  1. What about a strip of Fibreglass tape epoxied to the hull, it would be cheaper than Keel-Shield, still have some drag tho, I don't know how it would stick either, PE is notoriously difficult to stick things to. To repair scratches and other maintenance jobs on my 'yak I use a mini blow torch, it's called a Bernzomatic, got it from B&Q for about a tenner. It comes with a soldering attachment, fit this, then unscrew the soldering tip..brass doofrey, you are left with a tube with a gauze inside. This gives an intense heat source, without a flame. This combined with leftover bits from cutting hatches etc will weld most scratches you get. BTW, it's often possible to obtain PE cut outs to use for filling from your dealer, I know Dagger have supplied me in the past.
  2. Here's what I mean:- The plastic bits have a female screw thread, fit into end of tube and you screw straight into them
  3. Glsgowdan, get yer hands on a Zimmer, walking frame thingy. 20mm Ally tube and little plastic things that fit in the end of the tubes to attach another piece at right angles, your local NHS Trust throw knackered ones out all the time, failing that car boot sales. I'll post a piccy later
  4. I'm going to try Dinas in a couple of weeks, and Trefor, where I used to have my boat, and probably the mark Simon cryptically refers to, if it's the same place..used to have a lot of cars broken into when night fishing! It'll be the first time I've been there in nearly 10 years, since moving down sarf from Merseyside, used to fish Caernarfon Bay every weekend, had some decent fish from the banks. I hope the weather's better than it has been the last few days
  5. " Why can't you cast sitting down? " Hi Simon, no idea, ok kneeling, standing up, sit me down with a fly rod, instant hassle   BTW.. what time are you and Nifty launching from Twywn on the 4th, not sure if I'll be fishing early yet, depends on wife and Mother in Law, but I'll be along sometime. 6. Tried Fly Fishing last year, couldn't get on with sitting down, fly line around my feet, around fish finder, big tangles... I know, I thought, I can surf, I can stand up on the yak..I couldn't...
  7. Yeah I agree Richsurfer, have fished below Nancekuke on many an occasion, last time couple of months ago, was also in the water at Porthtowan. Result..inner ear infection, 3 lots of antibiotics, and antibiotic and steroidal ear drops to clear it up. Not a coincidence that Surfers Against Sewage started off up the road in St Agnes. Mind you the North Cliffs outfall does attract some cracking mullet.
  8. Chris, Many thanks for the info, I will give him a ring
  9. Simon, I really like the look of the Dorado, but then again I like the look of the prototype too, and the Prowler, and the Tarpons...b****r, decisions, decisions   On another thread, I see you will be in Wales, day of the tournament. I will be just up the coast, was going to fish N of Barmouth if nobody was about, but may join you
  10. Hi HF, It's a place I've thought of a few times, they pick up some nice bass there. Is there much of a tide run? Let us know how you get on, won't be fishing locally for the next month, but may try it out later on
  11. Why not strap one of these to the back:- http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=3801&productId=150162&Trail=C%24cip%3D28884.DIY%2C%2Bgarden%2Band%2Bcar%3EC%24cip% 3D28915.Garden%2Bpower%2Btools&categoryId=28915://http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/s...ategoryId=28915://http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/s...ategoryId=28915://http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/s...ategoryId=28915://http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/s...ategoryId=28915 It'd be like one of those outboards you see on Amazon canoes
  12. Hi HF, I've never had a problem, mine kept popping off by itself, and it's been stuck down with Devcon 2 Ton, Araldite, WEST,and the surface has beeen prepared with abrasive paper and Acetone. Getting the excesss off the Transducer is the real b****r! I've found careful use of a Stanley Knife the best. Have fun! BTW I think I may have found some new epoxy to do the job, pours like water and takes about 48 hours to set, I'll report back when mine is installed again.
  13. Newt, Simon What is a cast net? Do you use it on a rod? Sounds interesting,
  14. Hi HF, No probably not, but I have seen guys in the SW using "beach seines". One guy rows out from the beach in a semicircle shooting the net from the stern, his mate holding the other end on the beach. Guy in the boat then comes in and they then both haul. Seen them doing it in really small dinghies..8ft. Seem to get a lot of sandeels. Could be worthwhile if there's a bunch of you fishing..not sure about the legalities of it tho' best to check with the regional authorities.
