  3. went out early kds up at 06:00 to fish with (uncle) snatcher he arrived prompt at 07:00 to ferry us as i'm still not allowed to drive as yet Drs what do they know........... planned a go for flatties at a mark given by Saint...... WEED ++++++ no bites 09:30 enough of that time for some pollacking off the rocks to the right of the ardwell mark As usual snatcher into first fish on a snatcher lure boy those things work a treat result Pollack of 1 1/2 lb thump bigger fish for snatcher this time approx 5 lb but spat the hook feet from rocks littletack4 and misstack4 both float fishing lug tipped with mackeral for some reluctant wrasse Note to dad (tack4): THE CASTING COACHING IS PAYING OFF! no real bites but screamsof enthusiasim every time the floats bopped in the current finally got rigged up and fishing......... went further down the mark leaving the kids to try it alone for a bit. result... Caitlin hooks into a Coallie at just under 2lb Snatcher meantime still pulling the pollack in what about littletack4 & tack4 ...... no joy but time for a change of tactic result little tack4 snagged on rocks below hand kyle my rod to keep reeling in and atempt to unsnag his lure "DAD, DAD"... turn to see a smile splitting his wee face "IT'S A POLLACK" misstack4 heads over with scales 1 1/2 lb the fish caught and photographed prior to release then tack4 decide to have a dip in a rock pool whilst attempting to dislodge misstack4's dropped plug slipped on a wet rock and ended up with a very sore bum and hip thankfully nothing serious but some rotters were almost wetting themselves...... seeing as i was all ready soaked i retrived the captured fish from another deep rock pool for the kids to return all in all a good morning kids all caught and happy, snatcher had at least seven on the snatcher lure to 2 1/2 lb plus the one that got away and i suppose the ache will stop eventually packed up headed home for a warm shower

  13. recent boat trip helped a novice untangle his feathers from his coat only to then unknowingly hook myself in the hand just as i cast my weight out it was ok tho' the hook pulled clean out and the extra bit of blood scent on the hooks landed me a 3 1/2 lb pollack onlt took 20 mins. to stop the bleeding

    conger tips

after a poor session at coreswall light house due to very snaggy ground came back into stranraer and fished at the pier behind railway station as had been told chance of conger this would be a new species for me so of me and a mate went fished with 8/0 bronzed o'shaugnesy's 80lb wire trace and a good length of 50lb shockleader to aid handlinling up pier we had two sets of big knocks on the baited rods unsure of when to strike so let things / develop result pulled under pier freed but no hook up and no mackeral head n shouders left other bait mauled and again no hook up any tips guys as planning another sesssion this week fishing 2-3 hrs up and down from high tide ie 9pm - 2am hw midnight
  23. very well put and balanced post leon. Still get weird looks when returning fish. tend to keep doggies in a rock pool till session is ending to prevent recatching or having bait robbed main fish for take home is mackeral as with previous threads re handling and death keep for bait and fillet for me and some neighbours to enjoy of late catching fish has been a tad difficult ave 3/5 sessions = blanking so no threat from me
