  1. yep, in theory that's right: =================== . IDENTIFICATION OF SPECIES. The Committee is required from time to time to consider claims for fish of species which cannot be determined to its satisfaction without inspection. For this reason and others, claimants are strongly advised not to liberate or otherwise dispose of a fish for which it is intended to enter a claim until an inspection of the body, dead or alive, has been made by a representative of the committee and permission given for disposal. While claimants should recognise that failure to produce the fish for inspection may prove prejudicial to the acceptance of a claim, the Committee does not bind itself to reject a claim solely because inspection has not been made. All carriage costs incurred in production of the fish for inspection by the committee must be borne by the claimant. ============== However. Has any sea fish record been claimed where the captor just produced photographs, witnesses and certified scales?
  2. Pic from the Veals web site. Cracking looking fish and a pity that shore caught sea fish still have to be cracked on the head to claim a record and not certified scales and witnesses like the freshwater chaps.
  3. He use to fish. Managed to drag this off Hansard (part of the fox hunting debate) Sad to see him ill as whatever you think of his opinions he was a character in the House and it will get greyer with him not being there.
  4. You young folk... sighs Have a look here: http://shopswarf.orcon.net.nz/centigrade.html
  5. National Data Buoy Center http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/Maps/United_Kingdom.shtml Any use?

    Stop It Now!

Don't a lot of these skate get re-caught as I understand that they are tagged and returned. I applaud the guys (and ladies) that fish for them - I am far too weedy and would be dragged overboard in a flash
  7. Like spanner, I was sat in an office on a 16 day run of shifts. However come saturday I get 12 of the next 14 days off so I will .. er be off fishing
  8. On any forum you are going to get trouble, simply due to the fact that angling skills range from 'novice' to 'expert'. Likewise the posters will range from decent honest people to lunatics. There are really only two things that can be done. Allow the whiners, the troublemakers and the total t*ats to continue or, as I do on my own forum, ban them by username and IP address. I'd rather twenty muppets left and went somewhere else and get one decent angler start posting as a result.
  9. Leon, if the lad wants the tackle being offered, would you or a local angler act as a collection point so it can all be gathered at one point before being given to Podge? There could be quite a lot of stuff coming his way as this story has horrified everyone on the sea angling forums.
  10. Had a trawler going up and down in front of me yesterday from Weston-Super-Mare Bay to way past Sand Point: Are there any restrictions on these guys doing this so close to the beaches as I did a search in google and could not find anything.
  11. Am on XP mate and still have all my system restore points after running it - just checked.
  12. You could be viewing cached copies of the webpages in your browser Peter as a 2MB line will give you over 200kbps whilst a 56K modem will max at about 4.5kbps. Clear all your temporary internet files and try again. Also do a speed test at: ADSL GUIDE SPEED TEST PAGE to see what you line is actually running at.
  13. MINEHEAD DIRECTIONS This popular sea side resort is on the A39 and well signed from junctions 23 or 24 on the M5. To reach the sea when you get to the roundabout on the outskirts of the town go to the right and this will take you on to the sea front near Butlins. There is roadside parking along most of the sea front and since the work finished on the sea defences the area from Butlins to the Carousel now offers good easy fishing during the autumn and winter for 2 ½ hours either side of high tide. If you park at the Butlins end of the front and walk eastwards along the path in front of the golf coarse there is good fishing over high tide between the club house and the chalets at Dunster. The harbour wall can be fished for about 3 ½ hours either side of high tide and is reached by turning left at the Butlins roundabout and then turning right by the railway station. If you carry along this road to the end and park the beach in front of you is Gasworks beach which can fish very well over low tide and for about 4 hours in. The area between the shelters and the lifeboat station can also be fished over high tide as the sand is much closer here. White mark is another popular low water mark and is reached by walking westwards from gasworks and taking the last path onto the beach before the footpath goes into the woods. TIDES Spring tides are best for the high tide marks whilst the low water marks tend to fish best on neaps. SPECIES Cod, codling, dogfish, pouting, whiting, rays, bass, flatfish and mullet in the harbour.
