    Abu 506

Hi Big G. I Was browsing e-bay earlier on and there were two 506s from one seller at £16.00, Cant remember when they finished but they looked in really good condition, Might be worth a search?
  2. Budgie, my first fish last year was a 10oz roach fishing from the bridge at the end of the slow carrier, Fabulous looking swim: small wier with a nice trot down to the trees with lots of slack areas, Hooked what I thought was a large brownie which burnt my thumb as it steamed off only to have it break my 4lb hooklength as I tried to stop it make the tree roots but had a lovely common around 7lb a bit later on so suspect the earlier fish was a carp also.In all I fished that swim for around five hours on the day and was really surprised that there were no further roach as it looked really fishy. Really "sipped" off I cant make this year, Can anyone tell me if they restrict the coarse fishing in the week and what the procedure is to book / pay etc. To all going have a fabulous day and I look forward to the fish in reports.
  3. Have a great day all, Gutted I will not be able to make it this year, A truly memorable occasion with the added bonus of a fish or two

Hi chaps/chapesses, visiting from the coarse section as my wife has press-ganged me into a few days on the isle of wight. Are there any spots suitable to floatfished sandeel/rag at this time of year or would I be better off sneaking a beachcaster over? Grateful for any advise. kayc

  8. Was talking to one of the Dorking match squad a couple of months back who informed me it was now reasonable to target the Barbel in the weir pools from Farleigh upwards ?
  9. Hi Peter49, Try and get hold of "float fishing" by Billy Lane you wil find some great rigs in detail it may be available at your local library.
  10. Work out how far you are going to fish and invest in a wopper dropper style groundbait catty, During the warmer months I really believe you can not feed to heavily at the start of your session,Try fishing an open ended feeder to top up your initial opening barrage of golf ball size groundbait filled with your hook bait and plenty of hemp, If using sweetcorn use the sugared water from the tins in the mix.Do not be afraid to fire in 20 balls at the start and try and feed a triangle shaped patch as this allows you to "pick from the edges" ( I was once priveleged to watch the great Ivan Marks do this at Brooklands lake Dartford Fabulous!! )After an hour if not bites or "liners" put in another dozen and wait again and so on. You can sometimes wait for three four or more hours to get a bite but Bream are typically shoal fish that follow a feeding route around any water but by adopting this approach even though it may raise a few eyebrows as well as the water level! you will find you will hold the shoal longer when they do arrive,Just remember to let the tip pull right around before striking and get the fish away from the shoal as quickly as you can. apologies for getting a bit carried away with my thoughts but try it and see. Good luck with your efforts.
  11. Peter, Maybe you should take up sea fishing

    wary chub?

Hi Danny, Look to fish by any cover and spray your loose feed a little short of it feeding every cast, you may need to step down your hook length.
  13. Leon Great link and could that be the swim I caught my carp on while trotting for Grayling on the feeder at Timsbury?
  14. Hi Dan, sound advise from Steve, the only thing I would add is to make sure you have a floating line and carry some floatant with you to keep it floating, This helps you mend the line and stops it pulling out of position. Also aids the strike. Good luck with your efforts persevere and you will find this a truly satisfying way of fishing. Remember to feed every cast!

    Carp anyone?

Not big enough Dan, No problem when I built the pond and they were under 10lb and the first habitants of the pond but as the other stock fish grew at an alarming rate they really started to scoff the food and now I have to clean the filters every two / three months due to the amount of fish poo!
  23. Looking for some help or advise, My problem is I have a small garden pond with some large fish in, koi, tench, crucian and mirror carp. the two mirror carp 27lb and 18lb ( putting on apx 3lb per year )need to be removed, I have spoken to the E.A and they have advised there is no problem moving them as long as they go to a pond less than an acre and not to close to any river, They have also stated there is "considerable" value to fish of this size. These are "tame"fish and I really would like to see them go to a good private unfished pond / lake and wonder if it is unethical to sell them ? any advise / offers welcome.( p.s. they are no good as live-bait )
  24. Most definately not. ( try asking the same question around january ? )
