  1. OK, i`m keen, i will battle the weather BUT my question is, what do i wear? I have sat on the banks in about 3 t shirts, 2 jumpers, and a thick army coat, pair of jeans and socks and boots, YET i`m still freezing my b0!!ocks off! so my question is what should i wear, any good stuff available, aint a lot of ££ so can`t spend too much...but out of interest whats the best? Also planning on spending a night out soon, when i get my carp rod....what will i need for that ? Chris [ 06. March 2005, 06:21 PM: Message edited by: craynerd ]
  2. Yet again i`m writing another thanks, this time to Seph, from who i have baught his seat box and he took me on a great few hours fishing ALL the way down in Coventry!!! Used my feeder rod and he set me up a cracking rig which hooked me up a few nice fish, a bream and a nice 3/4 pund roach !!! Yep folks, they are getting bigger! over a pound next catch? First fish caught using my ledger rig too!! Very impressed! thanks Seph mate, sorted me with a nice seat box.....AND a bag full of extras to build up my fishing tackle..... lol slight problem at the end when i got back to my car and realised i`d left the damn lights on lol! FLAT battery! but got a jump from seph and back home, happy with my new knowledge and catchs Thanks again mate!!!! Chris
  3. Keep hearing everyone talking about the end of Season.....!!! when is it exactly and does that mean NO fishing....where and for how long ? Just getting into it, can`t stop now! Chris
  4. What type of bird is that in the pic way above?
  5. yes, :-S very embarassing! I`m inclinde not to say but i will...don`t laugh. Ok firstly i was out yesterday and someone did comment i needed to fill up my reel. But Jonah did notice that i wasn`t always paying attention when threading my eyes and i was causing a twist of line around the rod between eyes. I did it yesterday and said i to jonah my reel was playing up and he showed me what i`d done. It was exactly the same feeling when i was out last wedneday and posted the message, so i am guessing it was the same reason. But you were also right, my reel is a bit low so need to add some line. 6. Good point mate, i`m new to fishing but i dont think you can say that fishing has gone too far. """Quote""I thoroughly enjoyed myself! All this state of the art stuff might catch more, but is it that much better? Perhaps we have now gone too far. Fish finders, bite indicators, bankside TVs, rods that weigh next to nothing, reels that are engineering marvels, rigs that are far from basic, FISHERIES THAT ARE FAR FROM NATURAL, all in all a perceived notion that we must have all the latest hi-teck whatever it might be.""" It all depends on what makes u tick. As a nooby my sole mission at present is to catch a decent (not huge) fish, because all i have caught to date are tiddlers. I bigger catch that would give me enjoyment and pleasure, i dont care how i get it as long as i set up the rig, cast in and land the fish. I`m not bothered if i use a super state of the art rod, reel or bite alarm or anything from what you said above. I am so desperate to experience such a catch that i am happy to fish commercial fisheries to make that catch. So in my view tackle hasn`t come too far and never will...in my view the more i catch and the nicer fish the happier i am, and thats what its all about. The only thing i do agree is your bit that i have highlighted - fisheries that are far from naturel. At present i would be happy to catch from those, but i must admit if i do get into fishing big style, then i wouldnt be happy constantly fishing unnatural commercials...that is the only thing in my view that has gone a bit far....BUT if that gives pleasure to someone else who fishes July-Aug once a week then so be it.....its not gone to far! You may get your kick from fishing with your "Osprey Centre Pin on a 1950's whole cane butt and split cane top match rod" and hitting a nice fish! Thats great....as well. At least now there is an option for everyone to help then catch.....and good luck to the producers i say, if they can help us catch let um`! Very valid point tho, i think when we do use our alarms and new stuff we should occasionally remember how far it has progressed and what fishing use to be like. Just debating your point....!! 7. Just wanted to thank Jonah on here for a cracking days fishing yesterday.....He was first to take out some fish and was hitting them hard all day. Mostly tiddlers mostly but got a couple of nice fish including a really nice roach! Well done Jonah!!! I was sadly behind him all day on the catching front, never hit anything bigger than my palm but my total got into double figures when they decided to start feeding again at dusk. Jonah continued to reel them in, to a total of 20+. But the main thing was the experience, and i have learnt a hell of a lot. Rig setups, fish types, water types, free feed amounts ect ect.....Thanks Jonah !!
  8. Jonah, that little bugger was taking fish and distrupting our swim, it deserves it!
  9. me.. ? I`m on msn try again craynerd@hotmail.com Chris

  12. Hi guys, was watching John Wilson this morning and i noticed he uses a bite indicator in nearly all his lake fishing. Do many of you lot use them, and when is it neccessary or better to use them.... The reason i ask is my uncle has just given me one, but i dunno when to use it or how! Its made by Fox and is pretty new, he`s also given me a swing indicator to keep the line down!?!? Chris
  13. Gone for Sephs Milo box, nice bit of kit for £150 imo and some of you recommended it before! To all those who said don`t get one, sorry i take advice always BUT i really feel i would like one. Hope i use it! Chris

  15. Wednesday : Sunny spells and showers - Temp 5oC Not bad!!! what u doin about bait?
  16. What exact setup do u use then when u deadbait?
  17. Would the box on the For sale/wanted forum be any use, seller Seph...£150 ...he sent me a picture and it looks nice, although is it more for pole fishing? Also have an offer of £80 for a Milo box, unsure on the model but its blue with red and white stripes at the top if that rings any bells, looks a nice tidy box, but slightly less solid and """pro"" looking than Sephs box ??! Very confused :-S
  18. ok good stuff!!! Got my camera as well to snap those monsters :-p
  19. How many of you fish for pike, and whats the best method. The reson i say is because when i went to Burrs on Sunday two young lads were pike fishing with dead bait. Two treble hooks, one in the bait and one free, smallish rods and 5lb line. I sat there freezing my knackers off for 3 hours for one tiddler yet one of the lads pulled a damn big pike out, nice fish! Seemed a crude way of fishing, is a spinner a good way to go...i think i could get into that! a lot to learn first......just curious!!!!!!!! :-D Chris
  20. Is it still on for wednesday? Hope so, been looking forward to it....forcast shows it picking up this week!!!! Where we off....ect ?
  21. Look forward to seeing the pic, that a point, i should take my camera with me in future! There should be a thread or forum for weekend pictures! !!
