  1. I remember both these photos from when they were originally posted. Both fine shots & well done Steve & Den for getting your photos published.
  2. Tough choice indeed, three really excellent finalists. Well done all three of you.
  3. Wow, that's quite impressive! I'm just the opposite & crop nearly all the photos I take, in fact I've got more crops than an arable farmer. I consider my post shot processing minimal, but it usually consists of cropping, levels, shadow/highlight (it was Steve who put me onto that one), unsharp mask and maybe the clone stamp or spot healing tool to get rid of any unsightly marks. I've also tried using curves, but can't seem to get to grips with it. I don't mind looking at photos that have been messed with to a greater degree though, there's definitely some clever stuff out there. Each to their own etc.
  4. I'm loving it Cory, wish I was there! Finepix - the duckling shot is a cracker, Nice one! My potd(taken 3 or 4 weeks ago), Missed the boat.
  5. Den, after two years of feeding niger seed I've finally encouraged Goldfinches into our garden - unlike yours, this was taken at close range (600mm) in the back garden just a few days ago.
  6. Tracy& Hellbelly - So sorry to hear about the loss of your dog Oliver. I'm not a dog owner, but am aware how closely attached you can get to one and it's such a loss when they leave you. Given the loving way you talk about him, I'm sure Oliver cherished all of his 13 years in your custody.
  7. Great shots Lardy, I love the little ladybird thingies, a belting shot. I think I got a shot of your spider a couple of weeks ago: -
  8. A couple of recent macro shots
  9. Hey cameraman, you've picked the exact same three I would've gone for. Trouble is they are all so good I can't decide which one to vote for, so I'm gonna mull it over for a while, although I'm open to bribes! Good luck to the three finalists & well done to all who entered.

    Baby crow

    Cracking shot Ayjay!
  11. I agree with Dan, some crackers there & the sparrow is the pick of the bunch!
  12. Been away & just catching up on old posts. Well done Cameraman, I loved that shot from the moment i saw it. A very worthy winner!

  14. I went out macro'ing earlier today. It's not easy as the slightest movement screws up the shot, this was about my best.
  15. Glad to hear Hazel is doing well, my best wishes are with both of you. Make sure you take the camera for that fishing trip of yours, your audience awaits.
  16. Granddaughter Morgan, taken a few days ago. Angels with dirty faces. and Rock Chick
  17. Well done Frantic, an unusual shot & worthy winner! Looking forward to having a stab at your challenge now. Tubularbelle - re yours & HB's waterwheels, I definitely prefer the second one where you can see the lawn etc, you get a better sense of perspective & that is one big old waterwheel.
  18. Excellent shots CM & I agree, it's a crying shame they've been left to rot. There's certainly some history rusting away in that scrap yard.
  19. That is one damn fine tench, in fact it's probably 10x's bigger than my biggest, so I think i must have caught a tenth rather than a tench. Looks a cracking location too, good luck this weekend.
  20. I know, it's daylight shrubbery. Can't wait to see the little 'uns, can't you give her a poke with a stick so we can see what's underneath? Thanks for keeping us posted Ferret.
  21. Hey Clifftop (BTW - it's not another Cliff is it? there's two of us already ) There's tons of online help about, try the following to see if there's anything to suit your needs. Clickety click Regards Cliff

    Ho, Ho, Ho . . .

I think you may have been casting the wrong way , I bet you didn't catch many, the water's behind you. Well your missus nailed the shot, but what's Greg Norman doing there, although take the hat off & it could be Craig Stadler Glad you both enjoyed your day out & I hope hazel is still doing well? Cracking reel shot from your kit lens there.
  23. Excellent shots Jaybee - you big girls blouse. I particularly like the side on angle you've taken the scabious & knapweed from.
  24. I like 'em all Ollie, but the first two are terrific. Really well photographed, makes me feel like I'm there.
