  1. You know a good boat when you see one then Elton!
  2. If you can't get peeler, use the next best thing, fresh mussels, or frozen from baitsdirect. Mussels have a chemical scent very similar to peeler. Better than watery soft crabs.
  3. The Kent coast is as dead as a graveyard. I suspect the persistent cold winds this May have kept the water temp down. May is colder than April this year. Usually a pre-curser to a blistering hot summer, I hope. [ 22. May 2005, 06:06 PM: Message edited by: kentangler ]
  4. Can someone explain to me how fish weighing a few ounces 'fight'. A 20 pound plus fish would fight, but 12 ounces? They are winched in surely without hardly knowing they are on the line.
  5. You will keep them to yourself on an internet forum. Errrrrrrr!

  7. How about Bembridge? I will be staying there for a week in July. Only taking my spinning rod and lures. Staying at Nodes point. Any info on Bass spinning marks would be very welcome. Never fished the island before. [ 16. May 2005, 07:53 PM: Message edited by: kentangler ]
  8. Just to really cheer you all up, take a look at this lot! http://www.heatisonline.org/Oceans.cfm
  9. I'm afraid I am one of those strange anglers who likes a fish for the table now and again. Pouting are a blasted bait robbing pest.. I would rather catch one fish for the table than 100 Pouting. But that's just me. I don't go fishing just for the pleasure of reeling in tiddlers. If I caught 30 Pouting I would consider the session a total flop.
  10. Mmmmm. You will forgive me if I don't rush off down there for blasted Pouting! A good reason not to fish there I would think.
  11. It's surprising just how close in fish feed. When you think about it, it's the surf that dislodges the food, so the fish are bound to be in close some of the time. Most anglers think they have to cast as far as possible all the time. [ 09. May 2005, 09:40 PM: Message edited by: kentangler ]
  12. Yes sam, I catch Bass to 5lb on 10lb line. ( i will leave out the test bit, it's a new fad) They are 3ft out from a small 15ft jetty. I think your comment about the guys casting far out and catching nothing, is more to do with the mark. They are fishing it all wrong. You are fishing it right. But not all marks have fish close in! When you know a mark has fish close in, it makes sense to fish as light as is possible, I agree. I would then use my spinning rod, and one or two ounces of lead, and a long light trace. But if you were fishing a mark that had a gully 120yds out, the other guys would be catching, as you wouldn't reach it with light gear. It's horses for courses. [ 08. 13. Thanks chaps. As a matter of fact, he isn't an angler, so it wasn't a factor in the house build, but just wondered if it was worth a try. Probably not then!
  14. Yakity, the boat idea has been shelved for the time being. It will be a distinct possibility in the future if fishing improves.
