  1. what about if you catch a 2 10lb carp on a match which average fish around 4lb mark . be no fun for the rest of the match
  2. Im a very keen match angler, and i just ant see these rules being as fun, i love being able to bag up, no matter what size they are. Especially when u get them going, its what makes match fishing for me!
  3. I tend to like the bure, theres a place on the river where i am allowed to stay in horning but i do like it down at st bennetts abbey in ludham. Alot of good size bream just after dusk. Havent been river fishing for ages though
  4. i have lived in norfolk all my life, the best places for Pike are, Wroxham broad, Eels foot, Rollesbry broad and as someone mentioned horning. You can hire boats out at the Eels foot and there is an excellent pub there, ihad pike up to 30lb there
  5. thanks very much for all ur help, i didnt know about shallowing up, i thought if the fish were on the bottom they generally stayed there with the bottom feed thanks again
  6. Cheers mate, i love seeing that float go under every couple of minutes thats what is so majical about catching small stuff, u can get a real net full and have a great days sport and sometimes be lucky enough to catch one or two or the bigger fish at the same time
  7. yes im refering to small fish from 1oz up to half a pound. I always thought best methods were feeding on the bottom with maggott, 18-22 hook 1 and half pound line feeding steady small amounts. I have used very small pieces of cat meat too where i got loads but i think these fish were hungry for anything.
  8. i agree that day licences are silly, i plan to take my brother in law who is 15 fishing, hes never been before so i will be with him and he will be using my gear, surely my annual icence shjould be allowed to cover him, other may disagree

  10. I want to do some pleasure fishing on a local carp water but wouldnt mind going for the roach, perch rudd and other slivers in there so i can catch lots rather than get a carp every now and again, there are carp that average lb that go up to 20. rigs would people use, i will be using the pole with a rig made to hand? cheers, PS its at barford lakes if anyones heard of it. PPS Has anyone fished the Lakes in Besthorpe in norfolk?
  11. Well done mate, its a great feeling isnt it when ur sitting last and all of a sudden you get 3 fish to win the match, i love my match fishing, i was once sitting right down the pack with 30 mins to go so i thought i would switch from 9 to 12 meters to see if the carp were sitting on the edge of my swim, i hooked 5 and came third and got through the next stage of the knock out it felt great. Its what match fishing is all about. Well done one again!
  12. nice to know someone knows where i am coming from. On some match waters i know one in particualr there are loads of snags and weed beds, the whole lake is practically one big weed bed. You have to use 10lb line and big strong rods (pike rods even) to get these fish which range from 1lb to 5lb out. Surely if these fish can be cought in numbers using this method then they can be caught in normal waters.
  13. i think its a shame that the no close season is no longer applicable to a lot of lakes now a days, during this time a lot of fish are spawning and i feel these have the right to remain in peace. Ive seen some anglers on open matches deliberatley putting there rigs with no bait on there hooks in the middle of a group of fish trying to spawn just to win the match. This is desgusting and a disgrace to the sport. Sadly these things happen
  14. This is no windup, and i do not have a poor attitutde to the sport, as ive stated i wouldnt use hard methods but what im saying is we use heavy methods for heavy fish so how is using tackle for light fish tha worse. Eg, we swing 3 oz roach in, that poor fish is being dragged up by its mouth
