i wander how long it would take to extract a fish as big as that from your butt.i for one would love the oppertunity to put it up there for you ,i may need some help though ive seen some plans for a potato cannon that could be modifyed.

large blues like to have a go at seals too i think.i wouldnt recomend a swim on a hot day if theres seal eating going on up there. can i go out on the big boat? dose anyone know the sea temp up there at the mo?

well i have just arrived home for sams with the free boat. im over the moon ive been looking for a wile now and to finaly get one is great! cant wait to start ploughing 20quid notes in to her, shes going to need quite a few of them but what the hell, in for a penny and all that! thanks sam i hope you will come up and have a few days up here and get out fishing on her when i get her finished and back in the water. cheers again mate you made a fellow fisherman a very very happy man. right just have to move house in 3 hours catch you all in a few days ;-)

hi people i have just seen some stuff in my dads fly tying kit and i was wandering if any one has used this stuff called "silly skin"(dunno if thats the right spelling). looks great have any of you fly fished with it? the lures he has made with it are amazing it was just like holding a fresh dead bait it actuall felt like a small white fish in my hand and looked almost the same. and dose anyone know were i can get hold of it in bigger packs than are usally avialable ie 8/10inc strips.as i want to fish the sea with it and am planning some pollock/bass trips this summer and this would be ideal as i could copy my spinners and other lures with this stuff. any help would be cool

use the biggest possible bait you can. you would need to float a bait about 3ft off the bottom to keep it away from them, the big male spiders can have claws well over 20inc long pair that with some 20inc leggs and you have a very large crab. must admit if i know there around i will fish for them quiet happy around september time when they make fantastic eating. this time of year they are a bit watery to eat,but they are the first signs of the smoothounds turning up soon after the first run of spiders them so,i woudnt cuss them too much saying as the smoothounds come swim along way to come for a good feed. i would probably put my money on you bait robbers being "fearless freddys" (my name for velvet swimmers, or there frendly cousins the plain old swimming cab) if its swimming crabs you would have to keep the bait in the fridje to stop them getting at it first!

A few words on the integrity of the conservatives. MINERS SHIP BUILDERS STEEL INDUSTRY FISHING INDUSTRY SCHOOL CLOSURES (class sizes averaging 45+) COMMUNITY CENTERS CLOSED PUBLIC TRANSPORT COMPANYS GONE BUST millions of ruined lives in the 80s when they closed the lot within years. Anything they didnt close they strangled! Ill keep paying as much tax as labour needs because i have never seen the north of England looking so good! I think the fishing has improved vastly since the conservatives were booted. Labour polititions aren't perfect but at least they dont have the reputation of the conservatives. Since when did a cod have a regional problem for local government to manage? Fish have a worldwide issue to address. How can a local politition set local rules for local fishermen commecial, recreational or otherwise! Hundereds of sections of seperate legislation with licencing would make regional diffrences a pure mare! Don't get me wrong i think a political body supporting all fishing issues would be great but voting for fishing is rubbish. Polititions just look at us and see ££££s Keep fishing out of the election process, it will only lead to tears if they get votes from us. As for the libral democrats fishing promotions well done to them! Maybe they can pass some real concerns to whom ever gets the next seat in Brussels. At the end of the day all the improvments ive seen in the sea have all been as a result of the collective european agreements.

i think its lack of knowleg rather than thuggery in the most part. ive stood on popular marks and fished next to what seemed to be morons with rods. some didnt have a clue what to do so i showed them one or two things,got them a fish or two and started on one of my rants about what shouldnt be like that. after a good chat and a few fish ive watched them walking away discussing what chemicals they use in the house to prevent polloution. a little knowlege goes allong way i reacon. if people dont know better all they can do is what they know.

flounders and bass dont go any were during the winter monthes.what about the bream and smoothounds etc that are being caught further north than ive ever heard of and smoothounds being caught in december, they arnt even supposed to be on the british coastline till april/may unfortunatly bass and flounders are a bad example saying as they are native to the british isle all year round.

unfortunatly i still depend on a gaff for shore fishing for congers.there simply is no other way to land a conger in the dark on slippery rocks i tried a home made conger net,it was distroyed before i had the fish out of the water,fortunatly congers are as hard as nails provided you know were to gaff them.(avioding the belly area and especially under the jaws just behind the gills,this will kill them stone dead!)ive never managed to gaff a conger under the jaw they just spin as soon as they have there head out of the water,ive found the only way to get a conger back alive and without the fish bleeding to death after capture is to gaff the tail section just behind the anal vent. apart from congers there is no reason for using a gaff for any shore fish and i would never attempt to gaff a fish under 20lbs minimum in witch case i would lift it out on the trace.
