On 30th October I had an op on my right hand for Dupuytren's Contracture.
In for 4 hours, under a general anaesthetic, my hand was opened up an unwanted tissue removed, finished off with 22 stiches.
A couple of weeks with my hand in splint, it was apparent from the start that there was some nerve damage to the nerves serving my ring finger (one side completely numb and tingling/numbness at the top).
But it was after the dressings came off, and physio-therapy and night-splinting underway that I started to experience numbness and tingling in my thumb and next two fingers, which has since worsened (median nerve).
With quite a lot of odemea, it was hoped the symptoms would clear once with swelling was down.
Sadly, not the case and it's now suspected that the nerves are being compressed by scar-tissue at the carpel tunnel, with the surgeon looking forward to opening my hand up again
Apparently I've the nerve conduction testing to look forward to first.
After 3.5 months of intense physio (4 x 1hour a day, well I manage 3), I was looking forward to having a fully functioning hand back by now, rather than still a way to go with my physio (my grip still isn't quite there), and a further op to look forward to.
There's a lot of fishing to be done! (I'm managing to cast my fly rod, and landed an 18.5lb trout, but my casting isn't what it was, and I need to get some power back into my beach-casting for the thornback fishing next month).
