  1. quote: a guy in whitby was done for been bladded riding his bike some sight i bet A guy on the AN forums was done for being drunk in charge of a keyboard
  2. In the Canary Islands it is still law that you can be prosecuted for being drunk in charge of a donkey. I'm not making this up!
  3. Dan, thanks for posting the pics. I also read the signs while I was there. There were 3 people fishing from where I took these pics before ledgering into the harbour as they'd discovered a loophole. You are not restircvted from ledgering frm the end of the new stone pier, so they just cast 100 yards into the harbour!! Works for me! I'm sure they'll soon stop that though. The other pity is that the new "car park" near the launch ramp will only be a trailer park & not for public parking according to one of the construction workers Yes, your pics are indeed massive! Check your email, I've resized them & emailed them to you I'm assuming there is a charge to launch at West Bay ?
  4. One could even say: "That took some balls!"

  6. Thanks for all your replies I'm especially interested to hear that Eype can be good bass ground as I was there last week checking it out & fancied giving it a shot One of the 1st things I want to do is to get a small boat with an outboard on it, so I'm looking forward to that. Yes, Burton has 2 good pubs which I will have to walk past to get back home - it's a hard life! Has anyone tried fishing the new harbour @ West Bay ?
  7. I am moving to Burton Bradstock, Dorset in a couple of weeks & would like to make contact with anglers in the area, West Bay, W Bexington, Abbottsbury, Weymouth etc who can point me in the right direction of good local marks & maybe hook up with for a few angling sessions & a pint or two every now & then. Are there any locals who can point me in the right direction ? I'd also like to have some boat fishing trips as well, so maybe there are a group of people who have room for 1 more ? [ 07. 8. quote: I say, cripple them for life. As soon as they break into your house, IMO they then lose all recourse to the law. Hear! Hear! Couldn't agree more demon Anything in my house belongs to me, including you if you are trespassing ...
  9. One thing always worth a try (which solved my problem) was uupgrading your modem drivers Or are you using a router ?
  10. If the email is script/web server generated then you will not be able to trace the email address. Best thing is to find the ISP & make a compliant - include the message header when contacting them I regularly get spoof PayPal or Ebay messages which I check the header & contact the ISP to compliant - the sites are usually shut down in 24 hours
  11. Well done argyll you've employed a tactic that I use as well which can be quite effective. Sometimes a header won't always reveal the originators email address as more often than not the emails will come from a mailing list script on a web server. I had to investigate spamming from someone for a company I used to work for & was able to have his ISP officially take action against him as we could prove that the email originated from his server. 99% of things on the web are traceable if you know where to look The "return path" in a header or email is only what you actually put into you mail program settings. Unfortunately it's very easy to appear to be someone else to the unwitting recipient ... You can also setup a rule which will bombard the the spammer with his own em,ail each time it is sent 100 times if you like by adding him as Courtesy Copy 99 times.
  12. quote: "ISTR that they are valid for 3 years, I think, but remain on there for 5." correct, you still have to declare them for 5 years. Above is incorrect. Having spent some time working for an insurance broker I can tell you the following: ANY points added to your license, regardless of whether it is an SP30 or DDA can affect your premiums, if you inform your insurance company. If you don't inform them & you try to claim, you policy COULD be invalid. Points remain "active" on your license for 3 years, but can only be removed from your license after 4 years (not 5). I once had 9 points on my license (2 SP30's - I was given a £120 fine plus 6 points because I challenged the charge because of a legitimate reason to be going that fast. And one for simply going through a new speed camera) Because of this I could not hire a car in the UK from ANYONE!
  13. This is a tactic employed by spammers to get through spam filters One sure firer way of telling where the emails originate from is to view the message header. In Outlook express right click on the message Properties>Details In outlook 2000 + right click Options This will tell you where the email has originated from regardless of how the spammer tries to hide the sender
  14. Fantastic! Now that's one lucky geezer
  15. Being a relative novice myself, this is something I found out (luckily) very quickly. Float fishing from a pier and at West Bexington the bites were very few & far between until an hour before sunset & a good hour afterwards. I was literally yanking them out on each & every cast so it most definitely is NOT an old wives tale!
  16. The building work at West Bay is scheduled to carry on until 2011 if you'd bothered to read the hoardings
  17. I mirror jeepsters comments. It all depends on what you want your PC to do. I, myself need a specific spec PC so have to pay quite a bit more unfortunately. There is no reason why a 2600 shouldn't be more than quick enough & "future proof" for your needs I know people who still use an old 486 as all they ever do is word processing, no internet or email & it is more than quick enough for your their needs. I run an old AMD 300 as my fileserver & it does a stirling job - I could upgrade it but it would be a total waste of money as it servers it's purpose more than adequately Don't spend more than you can justify ...
  18. Can you explain more ? There's no reason why you can't have multiple email aliases in outlook I assume you are referring to web based mail ? It is pretty much irrelevant how your email looks before you send it. i.e. If you have outlook set to create email as HTML & I have outlook set to only receive mail in plain text, then any layout/ fonts etc will be stripped from your email upon receipt.
  19. 1.) If by any odd chance your monitor has switched resolution (unlikely) that it doesn't support, then that will cause a blurry screen. This is something that old monitors used to suffer from. Does all look normal size wise ? If your dot pitch (how may dots & lines your monitor has) is low then it will be blurred above a certain resolution 2.) Your monitor has pooed itself & you need to get a new one (This sounds most likely particularly if you've had a power cut) Time to invest in a shiny new one I'm afraid. With monitors, they either work or they don't ...
  20. Why are you still using Turnpuke ?? It's the most dastardly piece of software ever invented! Why not use Outlook ?
  21. http://www.studio-six.co.uk I run my own business providing domain names/web space/email etc etc Sending 10mb in an email in one go is not feasible. Most hosting companies will give you 20/25mb email storage space, but most servers allow a 5 or 6 mb maximum on email attachments. This is done for obvious reasons as a mail server can handle either one email with a 10mb attachment or 10,000 text email at 10k each You may find someone that allows 10mb for each email, but that email has to go through many servers on the link exchange to be delivered to your recipient & I guarantee not everyone in that exchange will allow messages that size. If you get yourself a hosting package with your domain name you can easily upload your file to your webspace & email the recipient the URL from which they can download the file from. If you are sending the same file to 10 people you only have to upload it once for it to be distributed to all 10 people HTH [ 13. December 2004, 10:27 PM: Message edited by: FearTheHands ]
  22. Depends on exactly what you want to use it for If download limits are not an issue then you have plenty to choose from. The ADSL guide Kendo recommended is a very good site 1 thing with Freedom2surf - you are given a static IP address which is something I most definitely want for obvious reasons! Certain companies seem cheap, but then charge the earth for installation plus you have to buy their modem @ twice the price of a normal one. Some packages include a modem in the price such as BT
  23. You need to get yourself a V Capture card. This simply is fitted into your computer & has video & audio in. All you need to do is to connect it to your TV/Video & you can capture anything to digital format. You get what you pay for with TV cards so invest in a good one. You will also need a good cpu speed for good quality captures, so don't try & do it with an old 486!! Try www.ebuyer.com for starters HTH
