  1. haddaway the lot o' ye. It's a sellafield sprat. They can grow up to 18 feet on a 'leak' year!!!
  2. I'm no Rex Hunt, but I seriously doubt it's a pollack. It's too light, Pollack have a white belly and greeny brown top dont they? At a guess I'd say probably Bass or maybe Mullet? What type of area was it caught in - that would be a big clue!
  3. "We're gonna need a bigger boat."
  4. Great Whites don't frequent the UK coastline because they're intelligent enough to know that we'd catch 'em!!!! Either that or they poke their heads up and get scared away by some of the ugly b@st@rds sitting on the ends of piers etc!!!!!
  5. Ooo-err, I stirred up something smelly with my comments... At a blatant guess I'd say that there are so many people slaughtering fish un-neccesarily(sp?) that the whole of shore fishing will be totally screwed within 20 years anyway. I'll just enjoy it while it lasts and feel a whole lot less guilty if a small fish I catch ends up as 'one for the gulls'.
  6. Thanks very much Nick. So are you a boat fisherman or a land lubber like me?
  7. Ahh, the spirit of free enterprise eh? Nice to see that our european bretheren can deplete our dwindling fish stocks to supplement their meagre benefit package. Come on chaps, How else would they afford to buy Nike Air Max trainers for the 9 children they brought from Bratislavia??
  8. BUMP! Surely someone on here fishes the Northumberland coast?! Anything interesting to share? Pleeeeeeease? [ 03. August 2005, 04:29 PM: Message edited by: tyneside tiddler ]
  9. Hi all, After a poor trip to the mull last weekend, I fancy staying local and catching a tide off warkworth breakwater (Amble north pier). Does anyone know what, if anything is around at the moment. I'll probably just try for flatties and mack but any recommendations would be appreciated.
  10. Anyone up there this past weekend? My first time there, but the lads who've been loads say it's the worst trip they've had... The potters have a lot to answer for!!.....
  11. I read somewhere about warming the mould with a candle. Supposedly this dries the inner surfaces and the soot coating makes the sinkers easier to remove. Has anyone tried this? Is it worth doing? You chaps are a mine of info. Thanks again & keep it coming...
  12. Cheers chaps. If I start to make loads of typos, I've burnt my fingers off!! If I stop posting, it's 'cos I've tried to cut a gas bottle in half and either died or gone for medical attention!
  13. I'll keep my eyes peeled, cheers. What about a heat source, wires, cheap or free lead etc??
  14. Cheers Norm. I only found about 4 charters and they seemed to be in the same family!! They were also v. expensive ($450 for half day!!). Not much good for me to fish on my billy! Shame though - I really fancied fighting something stupid like a tuna or shark.
  15. Ahhhhh I see..... (Never spent any time with experienced anglers yet and books etc don't come in dialect!!) Maybe you should move back up and write a local shore guide? Good excuse for erm... 'research' anyway!!!
