    help

as the weather is getting colder i need some advice,i have a pond in my garden and have noticed over the last week it seems to be losing water, which i put down to a hole somewhere,i am hoping that someone out there can advise me on the best way to do this as i dont want to disturb the fish during the pond being emptied but i feel i have no choice. The fish currently in the pond are tench both gold and green, small golden rudd, blue orfes and a few goldfish,i can get hold of a holding tank while i empty the pond but am worried that it may stress the fish out to much, anyone out there with advice on this subject will be a great help to me so look forward to hearing from you hopefully.
  2. hi to all and just want to add my story to this topic,i couldnt get out over the weekend so had my first session of the season on my local river/brooke,in between holland on sea and clacton on sea, first impression was good a steady flow and a little colour, this river has a large stock of carp and some very good roach and rudd, the carp have been prominent for the last couple of seasons,so imagine my delight to bag over 30lbs of red fins,i love fishing for roach and had them going on the hemp seed after an hour, fish from 8oz up to 1lb and a couple of very nice rudd, fishing the pole to 9 metres and i very light rig was the key to todays session.it made me understand why i never fish in the close season today it was fantastic and after 3months wait what a start.
  3. have taken on board what has been mentioned and it would appear that the problem is widespread,i have since been in touch with my 2 local tackle shops and both have now put notices up in there windows, alot of people love to fish the brooke and i for one would be deeply upset if the chance to continue fishing there was taken away by the mindless idiots,on a lighter note fished on sunday with no joy,but simple enjoyed getting out there.
  4. over here in essex we have a lovley brooke which is free to fish for anyone,i have fished it for over 20years and have some great days fishing there, the brooke has large carp, big roach, rudd pike, and several other species.my reason for posting this is yesterday i went for a walk along the banks to see what sort of state it was in,i was disguted by the ammount of litter that was left laying around, the farmer who owns the land around the brooke has cattle in this field and im sure if one of his cattle dies via eating or standing on something that the careless angler has left behind he will soon put a stop to us fishing there,i personal filled 3 black bags full of beers cans, sweetcorn tins, groundbait bags etc etc, please anyone who fishes there TAKE IT HOME WITH YOU,
  5. sorry should have said looking for a stretch near london or just outside
  6. hi all, hopefully someone may be in the poistion to offer advice on where the best day ticket spots are on the thames,im looking to fish for roach, bream, chub and hopefully barbel, any advice on hot spots or just swims for a good days fishing when the season opens on rivers.thanks for your time mark.
  7. john, thanks for info come yesterday did try to ring you but no reply,im gonna take a drive over the weekend to have a look, how do i go about joining would i need to contact yourself or the club. mark
  8. as i have said before not far from my home is a lovley slow flowing brook, stuffed with carp, roach and rudd.this water is free to fish in parts and brings total enjoyment to anyone who works on ther fishing.last sunday i went for a walk along it and was disgusted by the ammount of litter that lined the banks, the farmer who i know enjoys fishing himself but he also keeps cattle on this land,he assured me fishing will still be allowed on the brook but if the litter remains it will end fishing for all of us.to anyone who knows this water they will understand what a loss this would be to anglers,PLEASE do all anglers a favour and take your litter home with you, theres not many free waters around nowadays and i for one want to keep this one. mark
  9. thanks for further advice, and glad you had a good weekend.your advice has helped me out no end and im hoping to get to the river some time this week,re casters would you say that is the best bait to use, cheers mark.
  10. judith, sorry to hear your misfortune,i made the same mistake years ago, have learnt the hard way.just one bit of advice if you have car boot sales near to you check them out, all my tackle i lost turned up at a car boot sale so its worth checking them out . mark
  11. thanks for some very detailed information,im sitting here planning a trip there early next week so will take on board all you have kindly sent me,one question i will ask do you need to go heavy re line strenght, hook size and are big baits good to use, also by loosefeeding does this attract loads of the smaller fish along the stretch. mark.
  12. john, any information you have would be more then welcome, if i cant fish i love to talk about it,and as its about an hour drive from where i live im very serious about the fishing down your way,as dedham and flatford have been very slow this year ,but like you said its down to the lack of rain. mark
  13. hi john, are the areas around sudbury day ticket waters or would i need to join a club to be able to fish them,i think the flow is abit stronger down that way, also have you heard of any barbel being caught down that way as i undersatnd some were meant to have been stocked in the stour.
  14. thanks to all for such quick replys,i will be heading to the river lea asap, sounds just what im looking for, once again thanks. mark
