    TURBOT INFO

If its off Warkworth Beach, then I will get the gen of my mate who has a caravan in the area. We do not get many Turbot up the Medway, mind you I have always fancied looking for Mullet in Amble harbour.
  9. One of the lads I started fishing with, at Killingworth Lake near Newcastle, Lawrence (Florrie) Hunter used a bamboo cane with a length of mono float and a hook and i remember he used to catch (Gudgeon mainly). I wonder where he is now?

    ANGEL HAIR

I have got something called Polar Hair which looks like Faux fur on a woven backing it is quite long 2-3" and is available from Farlowes, could this be the same?
  12. I dont know the carp rod, but the Hyperloop Barbel rod is excellent, pretty good at small water carping and floater fishing as well.
  13. Paul D Nature is about checks and balances and I am afraid a Heron is just one of them, young herons are in turn predated upon, by Peregrines foxes Goshawks (if you have them in your area).
  14. I used to have an Intepid Black Prince, alright as things went but things started looking up when I aquired first one of the then new Daiwas, it had bearings and then a Mitchell 300 which i used for everything even sea fishing. My first decent Rod was a Edgar Sealey Contestant, which seemed brilliant at the time.

    Beach rod

Re the long rods its not just on the med where these rods are being used the local match Anglers are using them on the Atlantic coast as well and over some pretty rough ground, also if you watch one of these matches or look at the photos in the local tackle shops they are catching some pretty decent fish on this gear. I have spoken to Stevie Allmark and he reckons these rods are the dogs ****. I think we may be guilty of our Little British prejudices here, thinking the gear we have is the only way forward, I intend to use a long rod this summer of the Kent coast and will advise further. They are also way cheaper in Europe even for the top of the range titanium jobbies, I wonder why we are being overcharged again. [ 03. March 2005, 01:33 PM: Message edited by: Tony U ]
  17. I could see this going down a storm on my local carp lakes and I bet the salmon Bailiffs would love it as well.
  18. I have just tried to look up my old sources of commercial food flavourings and it transpires that both Daniels and Pointings, who were the major UK suppliers have been gobbled up by other competitors. So I guess my zing will never again be available unless anyone knows otherwise? It always worked for me on a fishmeal base why I do not know, any way I am banned from making boilies since my experiments with lug and crab flavours. I did pick up some concentrated Sardine oil, in Spain at the weekend and I am still pondering the posibilities (at least those that do not lead to a divorce).
  19. Budgie I do not know pink zing so I have no idea; it has a fruity sort of smell a bit like the richworth Tutti Frutti but with a bit more citrus. It was for a soft Drinks factory in Tanzania and I believe the flavour came from Pointings (who used to do most of the commercial carp flavours, they have since been taken over by UFL), and it was designed for the African market. I am down to my last 200mls and i do not think i will ever get a replacement. There was another similar flavour which I had a sample of, but it was never as succesful. If the weather eases i will go in the shed and dig them out from my flavours box and see if I can find out more. [ 03. March 2005, 12:33 PM: Message edited by: Tony U ]
  20. Richworth Tutti Fruttis and any decent home made fish meal flavoured with zing (a flavour I got from a carbonated drinks project I was working on).
  21. The Black Swan that used to live at the old Monk lake was pretty friendly though, kinda cute and never caused me any problems.
  22. His mother should have thrown him away and kept the stork. Mae West
  23. Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read. Groucho Marx
  24. I fancy having a go at that American Ice Fishing mullarkey, just give it another couple of weeks.
  25. Mine is off to work, I am not back until Monday. Black Lion tonight Den? [ 03. March 2005, 10:38 AM: Message edited by: Tony U ]
