hi davyR i did use it for a couple of seasons about 6 years ago and had no probs with it snapping,it could have been that you had a bad spool.

basically i have the need to change my reel line and have chosen drennon double strength in the 4lb cat Ive read in the past that soaking your line in water with a tiny amount of washing up liquid would ensure that it sank better.

I do the same thing I drop them on the ground initialy but at the end of my session do pick them up and they then go into a carrier bag along with all my other rubbish.

what size pellet/hook? I find that a size 6mm pellet is ok with a 14/16 and i place the hook through the end then gently turn the pellet on the hook,if the pellets get too dry then they will break up or if cought in the rain.
