  1. Oops, sorry about that Kleinboet. I'll change it this evening as I'm just off to work now. Right, I've now changed it - but how do I know whether I've nicked somebody elses?? (Although I'd have thought I should be pretty safe with this orange )
  2. I've just e-mailed a piccy to Gray. What happens next? Does he sort it & update it on my profile? or notify me when that needs to be done?? Just curious. Cheers

  4. Cheers Rudd. For my money, you simply cannot beat waggler/float fishing. The whole time I'm sitting watching a float I expect it to go under at any moment, even if I go long periods without a bite, I always seem to retain the feeling that the floats gonna dissapear. Also, is it just me, or, does it happen to you guys & gals, that, when you glance away for a second & look back toward where you thought your float is, there's no sign of it - making you assume you've had a bite at that very moment, but further inspection reveals you're just looking in the wrong place!
  5. Hello Ratty from another newby. I've found the natives hereabouts to be very friendly. I notice a few uploaded piccy's in the posts on this thread, how do you do that??
  6. That's a stunning picture Gillies, well done to you & thanks for sharing it.
  7. That's a fair question. I have to admit, I was more than a bit sceptical when 1st introduced to these lumps of plastic. I had a half hearted dabble with them just so my pal didn't think i was being ungrateful, then switched back to some sort of chum mixer. But, watching my mate catch consistently whilst using them, on more than one occasion, whilst I was constantly pulling my rig back in from under the noses of feeding fish, to add a new mixer because a)the carp had knocked it off or B)it was no longer floating, was more than a tad frustating. So I gave the things another go & hey presto, they bloody well worked. The advantages are that the things stay on the hook, you don't have to keep re-baiting/re-casting & spooking the fish & you can see them more easily than a waterlogged dog biscuit sat well down in the water. Now with regard to the point about using organic material. Have you ever used a spinner or a plug to fish for pike/salmon/trout etc??? I was watching Matt Hayes & Mick Brown the other day Pike & Perch fishing & most of the lures they used were made of rubber (In fact, when caught the Pike even said "this bait tastes rubbery" )
  8. I've tried using the artificial floating "chum mixers" when floater fishing for carp on a few occasions. Initially this was done without success & I lost all confidence in them assuming the carp could tell they were synthetic. However, last time out I watched my pal land fish after fish using one, so hair rigged one on myself & whilst feeding chum mixer I managed to catch one carp of about 6lb on the false one. I shall definitely give it another go next time out. Are you referring to legering one popped up - now that's worth thinking about!
  9. Is this what really happened???
  10. I see this thread is still rolling on. Just to explain, I removed the pics, (none of which I considered racist), because, being new to the forum & still finding my feet trying to suss you guys & gals out I felt from some of the responses they had caused some offence. So, I felt the only option was to remove them. I did not intend to spark a debate on racist issues. Could i extend a thousand apologies if I've caused any problems hereabouts.
  11. Some very interesting stuff there Newt, I shall spend hours perusing that site.
  12. Well Poledark, I'm not racist & as I said earlier, the piccy's were posted as a bit of a laugh - actually poking fun at Ron Atkinson & ITV, not at anyone else. I've now removed them. I apologise sincerely if I've offended anyone.
  13. Here's another one - ITV's lineup, in the absence of Big Ron, on The Premiership tonight. [ 25. April 2004, 05:42 PM: Message edited by: rabster ]
  14. Well, when I posted the Big Ron piccy it was meant as a joke, not as the catalyst for a debate about what he said (which was bang out of order - but he's lost 2 jobs as a result so hopefully he will have learnt his lesson!) anyhow, as I said, it was just a joke - like this: - [ 25. Result!!!!

I've only ever caught a couple of tench, but it was catching one of about 3.5lbs many years ago that got me re-interested in fishing because of the fight it put up! Well done that man!!
  16. You definitely need to change the colour scheme & ask again!! I've had a few glasses of the old chardonnay & that blue on black business made me a bit bilious!!
  17. quote: Interestingly enough St George was a Turk He was pre-Turkey, he was born in Cappodocia (modern day Turkey) then a province in the Eastern Roman Empire and was a General in their Army. He is supposed to have brought Christianity to the Pagans hence the Sainthood. The Turks were later invaders from furter East bringing another religion with them. But interestingly, he never set foot on Old Blighty.
  18. Check out the pictures of the ITV team towards the top of the image, Big Ron is wearing an outfit that's probably not too PC.
  19. This is intended to be funny, but, as I'm new to this forum, I apologise if anyone finds it offensive. [ 25. April 2004, 05:41 PM: Message edited by: rabster ]
  20. On the subject of Iraq, here's the latest map issued by the US Government.
  21. Well, I've no up to date info, having only fished it once a good few years ago. But I have two abiding memories from that visit. The 1st was foul hooking a carp of about 4 to 5lbs in the tail - i thought I'd hooked into Moby Dick, I was knackered & dissapointed when I finally banked the fish! The 2nd memory was all the bloody rats running around in the undergrowth behind where I was fishing. Now this was not on one of the manicured match lakes & is maybe no longer an issue, but I spent more time watching the undergrowth than my controller! Anyhow - have a good 'un. (Oh, something else has just occurred to me , they served hot food )
  22. Myself & a pal of mine would be interested in joining you all for the get together, if that's OK? I tend to fish mainly stillwaters for carp (hangs head in shame ) but have fished the Ribble before & caught a few chub(lets) - & eels!!! I'm also based in Blackpool - where's the link to the website for the poster who is "Blackpool"?? Which Wyreside is it? The one at St Michaels or the one at Dolpinholme?? Cheers. Cliff.
  23. Survey completed, but I agree with Newt re it being difficult to read.
  24. Thanks for the welcome, I've gone ahead & ordered the rods I mentioned, which were at an unbelievable price (£99.99 for 3 - so not a massive gamble!) I'll let you know how I get on with them. Cheers
  25. Evening all. I've been perusing the topics on here for a while but never posted before. Thanks to all for the tips I've picked up so far. Can I now ask for your help, I'm thinking of buying some Nash Hooligun Rods, for fishing a small lake (Approx 4 acres) mainly for carp to 20lb(plus the odd catfish). Can anyone give me any advice re the said rods, or point me in the direction of a review? Many thanks Cliff Blackpool
