  1. Did you know that boilies were invented by Indian gillies fishing for Mansheer over 100 years ago! They made their famous raki paste and boiled it to make a hard bait that would not fall apart in the fast, hard flowing boulder stewn rivers in India.

  3. Mr Taylor regarding your article page 36 Angling times this week 'reservoirs are an untapped goldmine...' If you are refering to LAC Suffolks Levington water, here are some facts : The biggest bream stocked was 16lb not 17lb There were only 11 big bream stocked, not a very high volume! The water is between 2 - 3 acres and upto 30ft deep. One of the countrys biggest fish suppliers stocked the fish and said the bream would thrive. The water was taken over by us last year and had not been fished for 14 years. The carp that have been in the water all this time go upto 25lb and have grown on natural foods. If the water can support between 50 - 60 double figure carp for all this time I am sure it will support the bream. Boilies are banned on all our waters and all fish we have stocked are growing at a very hig rate. I take it that you heard about the stocking from a Breakaway pit regular who is jealous that he has to buy a day ticket / all night ticket every time he goes after the breakaway bream and contend with all sorts of people who bombard breakaway pits with boilies, groubdbait etc 24 hours a day 7 days a week. We only pay GBP50.00 per year to fish for our bream and only see a few anglers when we fish. John Wilson fished breakaway for his go fishing series and struggled for two days even though his swims were pre baited and only himself and his brother were fishing. Breakaway bream are rarely caught due to very high angling pressure. We think breakaways are scared because their bream make the angling press every time they are caught and have had a monopoly on the Suffolk bream scene and now there will be some new Suffolk bream in the press once they are caught. We have a big waiting list to join our club which split from FMS a few years ago, there have been rumours spread around Suffolk that we are going bust and the lakes we rent are up for tender. THESE ARE UNTRUE. The fact is that alot of anglers are very jealous of our club, waters and fish stocks. It is FMS own fault that they lost one of the best fishing locations in Suffolk.

  5. My fishing club have just stocked some very big bream into one of our lakes as follows : 1 x 16lb 4 between 14lb/15lb 6 between 11lb/13lb The total weight of the 11 fish was 141lb. The reason for this is that any small fish stocked go missing due to big black flying pests. We are also stocking 150 tench between 2lb/3lb to try and counter problem!!!!!! The idea is that 1. they cant eat these fish and 2. more people fish this water (it is rare to see more than three people there in the summer and any in the winter) so that any flying pests are encouraged to stay away! Does anyone have any ideas how to catch these bream! There are already upto 100 carp with weights upto 25lb, approx 500lbs bream upto 7/8lb and tench, chub, rudd and roach (if they survived the winter! (we stocked over 2000 roach last season upto a half pound but they havent been caught in very big numbers)). As you can see it will be difficult getting through the other fish (hopefully!) The water is up to 30foot deep in the middle and does not have many features. I have thought of trying to stalk the bream but this could prove very hard. ANY IDEAS PLEASE Also what is the currant bream record for the UK and Suffolk. Please help.

  7. Personally I'd like to buy my fishing license by Direct Debit, like I do my TV License. That way, I don't have to worry about rushing down to the post office to queue up for half an hour to find out they've run out, or they don't sell them here etc. and I know I'm always covered. It's something I always buy, every year, so why not by DD? I have received paper work from EA asking if i would like to buy licence using DD

  9. Have you tried hairrigged maggots? Tie the knot less knot using mono and leave a long lenght of line to use as a hair. Use a baiting needle to thread maggots onto hair. Pass end of hair through back of the hook eye. Use a lighter or match on end of line to make a blob that will not pass back through hook. rudd
