  1. I hope to fish the mixed coarse lake at Broken Brea, Richmond, Yorks for the fist time this weekend. Does anyone have any tips as to favoured spots. Do the fish go for pellets, corn and meat or is it pretty much a maggot water?
  2. I am surprised that nobody has mentioned the stickleback. When it is hard fishing for roach and you are down to single maggot on a 22 hook to get a bite half the time you get a stickleback and then find that its mouth is smaller than your disgorger and you cannot unhook the darn things.
  3. I too have had lots of fish on hot dogs. the cut up into easy to hook rings. I use a size 12 hooks and a bit of grass to hold it on. Best for fishing in the margins with a quiver tip IMHO.
  4. I was interested in awaar's comment. Is it becoming common? If so what are the reasons given by the owners? perhaps poles are catching too many fish. Angel of the North also bans "the method" and any floating baits. Is this also usual? I have met none of these bans on the few commercial waters I fish.
  5. My local commercial fishery, Angel of the North Fishery, has just banned the use of the pole on the carp lake. The carp lake has fish over 30 lbs. On Friday when I went to fish I was told by the owner that she had banned the use of poles on the carp lake because she believed that a pole was responsible for some damage to a large fish. I could, however, fish the mixed coarse lake with a pole. I have tried to explain to her that there is no reason that I can see why a properly used pole should be any more dangerous to the fish than long distance ledgering or float fishing with a rod and reel. What do you experienced anglers think?
