  1. Never saw the game but caught the "action" on the box this morning, what the ball boy did re wasting time happens at every game in every league in this country so to try and blame him for the incident is wrong, maybe he did hang on too long to the ball but jeez theres no excuse in the world which anyone can use to justify Hazards behaviour, that guy was just a prize prat last night and really as it involved a member of the public and not a pitch side playing member the police should have been involved (shades of Cantona's drop kick) The icing on the cake this morning was Pat Nevin former Chelsea player and now commentator trying to justify Hazards actions
  2. Couple of times now I've looked at this one Elton but I don't see anything, has it been missed off or is my works laptop not showing it?
  3. Yes there is but barbel on the wensum are on the upper strech's and are all controlled water either syndicate or club Nice replies guys, one sure fire way to **** off new posters/members
  4. Another term is rolling used when bream break surface and roll over in the surface film, usually seen early doors Fish spotting in water is usually only achieved when you've got crystal clear water when you have a chance of spotting fish breaking cover or moving over differrent colour bottom which is different from the fishs colouration If theres any lilies or reeds in the water keep an eye on them to see if theyre moving, if they are and you cant see ducks or water fowl then you've got fish in front of you
  5. Sandyford and her family used to live in my town, seems they carried on their recreational activities when they re located, not sure she's the victim of circumstances as portrayed in the media seeing as how her lifestyle and that of her family were pretty well known round here before they moved Agree with the idea of locking her up for a very long time and the same for anyone else involved in the drug trade but as someone who doesnt support the death penalty I can't support the state executing folk
  6. Andrew You appear to have a bit of muck in your eye
  7. What a piece of sensational crap from a body that purports to speak on the national stage on behalf of anglers, I can see angling making millions of friends (not) if this proposal to shoot the seal gets approved and worse still gets actioned Once the general public cotton on to the fact that the idea of shooting the seal has come from an angling "national body" and worse still is supported by anglers then our standing in their eyes will be pitifully low If the seal does'nt move on its own accord then it will fall ill and die without any help from anglers, if its been in the fresh water for months as alleged then its tolerance to fresh water will be running out as its always reported by those who work with seals that they need a salt intake to survive
  8. One of the forum members is heavily involved in this
  9. The question was'nt which are the best or most expensive alarms he could buy the question was "Dont want to buy cheap tat that won't last but I also don't want to spend hundreds of pounds on something that I wont benfit from" Plenty of alarms that fit that particular bill I still have and use some Leeda alarms that are over 15 yrs old and they work fine for piking also have some Fladen alarms and they too are good for piking, because of the set up and position of the alarm against the first eye and the weight of the drop off they all make that all important noise when a fish picks up the bait, makes no difference if the sounds the same for a drop back or a run all the alarm needs to do is alert to to whats about to happen Most alarms will do but some are more reliable than others in extreme weather, some don't like a dunking, my Leeda alarms were a fiver each from Argos and have been dropped, dunked and generall well used for years without the need to buy expensive delks If like me you have alarms attached permanantly to bank sticks stuck in your quiver or holdall then you don't really want to run the risk of knackering your very expensive toys or wasting the kids inheritance
  10. Nice to see you back posting, might need to buy a camera with a decent zoom, they're the smallest trout I think you've posted
  11. I've just ordered 4 of the GF's from Phil at GF Bite Alarms (web site above) based mainly on their reputation and the use and abuse of said gear by many of the posters on here. They get a thumbs up from everyone even after years of use so thats good enough for me Looking forward to putting them through their paces
  12. My guess is its not the fishing thats the problem for the missus , think there might be a touch of the baby blues hidden away that no ones yet recognised, only time and patience will win the day
  13. Funny , I guessed at Tiger fish even before he said what they were, plenty of over dramatic stuff in the programme, plenty to keep even the non angler interested which I guess was the show's main purpose I liked the bit where he was moored up and he was doing a piece to camera saying there were no tigers about and how scarce and difficult they were to catch and there they were behind him chasing prey and porpoising out of the water well in camera shot Nice Africa trip by the way Mr V, top fishing that
  14. Done and paid These will get a thorough dose of Northern bad weather fishing all through the year for pike on our Northern rivers and big open Scottish lochs so if anyone's wondering if they're up to the job, then wonder no more as I would'nt buy them if they could'nt handle a bit of persistantly down weather the type of which is very common up here
  15. Hello Phil Take this as an order for 4 of your GF's bite alarms, will go to your site now and pay for them
  16. I have a citroen c5 estate, just drop one of the rear split seats don't even have to take off the rear privacy roller but it's obviously easier if you do Great car for going fishing in and for driving down farm tracks, just pump up the suspension and lift the car up by 8 or 10 inch's and you have great clearance underneath for missing those tractor rutts, great milege out of the diesel too
  17. I reckon they could do very well with this, the N/E coast is superb for kayack fishing and it will only get better as more and more anglers experience the shallower inshore waters and all they have to offer
  18. I use leads up to 6oz to fish the Tees when theres a bit of water in and use 1.75lb Wychwood rods and they're great to fish with and the extra weight makes no difference at all when you've a decent fish on Got to remember though that casting weights like that is a big no no , best you can do is a gentle underarm lob or swing the lead into position otherwise you'll snap the rods
  19. I guess you could say "There's lies, damned lies and flip floppy unhinged position taking from advocates of unrestricted canoe access
  20. Rob Don't think Andy was ever banned but he was previously asked whether given his stance, continued membership of this forum was a good idea, strange how a bloke who openly admitted on previous topics that he had'nt canoed on a river for about 5 years would conduct such a hostile and ignorant approach to the issue and to fellow posters However you are right it is the same fellow
  21. Strange Just been on the .com website and no issues at all, its been working fine for a long time
  22. Hi Clair The John in the John and Michelle post above is John Brennan last of Whitby you may remember the name as he used to charter latterly with the chieftan and before chartering (of which he had a long history) he was a commercial fisherman out of Whitby and so was his dad before him He is now sadly gone as a result of rampant lukemia so not in a position to answer your queries but Scarbrough Council had a history of wrongly applying charges (debts) to boats re mooring or harbour dues so I would'nt get too worked up about old historical claims that probably have no foundation to them anyway
  23. I remember Sea Roma The debt though might belong to someone else who owned the boat at the time, best contact would be either Whitby Harbour Authority or Scarbrough Borough Council for more info
