leadcore is good if used properly ie (needle knot)
if you cant tie it (dont use it)

That may well be the case but doesn't alter the fact that I've never heard of them. There are loads of companies setting up and making baits and all purport to be the best thing since sliced bread. Give it a year and most of them have dissappeared into obscurity. All I'm trying to say is to check out what you're buying beforehand and don't just be tempted to buy 10 or 20 Kilos without seeing and using the product first.
Rob.
give them a go.
dont knock it till you try it

Don't be tempted to go cheap unless you really know the baits are good. Nothing worse than spending 6 months blanking because you've saved 30 quid on bait. Or worse still doing the same when you've spent 400 quid+ on a trip to France.
If money is tight then I'd choose to take half the amount of a more expensive but good bait than risk using rubbish.
Rob.
catcherbaits are the real deal
they are taking waters apart all over the south.
the whites and the supreme range are my favs.
frank who makes them as been doing it for over 20 years , hes forgot more about bait then most people no. lol

I have just returned to carp fishing after a 20 year lay off and the amount of baits is pretty amazing now but if you could only use one type of boilie for all your season which one would you choose?

Morning all
This is going to sound such a stupid question, how the heck do you strike when using a bait runner reel without ripping line off the spool?!?!
Let me explain, bite runner is engaged and spooling freely, rod is on the rest with a bite indicator to keep tension. A carp walks (!) off with your bait. If I strike firmly with the bait runner engaged, it spools line off the reel a fair deal as the bait runner clutch is light. Obviously winding will disengage the bait runner to normal clutch mode ... surely you don't do this before removing your rod from the rest and bite indicator?
Is there a sure fire method of using these things or am I just going loopy?
lift and reel it in mate

I trust you reported the drunken 'anglers' to the bailiff / owner ?
Rob.

just thought i would share my experiences with you on a short session i had at a Kent still water on new years eve.
me ,my wife and friend (all keen anglers) had a really weird session , got on the water about 8am there was only 2 other anglers there
fishing was hard all day, about 3pm the guys on the opposite bank had a screaming run after about a minute we thought it strange that no one came out of there bivvys to take the fish, well the bite alarm kept screaming for about 2 Minuit's longer
we ran around to the bivvys and my wife reeled the fish in , i looked in the bivvys to find a guy comatosed stinking of booze, well after a good few digs he finally awoke, he staggered to his feet and got quite aggressive and insisted on landing the fish , he grabbed the net and fell straight into the water head first (what a ****) i released the fish a 16lb mirror, and we pulled the drunk out
his friend was found about half an hour later asleep by the match lake
so i blank and the drunks catch fish, what a session

When Fishing for Big Carp in Rivers, use at least an inch of bread flake on a size 8 hook as you can catch massive carp.
you the man dave

I can tell you whats helped the modern day carper the most, having little muddy puddles stuffed full of carp that are so hungry they jump into their keep nets.
lol lol

im in two minds whether to continue fishing or not mainly due to my fishing buddy quiting fishing. now i have nobody to go with but a few lads from school that go to the lake i go to said that i could tag along with them if i wanted. so give me some encouragement to stay on.

Excuse the cheesy grin, there was a bit of ribbing going on, and obviously i was/am happy as larry larrason in a bath or larrybo's
She weighed in at 31.8lb
Caught at woodys lake (cobblers mead) in Corringham, On a bait so secret that we had to rinse the fish's mouth with listerine before letting her go
nice one geezer
was it a good scrap, how long did it take you to get in.

Well done nice to see some one smiling in a photo! Terrific second fish took me 6 years to get my first twenty (and thats 6 years fishing for carp as I had been fishing for other stuff for over 16!)

Last night I turned up with my Father in Law for an evenings Tenching on the botton pool at Ladywood.
On arrival we found that just about every carp in the pool on the top sunbathing.
I have fished here for ten odd years and never realised just how many carp are in the pool.
There were Ghosties, grass, common and mirrors of all shapes and sizes.
To cut a story short for over an hour I walked and stalked without a rod trying to interest them with freebies.
Then a few started taking tiny bits of crust very gently off the top and only if the rudd were having a go!
I set up my super specialist with 5lb line straight through (thought I had put on the 8lb spool but didnt realise until after my cast) to a size 8 drennan super specialist with a tiny piece of freelined crust.
This was flicked as far as I could get it, approx 12 foot from bank (I was sitting well back from the edge in camo). It took an age as fish swam under and around my crust until it disappered without so much as a slurp or swirl, it just disappered in an instant.
I struck and after a battle under the rod tip and one rip roaring 30meter run I landed an 8lb Grass carp.
I am still well chuffed as this is only my 2nd ever grassy.
Afterwards I put on a float and took several 5lb Tench to end a very satisfiying short session.
nice one mate

What do you mean, "remain"
(sorry, couldn't resist. I have the utmost respect etc etc, especially as all of them are bigger than me. In fact much bigger, as they eat all through the night and then have huge fry-ups at dawn ... oops ... how do I edit this??)
{Here you go. I'll help you out
Newt}

Hi Gaz
My first plan of attack would be to find out as much about the venue before you get there, (ie) Is it a commercial water, and if so does it have a telephone number. If it does there is a good chance you could talk to a Bailiff or even the owner. Ask him as many questions as you can, like, how is the lake fishing at the moment, what swims are producing, what are they being caught on, what tactics etc. If they are any good at there job they should be able to tell you all the information you need.
If it doesn't have a phone number then when you get there i would suggest you take a good walk round the lake and look for any signs of fish activity. If anyone else is fishing stop and have a chat to find out if anything has been caught and from what swims etc.
If you don't manage to speek to anyone then you will have to rely on observation and try to find signs of fish. If you do spot fish, and if there is a vacant swim then that would be a good a place to star as any.
Most importatantly, enjoy it.
Hope that helps
Steve
Hi gaz
spend a few hours at the water before wetting a line
just look and listen, try and find where there moving and remember every water has a secret, use your gut feeling about it
have a good one mate and catch loads.

Make sure there is still some skin and fur attached then hook through that.
LOL

Well these past couple of weeks, i've had me rods out again........a greys 7 foot stalker and a shimano hyperloop.
Bottom line is I hate catching fish on the hyperloop and the greys just brings a big grin to my face everytime I play a fish on it such is the beauty of the feel. You'd be surprised how far it'll lob a method feeder too for a little rod !
I wouldnt swap it for the world and might buy another one this summer and build meself a mini pod to take em
i agree the greys are the biz for the money, ive had mine for quite a while now
i have just bought a century armalite mk11 and what a rod that is, its a bit pricey but my god its in a class of its own.

didn't get out over Easter because of work, just done 7 days on the run while full of cold, managed to get out today first day off, went to lizard lakes in west drayton middlesex, thought I might catch 1 or 2, but ended up having my best day ever, first carp a common went 13lb 4 oz, next one baby mirror about 8lb, after that came a 14lb 12 oz common, then a 15lb 4oz common, next was another 8lb mirror, then came my first pb common which went 17lb, then came my second pb common which went 17lb 12oz, then came the last one a
10lb common, just a shame a 20 didnt come along that would have made my day, all were caught on fusion boillie, the small ones were all caught on a semi fixed rig, while the big ones were on a running rig.which was amazing because most of the carp were on the top, all mine were caught off the bottom.
i had a short session on my local day ticket
16lb 8oz common, it was just nice to wet a line

hello
when putting a pop -up to a d-ring why not use a bait band, dont put the band around it but through it, as you would on a hair rig, just attach the band over the ring and with baiting kneedle pull straight through pop-up (hope you understand)
