  1. John, It actually states fishing from the quay.
  2. Hello! I usually fish in September on the river Thurne in Norfolk, from the garden of the cottage we hire. It really the only time I get a whole weeks fishing. However I have to find somewhere different for next year, I have found lots of cottages in Wroxham with quays for boats and fishing, but they all appear to be within marinas. I have no experience of marina fishing, is it any good? What sort of species will I catch, I'm used to bream, roach, perch, lionheads etc. Cheers, Colin
  3. Thanks TeeBee, Seems no one else has fished it though. I've only got an old copy of John Wilson's book, and it doesn't mention it either, so I'll just keep looking.
  4. Dan, try the Ant at Ludham Bridge, it's free for 3.5k either side of the bridge. I went there in August and had a fair bag of Roach and Perch on Maggot and float. Also the park at Wroxham, good size Roach on Sweetcorn. Good Luck, Enfield250
  5. Hello, Has anyone fished the River Blackwater in Norflolk, it's a tributary of the Wensum. I can't find anything about it on the web. I just wondered what it was like, I might be going there next summer. Cheers, Enfield250
  6. I am looking to book a holiday next summer, in Finistere. The village is PENMARC'H-SAINT-GUENOLE, near Quimper. Are there any good fishing lakes close by. The only ones I can find on the web are Clearwater Lakes, but they are quite a long drive.
  7. Hello! Thanks for all the info, you ask where I'll be fishing, it'll be around Gosport as my daughter lives there. Also the kit, is a Leeda 2XL 12ft.Beach 3 piece, says it will cast 4 -6 oz leads, with a Leeda 2XL Silver x50 fixed spool reel. I haven't got a clue what strength the line is it came pre-loaded, also in the kit was the feathers and flectors an assortment of hooks, 2 leads(1x 4oz and 1 x 3oz) plus 100mtrs of 18lb mono. I doubt if i'll be using the feathers for a while, if the water has to be clear, the Solent is a bit murky. I have however got some Mackerel in the freezer along with some Sprats and Crab sticks. Oh! I nearly forgot I've got some beads and swivels aswell. Dan don't eat all the Metropolitan biscuits (Bourbons).
  8. No! Spasor, I'm a cardboard and string hero! But any how I now know how to use buth types of trace. As it happens I might have a couple of ends this evening.
  9. Thanks for the info but do I have to make a rig to take all three, or do I use them singularly.
  10. What do I do with Hook Sea Flector Mackerel Trace, I have got a starter kit and they are included but, not how to use them. Also included are Coloured Feather Mackerel trace, but again no instuctions. Any help would be useful. Cheers
  11. I have done a lot of canal fishing lately, sweetcorn seems to work quite well, have taken Bream and Roach on my last visit. Maggots tend to be grabbed by small Perch this time of the year. As for groundbait I use bread, put through the food processor, you don't need to add water it just squeeses together nicley, ti maske a cloud squeeze it looseley to make it drop straight to the bottom squeeze it tightly. If you are using a feeder, and there is any boat traffic, you will have to have the line weighted down further up than the feeder, unless you are fishing down the track. Hope this helps
  12. I thought that might be the answer, unfortunately I've had 2 blank days recently, using corn and meat. Thanks.
  13. Has anyone got a clue how to stop small perch swallowing maggots. I was out on the cut yesterday, every time I hooked some maggots it got grabed by a small Perch. I was using a 16 hook with 4 maggots and a rubber grub, but they still just grabbed them. It was a funny day though, sweetcorn started producing Skimmas this later changed to Roach. But maggots only produced small Perch (4"), almost instantly and right accross the canal.
  14. Thanks very much for the advice, the books I've seen have shown 2aaa's instead of bb's. I'll try these next time I go.
  15. Hello! I've just retuned to fishing after about 20 years, and I am finding the designation on wagglers just a little confusing. What exactly does a 6BB mean, when it comes to shotting. I used to use a quill attached at the bottom, and the shot down the line to cock it. Also knots, lots of advice on tying knotless hair rigs, but what about just tying the hook.
