  1. I got it about a month ago, it's a handy little book if you fancy having a go at making a few traditional style items, I think it's aimed for at the newcommer to making tackle as it doesnt go to far in depth, but at that price it's worth having.
  2. Dave Dave for a lighter bobbin push that line clip into a short length of aquarium tubing then push a swivel into the other end, tie a cord to the swivel and add split shot if needed and also a night light fits inside the aquarium tubing.
  3. Thank you, i'll now have to take a much closer look at them to spot the difference.
  4. Chesters1, I have 3 different Prince regents well the only difference is the stickers on them the reels are identical, is this different model years? Any idea what years they may be?
  5. Den, if you want to carry it on your own you might just struggle a bit depending on size of the inflatable, but a cheap match anglers type trolley would be ideal to move it about. The last 10ft one i had was a Zodiac and i could inflate it in less than 10mins with a footpump. My friend had a 2m version and that took less than 5mins to inflate. Dragging across grass or mud is ok anything much more solid might be to much of a risk, but you can get transom wheels that make life so much easier. If your only fishing small rivers or sheltered waters have a look at the Sevylor range, they are not the cheap versions you see at the beach, they are very hard wearing i've had a 7ft one for 10yrs had loads of abuse and only 3 punctures (easily fixed) in that time. And they are just about light enough to carry in a decent size rucksack. Scott.
  6. Just to add to this, if you really want a small boat for fishing these waters forget the bic 252 (its a joke) get yourself a 10ft inflatable (or larger). Ive fished on windermere 100's of times been out in some bad weather and the only boat i've ever felt really safe on was an inflatable. If there good enough for the RNLI to use as rescue boats in rough sea's they'll handle anything windermere can throw at them. Plus they fit in the boot of the car so easy and they are about the most stable boat you'll ever get. Launching isnt a problem, if you can walk to the waters edge you can launch your inflatable, you dont need a trailer and storage is easy as well. They all have multi chambers so if you stick a hook through one the other 2-3 will still keep you afloat, you would have to do something really stupid to burst all the chambers. And with a small outboard it will be quicker than other boats of a similar size (but dont go over the speed limit).

  9. There is only 1 thing certain about the match on Sunday, that is about an hour before it kicks of Schumacher will have won the Canadian GP. Final score 1 - 1.
  10. If you are really set on shooting birds then may I suggest you only shoot Cormorants.
  11. This might sound strange but I have 70 miles of shoreline all within a 10 mile radius of my house.
  12. Makes you wonder whats going to happen to all the Carp that keep getting throw in all these comercial fisheries, at the monent once there to big for the match anglers they are sold off to the specimen waters, there are only so many waters! Cant be many years before every water holds Carp.
  13. I remember once seeing a number plate on a motorcycle (parked) that just didnt quite look right, a closer look revealed nothing it was only when I started walking away from it that the numbers seemed to dissapear, I went back for a much closer look. What I found was that the owner had drilled 100's of very small holes all over the number plate. This had the effect of shielding the numbers because if you were'nt directly behind it all you could see was the marks the holes had made in the perspex, a car following you could read the plate as normal, anything to the side of you only sees a grey plate.
  14. Many years ago I was talking to a guy that had parts made for old British M/cycles out in the far east. He ordered 5000 mudguards that would fit either Triumph or Norton bikes, he paid for all the tooling costs etc, when his order was ready they told him they had made 10,000. He had the choice that either he bought the original 5000 and then knew that the other 5000 would be sold off cheaper or he bought the lot. Thats the way a lot of the tackle companies out there will work, once the tooling, setting up costs are paid for making extra versions is so much cheaper. Making 20,000 rods wont cost twice the amount of making 10,000 rods, the same for reels etc etc thats why there are lots of cheap products appearing.
  15. It works very well Elton, but then again Ive been using one for 10 years on my boat. I cant see why all these people are making such a fuss, as Ive said Ive been using one for 10 years but now with a smartcast I can use it on waters that I cant get my boat on. There was an article on it in Midland Angler mag this month.

Thats because no-one (team or driver) is good enough.
  17. I ordered one on Thursday morning, paid the extra for next day delivery, its not here yet. Hopefully it shouldbe ok if and when it arrives. Scott.
  18. I can see your point about TV's (and radios) Peter, but bite alarms are part of the scene these days. Personaly I would like to see every one having to serve an angling apprentiship and not allowed to use bite alarms for the first 3 years. Scott.
  19. Wasnt Richard Walker using electric alarms long before most people here were born? For anyone under 40, night fishing with 2 rods and electric alarms is the traditional way to catch big carp, as pioneered at Redmire in the 1950's. Scott.
  20. Due to cleaning up and spending a grant my local council decided to empty the park lake, clean out the rubbish and tidy it up in general. Because it holds a lot of fish the local club were offered them. They dont want fish in the pond when its all finished as there are loads of kids fishing there and people feeding numerous ducks etc. The EA were contacted and test netted the pond,(this was in Aug last year) it revealed what most people already knew, there were 20 or so large Carp up to 20lb, some Tench around 3-4lb, large amounts of Roach, and 1000's of Carp between 2oz and 8oz. The local kids had been fishing there all summer, I work in the only tackle shop in town so every kid is only to happy to tell me what hes caught, 20, 30 40, and on 1 occasion over 80 small carp in a session, and no-one blanked. It seemed a real pity that the kids were going to loose out on this excellent free fishing and many adults that had given it a go. So winter came and the dark nights stopped the kids fishing after school, a few cormorants were spotted on the water, one angler counted 10 in one day, and at least 3-4 were there every day. On Tuesday this week the EA arrived with their gear, and with various members of the club started work. The water was started draining on the monday, by the time the EA had finished (late Weds) the pond was completly drained, and every fish removed and taken to another water. Total fish removed: Carp 19 between 10 & 20lb Tench 24 between 3 & 4lb Roach 4 (yes four) at 2-3oz Eels, 2 both around 4lb The small Carp were never found. This just shows how much damage those birds do. Law or not, next one I see gets something (probably made of lead) sent in its direction. Scott.
  21. I ordered some stuff from Floats Direct, it took a while to come (postal strike) and when it arrived the order was completely wrong, I didnt recieve half of what I ordered and what did arrive was charged at over double the advertised price. After sending an angry email to Rodger, not only did I recieve a reply within 30mins but he not only appologised but told me to keep the items he had sent out and he refunded my credit card in full, I was very happy with that so much so that I re-ordered what items were missing, they arrived quickly and everything was 100% correct. I will continue to use them for future orders as their customer service is 2nd to none. I live 50-60miles from a decent tackle shop so 99% of my gear comes mail order, I have made many orders over the years from many places, Floats Direct is one of the best I've ever dealt with. Scott.
  22. It was a missunderstanding thats all, the reaction of some people here has been way over the top (no surprise there). And now after its been cleared up we still have people moaning about how many swims he had taken up. I thought it was a private water? Whatever anyone does in private is NOTHING to do with anyone else. Of course the argument of fish safety will be dragged out but if the angler is who I think it is then i'm sure that no harm would have come to any of the fish. There is a bit of an anti Pike & anti big name attitude on here at times. Plus the 'holier than thou' attitute that seem to be appearing more and more in each thread, I find it hard to believe that all these people posting have never broken any rule or law EVER, no-one is trully inocent but it would appear that they are and they all post here!!!!! Mr Waller, you were responsible for many arguments and a lot of the trouble that P+P forum is infamous for, before you left there. Scott.
