  5. Not taken personally but feel I need to reply, Only reserving judgement until all sides are known: I would, and indeed have been the first in the queue when witnessing wrongdoings and indeed have stepped in personally. ( Just so you know)
  6. It does appear the decision to sack was harsh but I reserve my judjement until after the tribunal if it gets that far as we only have one side of the story.
  7. Oh dear!! Great post absolutely oozes passion and I think you may now be well and truly hooked on the magic of the Bure and surrounding rivers, I hope to be reading your posts on the broads in twenty years time.
  8. Hi Anderloo, Well what a coincidence!! Like yourself I have only used my pin`s for trotting; until yesterday, Took the wife to a well known local complex of lakes and found that much of the lake I intended to fish was reserved for "night" anglers so opted to fish between two lakes. set up with straight waggler matched to 6lb main line and 4lb hooklength, same set up as the wife and fed heavily hemp and corn after a slow start coupled with the occasional re-tackling of the wife ( wind reeds and women dont go well together!) I decided to put up another rod matched to my pin 6lb line straight thru to a hair rigged haiibut pellet to dangle in the adjoining lake: zit!! nothing so returned to my "real" swim and continued with the waggler and started to get bream quite regularly but the wind had got up and I struggled for the correct presentation and almost in despair picked up the pin rod slid the float up to around 9 foot anf flopped the gear out and continued to feed between the reeds on the left and right of me and fished no more than a rod length out and started to "bag up on the bream all around 3lb with three over 5lb and interupted by a 23lb 12oz mirror that went like s**t on my tackle, I honestly did not think a rod could bend so much!! On reflection I think the "method" was similar to fishing a pole in that it was precise and allowed accurate feeding and presentation and the carp was the icing on the cake. I will certainly not restrict my pin to two trips a year on the rivers in future.

  14. Not funny for me but it was for everyone else: During a summer league match on the Kentish Rother many years ago and acting as "runner" I was perched behind one of my team offering advise as it was blisteringly hot and the fish were scarse,( yes even the eels!) and most anglers had scaled right down except for the angler I was behind who was fishing three large "gozzers" on a forged 14 hook with the attitude If I am only going to get one bite I want to at least win my section, as I reminded him it was a team competition he went to cast to the far bank and thought he had caught his hook in the bank behind but after tugging and hearing my muffled yells he realised he had hooked me fair and square in the top lip!! After the match at the weigh in one infamous angler who is known as the "Lasher" asked if I realised I had a large hook and a length of line havging from my lip and offered to remove it with the rustiest pair of pliers I had seen. Needless to say I declined and had it removed at the local hospital. Now While I will not name the angler in question for the Kent lads if you ever go in-to a tackle shop in Blendon Bexleyheath ask the manager if he has learnt to tye size 24 hooks yet!!
  15. --> QUOTE(Norm B @ Jun 7 2007, 08:53 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's a coincidence, Rapala have just sent me a big box of lures, they're great but there wasn't an airline ticket to Cuba with them, I'll just have to use them on the south coast or Alderney. Ah! fond memories of Raz at high tide.
  16. well thats the last time I eat prawn, never realised they smoked!

    Flying Bream!

Seems shallow water is the common denominator then. thanks chaps.
  19. Well I have seen it all now,After 38 years fishing it is not often you have a new / strange experience. Went fishing at a Kent lake that is stocked with a variety of species and began getting bites on corn after an hour feeding hemp and corn, a succession of F1s and Tench followed interspersed with the odd Bream now here is the odd thing Three of the Bream I caught "leaped" (not just jumped) from the water on hooking in excess of 18" and one of them leaped three times they then all came in like normal Bream, all around three pounds. Has anyone else experienced this before?

  21. Hi to you all, hoping you can help I am going to stay with my sister in law in her new bedsit on the isle of weight, her husband would like me to show him how to catch mackeral etc and i do occasionally fish for pollack, bass etc using both float and bottom fishing tactics so I am O.K. there but I was hoping some kind soul can tell me the best spots around Shanklin and if the mackeral are in yet. (I may even be able to negotiate reduced rates in his bedsit for any anglers wishing to visit?) thanking you in advance.
  22. Unfortunately I am unable to go this year as my new job dictates I work this Sunday night, the first in twelve weeks!!I really wish you all well and hope you have a great day or two, even if the fishing is hard I am sure you will enjoy the experience and hospitality of Steve and co: Regular updates please and lots of pictures. (Medway Green: If you are feeling guilty feel free to finish fishing early and come join me at work Sunday )
  23. I think I am destined to remain a mullet virgin!! after thinking about fishing for them for a year and a half I finally decided to have a go this spring. After seeing Andrews post and being relatively local I have decided Sun pier is my best bet: first trip two weeks ago had to have the air-con on the trip down, started fishing small waggler around my bread bag, bottom pontoon with a "slight" head wind after two hours I could not feel my fingers, just shows how much colder the water is!! having said that my float did bury while I was picking up my drink and I snatched at the rod like a kid with his first bite resulting in the biggest birds nest I can remember for a long time. Had a few hours spare today and expected some light rain so remembered to take a jacket: two hours later almost seesick from the gale and white horses rocking the pontoon blanked again. I will get one of the buggers!!
