  6. Hi everyone. Can anyone recomend a fishing holiday in Cumbria or Yorkshire please. One that is self catering with the cottages/lodges overlooking or very near the waters... Thanks Tight lines Jean
  7. Talking of Poles...we bought our 12 year old son one while on holiday. It was only £15 (I think) anyway only cheap and you should have seen the fish he has caught with it, it was ready elasticated, up to carp weigh. last weekend we went camping near Holmfirth and they had a smallish pond with Carp, roach, skimmers and bream. There was a chap sat next to him with all the top gear and he was feeder fishing, he caught 4 and matthew was pulling Bream and skimmers outfor fun, we lost count after 20!! It was getting a bit embarrasing He always catches more than us, another Matt hayes in the making... Tight Lines Jean
  8. Hope you enjoy it Judy. There is a Co-op just ouside the village that is very handy also a small post office in the village that sells some basic food stuff and papers... Jean
  9. Hi Sue. We wentin May this year. Its a nice relaxing place and the other anglers were very friendly. We stayed in one of the cottages overlooking Lonsdale lake, the only problem we had was that the peg with the cottage was hard to cast out as there was too many bushes and trees about. It was also the same on Deer lake, the carp were spawning when we went so we didnt catch any of the "Big Uns", but saying that some of the other chaps did. I got some tench and there is some nice big roach to be caught. We enjoyes it very much Tight lines Jean
  10. Caught 2 eels on holiday and couldnt get the hook out, it wouldnt open its mouth, no way! So had to cut the line and felt bad about this for weeks. I feel better now I know that it happens all the time with them and that the hook with rot away, you learn something everyday on here Tight lines Jean

  12. Mine is a Diawa Vulcan X rod, toggle. Any idea what there address is? or where to find it? that sounds very good of them... Tight lines Jean
  13. I caught loads of roach, some over the pound, monsters by my usuall catches But the best of all was I got 4 tench, never caught any before they were brilliant, not huge ones, but who cares! haha They were caught with 2 maggots near the margins in the afternoon, I always thought that they were an early morning or late evening fish..My son did the best we bought him a £16.99 Middy Whip as he was getting tangles on his reel, and to give us some peace and quiet from sorting it out all the time we got him that. He caught 2 mirror carp, tench and some large roach better than all of us! Oh and we also caught eel's YUK thanks for the advice about the rod lads Tight lines Jean
  14. Hi all. Had a wonderfull fishing holiday in Cumbria last week, but while there my 12 year old son used my rod while I wasnt there and snapped the end couple of inches from it! Casting out and hit a tree... What I was wondering is the best way to repair it, one fishermen said to just cut it down to the nearest eye and use it as a shorter rod or is it better to put a new end eye on. I could do that myself very handy at DIY stuff I'd only used the rod 6 times, it was a birthday pressey and I was as sick as a chip... Tight lines Jean
  15. What lovely photos pangolin, must try the tin sausages next week, going on a weeks fishing holiday! carp to 30lb...Carnt wait (and tuition on site) Tight lines Jean
