    VHF Warning

I done my radio test last year and it was a doddle. A bit of common sence is all that is needed at the end of the day. As for the plonkers who don't know what they are doing with a vhs radio then thank god that the R.N.L.I. are well trained as a boat near us found out last year. At the end of the day how much is your life worth?
  2. You can have the birds nest if you want. I can't give it away at the moment.

    SMOOTHIESSSS

The place to try in the summer is baggy point near croyde. I haven't fished it for many years now but the persone to ask is dillydangle, he lives just around the corner, sort of. and welcome to the forum
  4. Still yet to conferm saturday dilly will let you know as soon as poss. Chucking him in would not have been fair on the mullet
  5. First of all may i say welcome to the forum Dozza You will find that there are people on here with some strong feelings on certain spiecies of fish in our waters. I for one, don't have any preference towards a certain speices of fish but am concerned about the way fishing folk act. Cartwheeling doggies back into the sea because they are a pest and foul hooking mullet are not good acts for the fishing fraturnity. All it take is for the local papers to get hold of this story and before you know it the pier will be closed to all anglers. It's happened before at Ilfracombe and will happen again if this kind of thing keeps happening. Dillydangler and myself were there Sunday afternoon and there was one chap spinning feathers then. At this time of year he could be only after the mullet to be honest. We spoke to him about it in a round about way as not to cause offence but he continued on, although he agreed it was unsporting. We spoke about the lenght of time it takes these fish to grow to any size and after a while he changed over to other tactics. I don't know if it was because we pointed out the facts about mullet to this guy, but if it was then hopefully he will pass on the information to the next people treating fish the same way. Fishing is my hobby and i would like to keep it that way. It is my escape from the presurers of work. I don't want to be bogged down with licences, rule and regulations but can see it going that way. This isn't a dig at you Dozza Just trying to explain how some of us feel.

    fishy places

last week i was looking at going further a field with my boat and trying ventures new. Torquay was first port of call (only as I was working there for the day) and it's marina, for the price of a visitors mooring for a week (£90.00 for 7 days). Next was a chandelers to get a chart for the area. Back home I started to look at the chart for possible 'fishy' areas other than wrecks on the chart. This got me thinking what do others look for when entering new waters. On the same topic, when going to a new shore mark, In your opinion only (don't want to start a riot) what constitutes a good looking mark?
  7. I think he was to p*$$ed to hum for me. more intent on spiking me. Strange about the swim bladder?
  8. Dillydangler and my-self went to Ilfracombe this afternoon to fish the pier. When we got there it was blowing a hooly, an eastly at about 20 - 30 mph and bitterly cold (What did you say the wind was dillydangler?12mph?) Anyway being hardened fishing people,we set up and cast out. With the wind being so strong it was impossible to tell if we had a bite or not so guess work was implored. After a short time i brought in, baited up and cast out again. It was on this cast, that the clock struck one, well it sounded like it,even though it was half past four. First catch of the day, the pier light. this caused an almighty birds nest. problely the best i've ever had Anyhow not to be disheartened. on with another reel and cast out again. By now hands fingers feet toes and other bits had gone numbe. Things weren't going well. Dillydangler always gets the first fish but not even a nudge. Debating wether to move or go home i reeled in this little chap. he didn't seem to happy about it all and stuck his spike that is just behind his eye into my hand. Anybody know what it is?
  9. Transport manager for a local coach and bus company, at the moment it looks like I should have taken the offer of taking over my parents cheese stall in the market
  10. well if we're going for this photo thing I took this a few months ago thought the sign was intresting
  11. Theres always the south west when its not raining.
  12. Well today has been alot easyer and there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel. The department of transport has been up and given the workshop a good going over and that seemed to fair ok. A few problems were picked up and they seemed happy with the vehicle repair and inspetion records. I am the transport manager for the company and the owner is strugling to cope which is not suprising. Corporate man slaughter charges are being looked into at the moment but I think that all that could be done to prevent such an accident was. The mood of the work force has picked up and the initial anguish from the local people seems to have calmed down. It's strange but when the chips are down it is suprising how people react to help out. And it always seems to be the last persone you would expect. The driver of the vehical was Polish and loved the job here. Unfortunatly there was two of them working for us, both were realy decent blokes and they were here through an agency. Both have been whisked away this afternoon and nobody knows where they have gone. The one who didn't have the accident has been told to come back in about two years and we will have a job for him. It' a shame that an inocent has to suffer in such a way. Unfortunatly all polish drivers in the area will be tared with the same brush. We are waiting for the dreaded tachograph inspection now, when they turn up will be the real headache. Drivers hours are a mine field as any psv/hgv driver will know. But I'm sure that things will work out one way or another.
  13. Thank you everybody on here for the support today is another day and I,ll see how things go. Dan I expect you saw it on the local new.
  14. Before this turns into a slanging match it seems that somebody is missing the point. The young lady in question, I have know for about 10 years. I have driven her to school on many occasions and watched her grow up and move onto collage. Monday night she was the last persone left on the bus and we had a realy good chat as we went to her stop. She told me how her studying was going at collage and what she wanted to do when she left, how many kids she wanted and , well , you get the message. I only came back on line as i was going to have a walk and i met the driver concerned. He was coming over to see me. I don't think that he is of a stable mind at all and am extreamly concered for his welfare. All that he could do was appologize for being a murderer over and over again. This made me think about allot of things, out of all of this I am a lucky one in a way. I have lost a friend that i know will affect allot of other people more than me. I never loved her not like her parents and that must be a terable thing to happen. I have the deepest sympathy for the family. The driver is working away from home and has a wife and young child back home. He does not know how to tell his family what has happened. I have to deal with the press for about a week and then when the court case starts. The family of the young lady and the driver have to live with this for the rest of their lifes.
