  1. They have ample prison space. The main reason is that they have probably the best re-offending rate in the world. Once released they don't come back. USA on the other hand, with its harsh and brutal system has one of the worst re-offending rates in the world. Einstein said something along the lines of "The height of stupidity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome"
  2. Interesting Chesters1. They have problems with immigrants that come from violent and repressive countries, where the police have powers to do pretty much what they like and where prisons are just like the ones that you would like to see. Seems to prove the point that I was making
  3. Interesting. Germany does have a civilised culture, but whether that has anything to do with the levels of crime I couldn't say. All I was saying was that an uncivilsed clture of lockinbg people up and executing them is not a deterrent to crime. Norway has one of the lowest reoffending rate for ex prisoners and they have a very civilised prison regime. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NuLQ4gqB5XE You may hate the isea, but it seems to work. Maybe prisons should be more like Norways version
  4. So, when Britain still had the death penalty there were no murders, except there were. When British prisons were not "soft" then there were no criminals because they were frightened of the punishment, except there were. Criminal, murderers and youths with knives don't fear the consequences. They are not frightened of going up against other gangs with guns and machetes, why would they be frightened of the law? Build more prisons and fill them up. Build tougher prisons and fill them up. Basically you just get tougher prisoners. Many American prisons are virually run by gangs of prisoners. They are not like you and me. They don't care and they don't fear what you think you can do to them. Do it, by all means if it makes you feel better, just don't expect it to be a deterrent.
  5. Just don't expect it to be a deterrent. The US has the death penalty in some states and has a murder rate of around 6 per 100,000 of population The UK doesn't have a death penalty and has a murder rate of 1.2 per 100,000 of population. We complain of lenient sentences in the UK In the US you can get life imprisonment for stealing a cd if it is a 3rd offence and they have the highest proportion of their population in prison of any country in the world. People still steal CDs
  6. I said suspicious looking. If that is the case, I don't care what colour they are. Black in black areas and white in white areas.
  7. Then they should stop and search lots of suspicious looking white youths as well. No problems, as long as the criteria for search of any colour is the fact that they look suspicious, not just their ethnic background or skin tone.
  8. Why can't you say it on here, or anywhere else for that matter.? I assume you mean black youths, they seem to be most often involved. Do you think that the Police are uaware of that?
  9. Yeah, lock em all up and execute them, like they do in America. Oh, hold on, America has a much higher murder rate than we do. Might have to think about this.
  10. I don't believe that any deal will be passed by this Parliament and it will be a no deal by default.
  11. Huge As I have said on many occasions, I think that the UK should and will leave. What I am appalled at is the total dog's breakfast they have made of leaving. The attitude of people like David Davies was "we can sort this out in an afternoon over a cup of tea." Now they have screwed it up it becomes everyone elses fault. People keep on about whining remainers. I have heard much more whinging and whining coming from the leavers of late. I think that a no Brexit is becoming inevitable and both sides, EU and UK will have to spend the next generation or two dealing with the outcome. At least it will do away with the uncertainty. Now we can all be certain that we are well and truly screwed.
  12. Gozzer Sorry, I don't agree. The EU stated their position quite clearly and have stood by it consistently. They haven't gone out of their way to make things difficult but they also will not allow the UK to cherry pick what bits they want to keep and ignore the rest. No organisation in the same situation would.
  13. I agree with you, much too late to achieve anything. It should have been done 2 years ago and should have included ALL interested parties.
  14. Gozzer Of course it would not be. Are you suggesting that a no deal would be the fault of the EU negotiators? A no deal would be the choice of the UK government. Do you think that a no deal is in the interests of all of the population of the UK or would it just please the hard line leavers, regardless of what it would do to everyone else?
  15. Oh really Can't attribute that post to malice then
  16. Sorry Ken, bur we have yet to see the conclusion of the Meuller probe. All we have is a letter from his pet AG telling us what he thinks Meuller has said. What odds will you give that the actual Meuller probe remains hidden? With regard to collusion I believe that there is more to come. Just because the pregnancy test comes back negative does not mean you are a virgin. With regard to obstruction the report catergorically states states that it does not exonerate the President. Are you seriously saying that Russia didn't try to attack the 2016 election? Are you seriously saying that Trump does not appear to give Putin more credence than he deserves? Are you seriously saying that Trmp had no cennection with Wikileaks and their release of Russian hacked democratic info? I don't have to watch "fake news" to see those things, I just have to watch Trump speaking at yet another rally. Collusion or no collusion, Trump will go down as the worst President in US history His government as the most corrupt and hopefully, will cause great damage to the Republican party for many years to come.
  17. I see, much to the leavers annoyance, May is going to speak to Corbyn. So, it has taken two years to do something that should have been done in Two days. The UK has to leave and do it in a way that minimises the damage to the UK and the EU. The EU are not the enemy, in the future they will have to become your closest partner, like it or not. I see often repeated complaints that "the EU are bullying us, the EU are punishing us, the EU have caused all of the problems, it's not fair" Not so, the EU negotiators have simply done what they were tasked with doing and that is to look out for their member's interests. The fact that they have done it so much better than the UKs negotiators is another matter. I would like to see a rather longer pause to give the UK politicians time to do what they always should have done, speak to each other and work out a way forward that helps the country and ALL of its people, To lose the sense of entitlement and to avoid alienating those that they need the most, the EU.
  18. I think that there is more to come re: Trumps actions and I think there is more to come on this subject The Mail is just repeating its stable mate's story and the Foreign press was an almost word for word repitition of the Mail'a piece. I won't comment on Breitbart's offering. I am happy to wait and see.
  19. But quite OK to accept anything the USA demand so that you can get a "deal" from the orange adolescent
  20. So, Boris is favourite to take over from May. The voters will have the choice between Corbyn and Boris to lead them into this brave new world of no trade agreements. What could go wrong?
  21. New one on me Ken, but I do hear good things about laser surgery on eyes. Whatever, I hope it goes well and gets you back some decent function. All the best.
  22. This should go down well, Let me know of any inaccuracies. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAMpJ9Yr56Y
  23. It seems the only people who are actually prepared for a no deal brexit is the EU. You know, the ones who are so desperate to avoid it at any cost. The UK government seem to be in total disarray, nothing new there then.
