  1. Lucky sod There no cod showing in any numbers up in north east scotland,, Just a matter of time(and bring on the easterly winds) Octobers usualy the start it all cant wait... Commercials in the north sea saying that the cod are moving to the colder arctic waters like norway and around iceland thats there excuse for the shortage in the north sea, I donno wo to believe although i still would put my money on commercial damage,
  2. Ive see nthat up in the orkneys, Now these arent your average commercial boats, Fekin huge god knos how many millions spent on em with quite a large crew at sea for weeks, For such fish rich waters some bits can be awful desolate dew to the commercials up there... Thinking of which i never caught a fish from shore the 2 weeks i was up there, and i was told by locals commercials had been coming dead close..Although i caught loads an loads of god fish on certain undisclosed boat marks.. Post a link when all is ready gillies, sounds interesting, Havnt i drifted of topic abit
  3. Maybe we should pack together like that in the uk, Could it all be down to scent trail???
  4. I know a very effective way of letting the folk get the message.... It seems harsh.....A technuiqe i was told to use when in matches and people next to you are fishing on your peg, Works a treat and best thing is you can slice off as many people you want in 1 throw... Braid..... All you do is make sure your sinker/braid is cast over the person/ppl who are anoying you, Let it sink... Reel it back at great speed and it goes through the nylon like a knife through butter... ot that ive ever practised it... Was at the home nations champs this year, and i seen lotsa people do it to people on the next peg who were deliberatly fishing on to the next peg but i just didnt have the heart as watching someone else catch fish doesent seem to bother me as uch as it did with some of these guys...Tho after a whole day of it i did try it once and i must say it works treat...1 lad got snagged this 1 time and lost a good deal of his braid... For the res of the day he kept getting his line snapped off by this lost braid as did the guy next to him...It realy does slice through nylon with ease..... We get alot of it up here 2 the makky bashers tis strange tho sumthin tht aint realy ever bothered me much
  5. I think the fish you have at that aberdeen beach must just be suicidal, They seem to get between 30 and 100 flatties each there every match without fail, They had a good haul at the flounder open there this weekend even after it had ben fished solid for 3 weeks previos, Wierd. Must loose its appeal after about the hundreth treble shot tho....
  6. same ere kenny, Seahouses comin up, Can you advise on what rigs i should get ready or will the standard hokias doo?? cheers Shaun
  7. Doubt that Paul, I could always sell him a turbo too release at lochaline
  8. Yep thats terrible.....Only 0.01, For a tenner Davy ill tell you al i know about Turbot Tho dont blame me if you come of more confused than before hand, (A birdee told me he realy wants a turbot )
  9. I forgot to mention mine is a one piece, I think the 2 piece would be the better option ide certainly prefer it now havin owned a 1 piece
  10. Hiya Mike, I own a fladen flotation suit(One of the bright yellow ones) Its superb, Ive stayed dry when loads of water from waves have crashed over harbrour walls ontop of me, It keeps you very warm also, And i think boyancy wise it cannot be beaten, Definatly a worthy purchase, (tho as kenny will tell you from that mach on the weekend, Mine smells worse than rotten fish) Tho a quick wipe down after trips is soposed to be the way outa this, I think they 80 quid also which aint to bad, hopefully see you at the seahoused boat trip... Shaun
  11. Here to help confuse any day of the week
  12. Hmmmm your right there i think the 525 and the mag version do have the same spool size, I wasnt thinking there i was comparing my 525mag with my 535GS,
  13. Nice Writeup GF, Nice piccys too Not enough to get me out on a YAK though , I think im just a chicken
  14. The GS is no where near the same for casting, My opinion is that you cannot compare the both, The mag is superb for casting distance, 15lb line, Side winds the lot and its just unbirdnestable, Downside is its not great for rough ground wit hheavier line as it hold very litle amount of line, The GS is good when you dont need to cast as far, Can cast 100 yards when needed, ANd holds loads of heavy line, (I use 30-40lb for me cod fishin, So you see 2 totaly 2 diffrent usages, Perhaps you could compromise, In between the 2 you have the 535 GS with mag conversion I think my next real will be a slosh 30 or 40, Ive heard good things Shaun

"i fish with a south african (not as bait), " So do i...2 of them infact, Worste of al is when you bring in a 5lb cod or whatever and they think its bait... There real Pussies when it comes to snaggs though... 15lb line with shockleader in heavy kelp beds, hmm dont think so
  16. I love me winter cod fishin but i amnt much help for the northumberland coast, But i here the newbiggin area is a good bet, cliff marks aswell as safer venues, I think for the north east up here(Arbroath area) it would be wishful thinkin to say i could go and target a winter cod just now, Even i the right weather, You need stiff easterlies but even still usualy dont come in properly till october...
  17. Kenny, I think i can guess where you got em, Remember my trip to dundde, Same rag, Same amount 10 quid odds, they wer a pile of sheeite, I couldt take them back on that instance, no time, But ide be glad to see how that turns out!!!! And mention my mushy worms 2 Will you be fishing tomorow, I here theres a few turbot around Shaun I might join youse now that ambles off...
