  1. Hi Keegy ...

Have a look in your camera menus .. or the handbook, and see if there is an option to "Format".

Possibly your camera will automatically do it when you insert your new card.

    Have fun !!

    Wiggly.

there is a format on the camera, it says format= enter. do i just put card in and press enter??

    thanks for your help again.

  2. Hi Keegy ..

First of all .. What camera and what card ??

Did you do a full format of the card in your camera when it was new ?

When you say "My card is full" can you see all the pictures you have taken on the camera itself ??

If you can, then the problem is the download system you are using.

If you can't, then the problem may be with your camera.

    More details please .... :rolleyes::rolleyes:

i have just bought a 1mb card for my camera, is there anything i have to do with it before i use it, how do you format it :wallbash: ??, do you have to do this?? :wallbash:

  3. hey John m8

    andrew

ok andrew, will do, i think the next casting day is the 29th, could be wrond though.

  4. Thats a good buy for a tripod, and it looks like it will do the just the job. :)

When I first got a camera years ago, my tripod was a dusk collecter ... that then turned into a rod rest !!!! :) Now I have one with me where ever I go with a camera, right down to a small aerial legged one that goes from under 30cm to over 150cm (it just and no more takes the weight of a DSLR and a 70-200 lens).

In my experiences some uses are ...

For landscapes - I use a tripod for 99% of landscape shots ... most of the time I shoot landscapes at the first 2 hours of light, or last 2 hours of light ... to get better control of the lighting with the camera, nice and steady framing, and nice steady sharp shots when shutter speeds a slower. I take landscapes with a remote cable attached to the camera ... save me waiting for timer, as I never want camera shake by pressing the button the camera.

For larger group portraits - when everyone is possing still and you want to get in the available light right around the frame to get everyone in shot at a shutter speed that gets everyone nice and sharp and those at the back as detailed as those at the frount (also I bounce light from the ceiling with a flash in this kind of shot). (I kind of messed up a group portait of 40 people a few weeks ago, by not using a tripod :( )

Timer or Remoted shots - taking a photo of yourself or when your in a group, or something you dont need to touch the camera ........... for example I sometimes use the tripod when taking photos of myself with fish, usually dangle something (a pastic bag) on the end of a fishing rod in the air infront of the camera around where I would stand and focus on it ... then set the timer to take a shot and go and stand where the bag was so that that Im in focus, and its a half decent shot (apart from the ugly git in the photo) :)

In short - as mentioned before, it gives you a steady means of setting the photo up, and lets you have no camera shake in the photo which is especially handy when shooting at slower shutter speeeds.

where do you get these air release timer things, and how do you fit them to the camera, all i will be useing the camera and tripod for is for takeing pictures of the lads tournament casting, and maybe a video, if i dont get on with the camera and tripod it will have to go into THE FOR SALE BIN.

MANY THANKS LADS FOR YOUR ADVICE

    .

  5. Now get yourself a remote release attachment.....

You can also use the timed release .........

    Wiggly.

just have to find out what i can do with it now.?? i know you put your camera on it, but that all i know. ??

  7. I've got a Slik 300 DX (which with a good head cost me all in all near £150) ... and also I have a bit more expensive Manfrotto tripod and head system. I use the Slik 95% of the time though, it's built like a tank, and does a fantastic job when out and about doing landscapes .... it will last you many many years. I see it has dropped in price a wee bit since I got one years ago ...

:schmoll: how do you do that :wallbash:

  9. Hi Keegy ..

    Sounds like a download problem.

Windows Camera/Scanner may not recognise some of the pics.

Does the camera have a cable to connect to your PC, and software to download the pics ?

Does your PC have a slot that you can put your SD card into ?

Instead of using Camera/Scanner, Choose "Open folder to view files", then copy the pic files into a folder on your PC.

Let us know how you get on ...

    Wiggly. :rolleyes::rolleyes:

i have cables and there is no slot in the pc for the cards, i will try THE OPEN FOLDER TO VIEW FILES, and see how it goes, thanks for all the help.

  10. hi.

the camera is a konica minolta dimage z2, 4 m/pixel, the card is a jessops 128mb s.d, yes i can see all the pictures, i use the windows camera + scanner to download photos from the card, hope this makes sense.??

  11. can anyone help.

i use a 128mb sd card in my camera, as i am just begining this photography, when my card is full, the card reader will not download onto computor, but if there is only 2/3 photos on the card it will download no problem.

    any suggestions.

  12. Hi Keegy,

i use photo bucket. no matter what pic i have taken photo bucket resizes when i upload and thats fine for the comp.

any thing more complicated and im lost.

what is the best size of photo for the comp, 640 x 480 or higher, 800 x 600, or will it depend on what your photo is.?? dont know if i will take to this, taken photos lark.

  13. Depending on camera, use a high resolution setting, but not TIFF or RAW as you may not be able to process it.

Resizing has to be done on the computor, and normally the camera has some software with it when you buy, that will need installing. Once installed if you can't work it out, ask again and say which software it is. Someone will have same and be able to give a full description of useage.

the camera that i have is a konica minolta dimage z2 4 mega pixels, not sure what you mean by tiff or raw, can you use photo bucket to re-size your photos. thanks for the help.

  14. thanks for the info, where do i go to re-size the photos as i am new to this game, would i be better to use the video on the higher setting as well  i think the lowest setting for the video is the 640 x480 and the highest setting is 2272x 1704, dont realy know what the settings are all about.??

  15. what is the best size to take a normal photo, would it be the 640 x 480 or higher, would this also be any good for video, its a konica minolta camera that i will be useing
