This one got missed!
Dennis Flack – was a famous mini-species record hunter – in 1998 held 4 British records simultaneously (Bleak, Bitterling, Silver Bream & 3 Spined Stickleback – the Bleak & Bitterling records still stand) – a feat no single angler has ever achieved. The one record he really wanted eluded him however. He is credited with catching over 100 dace over 1lb many mere drams from the British Record – including two 1lb 4oz fish on the same day (when the record was 1lb 4oz & 8 drms). He once caught a dozen 1lb+ dace in a single session – a jaw dropping achievement. An interview with him in Waterlog in 2002 called him ‘Dennis The Dace Man’, a fitting epithet. Dennis died on 12th Dec 2023 – he was 92. See also: https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/things-to-do/fishing/blogs-articles-and-news/the-fisheries-and-angling-team/dennis-flack-a-living-legend

They look great, Martin. Do they get used? Not many folks seem to post these days - but I still get dozens (sometimes 100s!) of views a day on my blog - so the boards are still getting visited!

Bit of a big lump. Hope there is nothing to stop it being certified as a record

Resurrecting this very old thread! I was told recently by a keeper on the middle Kennet that elvers are being introduced into the upper & middle Kennet. This looks like there's working being done to try and re-introduce them into the Kennet (and wider Thames) catchment. https://www.riverkennet.org/projects/thames-catchment-community-eels-project

Some super shots - though there's no way the heron is swallowing a crucian carp!

I add a small handful of porridge oats to mine if I want to absorb some moisture....

Do you have the lid on? I keep mine in a large bucket in the fridge - with the lid off so they don't sweat. Providing they stay dry - and I have them on a very cold setting too - to keep them torpid - they won't climb up the sides....

Would have thought the Angling Trust would have had experience of this - might be worth asking them - https://www.facebook.com/AnglingTrust

I'd heard that Atlantic Salmon had been turning up where they shouldn't in Canada - didn't know the reverse was also true!
