  3. --> QUOTE(Norm B @ Dec 21 2006, 05:50 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> January's SAN in the shops tomorrow, Friday, some nice fish in there, luckily there was a break in the weather or it would have been a very thin issue. Saw the pic of the 31lb'er today in Poole Sea Angling Centre, jezzzzzzzz thats one big cod!!! Scott
  4. Think the only comment that would'nt of gone a miss is to say how sad that story is, and my thoughts go to his family. Scott
  5. http://www.fisica.uniud.it:8080/zones/:Europe/London Might help you out Skippy Scott
  6. --> QUOTE(Norm B @ Dec 20 2006, 05:36 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes it was caught on smoothhound, that's the name of the boat. HI, I have pictures of both fish and a story but please feel free to supply another in case it' a better one. Just mailed you at SAN Norm Scott
  7. Nice one Darnsarf, December /January is notorious for big ballan's, a lot of specimen hunters hit Portland this time of year for the really big buggers. Scott
  8. --> QUOTE(Norm B @ Dec 19 2006, 07:06 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just received a picture of a 31lb cod caught out of Poole on Silver Spray and a 17lb bass out of Langstone on Smoothhound. Looks like I missed a good weekend. Sure did Norm, Would you like a picture and a quick note on this fish for SAN? Scott
  9. Ahhhh, bless you Aussie's, We never get bored of hearing how great Oz is over here, even the bad things are great, if there are any bad things that is Scott
  10. Like it, or every now and then they have a surprise 'release the hounds' lap.
  11. Wow! Fair play that man, not many people can say they've done that! Scott
  12. Really? Not a big flounder? We get loads of baby halibut in Poole harbour this time of year Scott
  13. I'm surprised that I posted this yesterday morning, and not one person has commented on the capture of such a fine fish??? Shocker, or maybe other people are tripping over 20lb fish as they are so common. Scott

    FYI

24lb XChurch ledge cod, absolute lunker! Scott
  15. Here you go, 24lb of prime Poole Bay Cod, a cracking fish in first class condition. There's a few Cod showing, not in great numbers but then we're used to that, pretty sure this is the biggest so far this year for our local area. Only managed one whiting on the boat yesterday which was unusual, lots of jumbo pout and dog's. Two trawlers have been working the Cod and Whiting grounds in Poole Bay all weekend, which is horrible to see, they seem to be waiting in the wings for the first reports of fish at this time of year. Would like to congratulate Matt, the angler that landed to Cod, was his best fish to date, and he was absolutely made up, great to see. Out next weekend fishing privately with my mate, determined to get one, even a 4lb'er would do, high pressure and settled weather all week, could be the last chance for 2006! Tight lines Scott

Nice one Simon, Wasn't overly pleasent on the ledge yesterday mate, blew a bit harder than they said it would. Think 3 cod we're reported yesterday between the half dozen or so boats out, but ours by far the biggest. Two trawlers have been working the ledge and surrounding ground for the past two days, pretty much non stop , we managed one solitary whiting yesterday between 8 rods, loads of jumbo pout and doggies, think we were anchored over a kennel! Hope fully heading out next Saturday, last trip of 2006 I expect. Scott
  17. Unlucky Mike, Least you gave it a bash mate Scott

Morning, Just thought I'd give you south coast fells's a bit of hot news, know a fair few of you fish XChurch Ledge area, was out on a charter yesterday and witnessed the capture of a 24lb Cod, something a little bit special for our area I'm sure you'll agree. Will post a quick report on the sea forum, but before the news filters through the normal channels, remember where you heard it first Scott
  19. Newsflash.......................Newsflash South coast Cod DO still exist!!!! On my charter trip yesterday the guy next to me had a 24lb lunker!!!! Never seen a big cod in the flesh, was a truely memorable experience. Have pics, a very good pic, will sort my life out this morning and get it posted. Scott
  20. Cheese........ And thanks for the reminder Scott
  21. I'd say b#llo~ks to them, Have always been impressed with how you fellas prepare and plan your trips and the knowledge you have on your chosen sport. I'd imagine most of you have more safety kit than, flares, VHF and clothing than most small boat anglers. Shame on you Sea Dangler, Booooooooooooo Scott
  22. Totally agree BC, It already cost's a lot to own, upkeep and maintain a boat, be it private or commercial. More importantly due to our fabulous weather the amount of time people get to go out is limited and with the cost of fuel doubling I think a fair few people will decide it really isn't worth it anymore and throw the towel in. Scott
  23. Are you planning on using livebaits from the sgore or afloat? Scott
  24. Think Mr Miller from Herne Bay needs to get out more if he's gone to the time and effort to get a 3gram Goby weighed and recorded! Must remember to put a pair of Jewelers scales on my fishing wish list!!! Scott
  25. --> QUOTE(Norm B @ Dec 14 2006, 06:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> We must never forget that the sea is a hard taskmaster and we must treat it with respect. I found it a little difficult to listen to some one explaining on the TV why he wasn't wearing a lifejacket. "It's because of the work and they get in the way". I have 2 very compact lifejackets from Shakespeare, both with CO2 cylinders to inflate them, one manually and one automatically upon falling in the water. Both fit under a smock so wouldn't get in the way when working. I think the macho factor comes into play here. It's not sissy to do the best you can to protect yourself in bad weather conditions. Health and safety are paramount and it's up to the individual on a private boat but on a commercial boat there are rules and regulations that MUST be obeyed. If an enquirey finds that he may have been saved if he'd worn a lifejacket then perhaps they will be compulsary in future and save lives. It's never a good time for some one to die, I've been to a funeral today, but no matter what time it is, it's always worse if some one dies unneccessarily. Was having exactly the same conversation today, modern life jackets are designed to be wearer friendly, you don't really know you have them on. I suppose one argument could be wether to go down the auto or manual inflation route, auto would be no good for comercial fishermen as when the weather is bad they are constantly wet, but surely in certain conditions, and portland race can be a very nasty piece of water, they have to be worth the 'aggrovation'. Still very sad news mind Scott
