  1. bait dug rag n crabs collected for a session with snatcher at a new mark show to us on our trip with ian burrett

    marks "S"

met snatcher at his van at 09:45

we had over slept slightly as had the occupiers of snatchers van

dorothy "mrs Snatcher" and lillian (dorothy's sister) looked as tired as i felt

cup of coffee from lillian hit the spot kids had some juice

car stowed with snatchers gear and off we set

parked up leaving a short walk???????to the mark

as we were getting organised another vehicle arrived

two other fishermen who'd fished the mark yesterday with v poor results

they set off as i was still organising kit

we had to walkthrough a barley field following tractor wheel marks

until field thinned and access to next field could be gained

once through it we encountered nettles weed n grass aprox 4 ft high :schmoll:

misstack4has hayfever and this was going to be a problem on the way back

we were greeted with this view

    5-1.jpg

the planned mark had been taken by the eager beavers so a recce was carried out

we fished to the right slightly round the headland

after tackling up and first few cast (no bites) we saw ian burret and his two other boats steam into view

he shouted you need to be over there to which we replied we know but its taken

he must have triggered something as my first bite came and resulted in a wee wrasse

    1-1.jpg

ian and spike in the background

snatcher was spinning snatcher lures with no success

kids by this time were releasing the crabs we had collected into rockpools :wallbash::wallbash: and had stopped fishing

my next take was a thumping bite from what turned out my biggest wrasse of the day at just under 2lb

    2-1.jpg

the tide had turned exposing a route to another mark so we packed and moved

this was to the rock near wher ian and co had been fishing without much luck by the look of it

snatcher continued in vain with snatcher lures announcing "its much deeper here andrew i am counting to 10 and not hitting bottom"

needless to say his next cast snagged

more floating for wrasse for me changing depth from 6-7ft to somewhere nearer 15 -16 ft

more takes two wee wrasse 3-1.jpg

followed by my last fish of approx 1lb 6oz

    4-1.jpg

then came the climb back up

this was taken in stages as we older ones felt the need for oxygen and rests aplenty

the other two guys had decide to call it a day too we had fished approx 3 1/2 hrs

they had managed 4 fish in total only one pollack being of a takeable size and was stuffed with sandeel

after climbing the "eiger" follwed by the hard route up "K2" we finally managed the top where the flora got to work on misstack4's pollen allergy

a quick pitstop at snatchers van saw misstack4 explaining again to snatcher the 4 turn grinner knot

and a quick tute on shockleader knots

hugs and kisses were freely exchanged between adopted aunts and uncle and we set off home

counting the days till we meet them again at the start of lads week

we hope to be out tomorrow for a short session on lochryan with the left over rag and some mackeral

the kids littletack4 and misstack4 finish school this friday for summer hols

littletack4 shares his birthday with Dale one of the lads for lads week and we aim to get a nice cake out to the van baked by my fair hand

tight lines to all and to another succesful liason with snatcher and the tack4's

  2. aye the craic was good m8 as usual

the littletack4's are imporving all the time

Tracy is workin friday night so may squeeze a wee session fri pm but deffo sat am m8

    tack4's report

fished down by the wall staurday afternoon

    had dug somee rag earlier

little tack4 had the best bag of us all

i was mainly after some mackeral for the table and bait

missstack4 had a few knocks but missed them and took to reading her book

littletack4 could see the wrasse around his bait and at times was to keen and missed several fish by stricking too early

he ended up with 4 wrasse and a wee pollack

his wrasse was the biggest caught as yet by any of the tack4 clan

wieghed in at a healthy 2lb 8 oz

crackin fish and all managed by himself

nice one m8 when i work out how to get pic from misstack4's phone i'll post it up

  3. the little tack4's first boating adventure with Ian Burrett

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Firstly thanks Ian for your time and effort we had a blast and the craic was great

As a treat to my kids misstack4 (Caitlin age 12) and littletack4 (Kyle age 9) Ian Burrett offered to take them Me and Snatcher (uncle snatcher to the littletacks) out some evening after his charter for the day had ended

    THAT EVENING WAS LAST NIGHT

we arrived late due to my work (theatre list over ran as usual) to be greeted by the flatest calm sea i have ever witnessed and there wasnt a cloud in the

    sky.

all aborad ground rules laid (and quickly ignored by the youngsters as usual)

quick sprint to get some mackeral

misstack4 was first in and almost dropprd the rod when 5 mackeral hit her feathers 4 were boated and she relaesde one as she thought it was catch n relaese that we mostly practice

littletack 4 was in next with a full house of two as i only set him a two feather trace

snatcher was spining a snatcher lure to good effect and managed more than me

as i was playing with a 5 ft "whopper stopper" of a rod that i'd got for the kids yaers ago and soon realised it wasnt for sea fishing small wee bait casting reel 8 lb line and a wee toby with single hook boy did that rod bend when Mr Macky came to town magic fight

    enough mackeral for bait

off round the tip of the mull for ian to point out access to good shore marks

    misstack4(Caitlin) Uncle Snatcher littletack4(Kyle)

    kidsnunclesnatcher.jpg

what a beautifull coastline we have in SW Scotalnd that as a mainly shore angler you never really get to appreciate as weel as you do afloat

    STUNNING

BOY DO WE HAVE SOME MARKS TO TRY THIS SUMMER

floating for pollack commenced for littletack4 and misstack4 under Ians watchful eye

Kyle missed his first bite but lsitened again to Ians instruction and hooked up his next bite and safely brought it to the boat with yells of exitement

    a nice pollack to approx 1 1/2lb

    kylepollack.jpg

misstack4 meantime had missed several nibbles as she was trying to prepare more strips of bait after beoing repeatedly told not to handle the kinves by me (this was to be an ongoing theme)

she finally hooked up one and the scream of someone help me was echoing around the cliffs

are you getting the picture yet we weren't in for a quite night!!!!!

she was poilitely told that she was doing fine and to just concentrate....aother pollack of 1 1/2lb boated REX HUNTED (she insists on this) and realeased

    caitlinpollack.jpg

Ian had a float out too and was picking up similar sized fish,

snatcher was spinning his snatcher lure and lande the smallest coallie i've seen in a while(sorry m8)

follwed by the biggest boated pollack so far of just on 2lb

a few more fish follwed but not to me as i was ledgering with prob too heavy a weight ...change of tactics required me thinks

under instruction littletack4 piloted us to almost around the point of the mull

    pilot.jpg

before ian took over as those who have seen them know the tidal rips that can be there at the point

next mark with another reminder of not using knives and to keep the noise down as they were spooking the fish

better fish were caught by all including me with 5 1/2 -6 lb pollack on a trotted float this tactic i found by accident when i had forgot to close the bail arm and boy did it work

Snatchers tally improved too after Ian suggetsed a slower retrieve

all these tips and we still occasionally kept stricking instaed of controlled reeling

Misstack4 piloted us back towards shore as Snatcher caught the "last fish and were in" pollack.

I knew allready i was going to be in the dog house as it was well past the time we should have been home but the lateness was compouded when Kyle accidentaly dropped the car key on the shingle

Hey may not tie flies smaller than 16's anymore but with out Snatchers eyes of a hawk we'd still be hunting for them

Kids chatted all the way home and was heckeled by "Dad can we get a boat?"

Home air was blue......... hrs late on a school night showered, teeth brushed, bed n tuck in.

I stowed the washed dwon gear fillted a few mackeral showered, kept quiet, silent treatment

    deserved

    Sorry Tracy.

Finally , Thanks again to Ian Burrett or just Burrett as littletack4 called him repeatedly for his time and patience,

To Snatcher for the craic and phoning Tracy,

to My kids cheers pals well done

  7. well lads he's fair exited....... :yeah:

whilst fishing this am after a few plucks at his bait there was a sudden mega stripping of line after he had just set his clutch correctly for his 15lb line it must have stripped off 40-50 yds in a flash

christ whats this thinks snatcher a mega bass or a ray ????????

he eventually got some control and the battle commenced after some heart stopping runs he managed to beach a 10-12lb shark he thinks may have been a smoothhound

    nice one snatcher :yeah:
