  1. Hello m8, a big thank you for the grub you left us, the cheese and cold meat went down a treat when I made up the lads pieces. after you left the fishing didn't really improve that much, the Coalies went right off as the spawn increased during the days ahead, although we did manage to catch a good variety off fish, with Lobsterkid catching a nice Angerfish and Adeys was the Haddock king, myself unfortunatly I dropped a couple of Haddock so im still after this elusive fish ( well for me anyway) had some great Pollock fishing from the rocks at the point got these 2 within 10 mins of starting, dropped another in the water when I slipped on me arse me with another Cod and Adeys Haddock Lobsterkids Angler Lobsterkid is doing a full report over on WSF here is the link there will be more pics on this and a fuller version of our tale of woes http://www.worldseafishing.com/forums/show...ad.php?t=115536
  2. Hi Ron, You might be better off posting your question over on http://www.worldseafishing.com/forums/ , put it in the International section and some of the locals who stay over in Norway will give you all the answers you need. john
  3. Glad to hear he's doing ok , top bloke I fished with him a couple of years ago, great guy he couldnt do enough for you. Also had a good wee swally with him in the boozer afterwards
  4. Hi m8 yeah you want them to be firm. " They will feel like strips of liquorice or leather and be extremely firm which makes them great for casting. As soon as they enter the water they will re-hydrate and go back to how they were complete with nice juicy guts still intact. " <---- quote from Bobs webpage
  5. I salt down any unused Lug from a days fishing, it keeps for ages either frozen or in newspaper, follow this link and it will show you how to do it. Lug is better preserved with the guts in, IMHO http://codheadbob.tripod.com/topmarks/id36.html The only thing different about Bobs method for me is that I only give them about 2 days in salt as I have found any longer they tend to go like mush, once they have been salted down I then lay them on newspaper to mop up any excess moisture then I wrap them in paper, after this you can freeze them or keep them unfrozen
  6. Here's the very lass your talking about Jai left in October and many of you have asked where she is now. The plan was for her to have a month's holiday but three days after getting back to Thailand she was offered the opportunity to skipper another large fine sailing ship. This time the six month voyage will be around Indonesia. I'll join her sometime in February as her 'crew'. Jai became an even better crew this year. I think she impressed us all with the way she just never stops working. She's there with the bait, she's there with the net and she's there to take the fish off the hook and then deal with it. She cannot do enough to help. She tries to explain to me that as a Buddhist she is on this planet to make people happy. If she works well and be helpful and make the customer happy then she is genuinely delighted. It's certainly a great attitude to have. The only problem is if you're not happy then she really thinks she's failed and it can take a bit of time to explain things! But many of you took the time to tell her that she was a superb crew. We were all amazed at how well she handled the fish, unhooking and filleting everything. She was a real grafter...and a brilliant cook. Again this year, I had some fabulous Thai dinners on the boat in Alderney whilst you lads were away to the local hostleries. The main reason why Jai came to England this year was for her 6 month work experience as part of her Ocean Master training which is a three year course in Thailand. This course finishes in April 2007 and then 'the world's her oyster' as we say. I don't know if she'll be back as who knows where the sea will take her. Jai wishes me to thank the our many customers who were so kind to her during her six month stay here. I hope she can come back next year but that will depend on her own work. So, I am sure we all wish her well and to thank her for her persistent cheerfulness, unending politeness and willingness to help everyone!

  12. Went to a WSF fish and meet last night, weather was dire, rain rain and more rain with a good wind chucked in, arrived a wee tad late for said meet ( bloody caravans grrrrr ) finally meet up with the guys, they were all fishing when we got there, wasnt that much room so we moved up the loch a bit, set up the rods and fired out Macky/Squid baits, getting tell tail Whiting knocks almost straight away, baits were getting shredded quite quickly. 1st fish to be caught was a Doggy followed by Whiting, around 10 ish I had my 1st Doggy followed by 2 Spurdog then another Doggy after this it was the odd Whiting being caught, around 2am I had a good Thornback around 5lb, hour later had another maybe 4lb ish, would probably have caught more fish but I had to get me head down as I was Knackered not easy trying to sleep in the wet last 2 fish I had were a nice Whiting and a Codling all fish returned for you conservationalist out there

    Winds?

Except up here in the east of Scotland, come winter time we are looking for a good blow from the east, it stirs the bottom up gives you a great swell and brings in the Cod I know some of you lads from darn south hate an easterly but up here we love em.
