  1. This has been going on across the country for two or three weeks now. Everywhere I have been and seen it, it bears no resemblance to what is happening in Paris. I have been held up by protesters a few times, usually for no more than two or three minutes. On each occasion they have been unfailingly friendly and polite. They come to the window, wish you good day and how is it going. They may ask you to sign their petition and then you are waved through. My Daughter was driving down to Spain a couple of weeks ago and found that protesters had taken over the toll booths on the Autoroute and were just waving traffic through, so she drove down to the border with no tolls to pay. Nothing like the situation in Paris has been reported and it would not surprise me if the Gilet Jaunes have been infiltrated by others with a very different agenda. As it is, no problem.
  2. Chesters You are going to have to prise my Haribo from my cold, dead sticky hand.
  3. The UAE have been very pro USA/UK for some time. More recently the current leader has been getting more friendly with Russia and China because they were not happy with the West's support for Arab uprisings, particularly in Egypt. I suspect that Mathew Hedges was involved in something and this was just the UAE's way of saying"we are on to you and this is what we could do about it if we wanted to, so wind your neck in" He walks away without embarrassing revelations and point made.
  4. That's true. Hadn't really thought about that TBH
  5. I'm sure that any of the poles in that price range would be perfectly adequate. The only thing really is personal preference and how they feel in use. Best advice is to go to a shop that has a pole alley and try out a few to find one that suits you
  6. That's the point Huge. Now we have a situation that suits no-one. Remainers certainly don't want it and I can't believe leavers do either. So, what to do about that? Plough on regardless? I had a similar discussion to this with a leaver and he said "If we stop now we will be a laughing stock" It seems a high price to pay just because of misplaced pride and I've got news for him, to a great many Europeans, you already are. They cannot comprehend why you would do it all and then, why you would do it so badly. I just feel that now would be a good time to pause, take a breath and reassess. If you are heading into a major train wreck you should at least try to apply the brakes rather than shouting "full steam ahead" I actually don't have a problem with you leaving, if that is what the majority want. On a personal level it won't affect me overmuch. I have a Carte de Sejour which gives me full rights to live in France and be treated as a French born citizen and I have to be honest, I trust the French government more than I trust the shower in the UK. It might affect my business in the UK which supplies my income, but I have taken steps to mitigate that, so we shall see how it pans out. I would like to see an orderly split which minimises damage to both sides and this aint it.
  7. I don't think I was pointing out mistruths, I think that they probably believed what they were saying. What it does show is the total lack of comprehension preparation and simple competence, which has become more and more obvious with the passage of time. They had no idea what they were getting us into and even less idea of how to proceed. I cannot believe that the Brexit which is being suggested now is what anyone expected when they voted. For that reason alone I feel that some form of confirmation based on the reality of the situation rather than on empty inaccurate promises, would be a good idea, rather than just forging ahead regardless.
  8. Phone Seems the ASPCA don't seem to agree about the overwhelming statistics. https://www.aspca.org/about-us/aspca-policy-and-position-statements/position-statement-pit-bulls
  9. Ken It is not what "they" do, it is what one particular dog did in particular circumstances. Landshark?? Mentally unstable killing machines?? Really? All of them?
  10. Don't worry BC, it will be easy. David Davis 10 Oct. 2016 - THERE WILL BE NO DOWNSIDE TO BREXIT, ONLY A CONSIDERABLE UPSIDE. Michael Gove 9 April 2016 - THE DAY AFTER WE VOTE TO LEAVE, WE HOLD ALL THE CARDS AND WE CAN CHOOSE THE PATH WE WANT. John Redwood 17 July 2016 - GETTING OUT OF THE EU CAN BE QUICK AND EASY. THE UK HOLDS MOST OF THE CARDS Liam Fox 20 July 2016 - THE FTA THAT WE WILL DO WITH THE EU SHOULD BE ONE OF THE EASIEST IN HUMAN HISTORY Douglas Carswell 8 June 2016 =- I THINK THAT WE COULD VERY EASILY GET A BETTER TRADE DEAL THAN WE HAVE AT THE MOMENT Gerard Batten 17 February 2017 - TRADE RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE EU COULD BE SORTED OUT IN AN AFTERNOON OVER A CUP OF TEA Excuse my wry smile
  11. There are many many you tube videos on "dangerous" pit bulls on youtube. Just search pit bull rescue. Given the right environment pit bulls are one of the gentlest dogs around. I wish I could own one myself, but they are banned here due to the same ignorant knee jerk response as the UK You will need a strong stomach for this one. If it is too bad fast forward to past halfway This made me feel bad. Bastards.
  12. The law on self defence allows you to protect yourself and your property when you are attacked. It does not allow you boast about your plans beforehand, lay in wait and then shoot someone in the back as they are running away. Hard to call that self defence.
  13. Planning and Preparation Prevents Pi55 Poor Performance. I think they were light a couple of Ps around the beginning somewhere. Still, I'm sure they will find someone to blame it on.
  14. So, after two and a half long and very expensive years you are finally back at square one.You have broken it, smashed it up and now no-one has the slightest idea what to do next. Actually, after the referendum, no-one had the slightest idea what to do next, so no change really. It seems that the real world has finally caught up with the lies, bullying and threats. All the best.
  15. So I suppose now we will have to listen to Trump for two years, whining and crying that the wicked Democrats are stopping him from Making America Great Again. I hope that the Democratic house does not spend too much time and effort trying to impeach him. This will just end in Trump whining that he is being persecuted (an no-one crys about that like Donny) and this could incentivise his base even more to re-elect him in 2020. If that happened God help us all.
  16. Huge I hope that they don't attempt to impeach Trump (although I would love to see his tax returns). I would much rather watch him see out his term and then he can be arrested, tried and imprisoned. I don't get my opinion from "fake news" or left wing media, the man condemns himself every time he opens his mouth and spews a litany of lies. The man is a fraud and a con man I have followed this election closely and I sincerely hope that the Democrats win in sufficient numbers to take control of the house at the very least. From close observation over the past few years you would have to say that US politics are about as corrupt as you can get, so I am not holding my breath. As an example, look at the state of Georgia, where one of the candidates is also the man in charge of the election. The same man who attempted to deny the vote to 50,000 voters because they came from an ethnic background that was most likely to vote for his opponent. Needless to say, he is a Republican.
  17. The main problem is there is a lot of political ignorance in America. It wouldn't surprise me if the majority of people couldn't name the members of Trump's cabinet. Then again, neither could Trump because he can't remember who is in prison and who is just awaiting sentence.
  18. It is Trump who has made himself the issue. He goes to rallies in support of a candidate and talks about himself for an hour. He has stated that he is on the ballot of every Republican candidate.
  19. Her you are BC. New opportunities for you. https://www.anglingtrust.net/news.asp?itemid=4638&itemTitle=Anglers+call+for+a+live-release+recreational+UK+bluefin+tuna+fishery&section=29&sectionTitle=Angling+Trust+News
  20. If we are having cake, we might as well have some tea with it.
  21. Sorry, inherently was a poor choice of words. Maybe I should have said that dogs have the potential to be dangerous. Then again, we all have the potential to be mass killers or rapists, but we don't. In the main because we have been brought up not to. If you look at the story behind almost all of the dog attacks there is a tattooed ****wit who wanted a tough dog and brought it up to be "fierce" to enhance his own reputation. Having said that I believe that all genuinely dangerous dogs should be destroyed. The problem with the dangerous dogs act is that dogs are being destroyed, not based on how they act or what they do, but on how they look.
  22. The Dangerous Dogs act is the biggest piece of knee jerk, ill informed nonsense ever. The "government" had to be seen to be doing something, regardless of whether it was the correct thing Dogs are not inherently dangerous, unless they are made so by owners ignorance or possibly their intent. A perfectly innocent Staffie could be lifted off the street by people who know nothing about it, locked up or even destroyed because it "looks like a pit bull" It is the irresponsible owners who should be lifted off the street.
  23. Deerstalker is the best designed fishing hat made. You can even drop the flaps down to keep your ears warm and tie it under your chin to stop it blowing away. Having said that, I have friend who was a ghillie in Scotland. One day he was wearing his deerstalker tied down and his client offered him a dram. Because of the flaps, Robbie didn't hear him. He has never worn a deerstalker since that day.
  24. If you judge by trump's standards anyone is good enough to be anything
  25. Brett Kavanagh lied during his confirmation hearings. Fact checkers found nine instances of untrue or misleading statements. In addition, his petulant display during the hearing where he blamed it all on a plot by Hillary Clinton proved that he doesn't have the temperament to be a judge, let alone a Supreme Court Justice. Justices are supposed to administer law without bias. How would you like to be a Democrat relying on him for justice. Regardless, the wealthy privileged republicans who feel that the law shouldn't apply to them, pushed it through for their own ends, with a mockery of an investigation. Disgraceful.
