  1. Sorry Will, I haven't forgotten you. I'm sorting the mod out at the moment, I've drawn something up and should have it made in the next few days. I'll send you a picture when its ready. Andy
  2. Thanks guys for your compliments on the AN centrepin, I'm glad you all like it. Rob, I'm making another batch of reels at the moment and you'll be able to buy these through AnglersNet when Elton gets it set up on the main site. They should be ready early next month. I'll pm you with a couple of photo's and a description. Andy.
  3. Sorry to here this Tony, I hope all goes well for Sue with the chemo. I'll look forward to seeing both of you at Timsbury. Andy.
  4. Thanks Guys. Are the Hoya G series any good?
  5. I'm looking at getting a circular polariser, but they seem to vary in price quite a bit. Does the quality vary as much as the price? if so can any body recommend a make and a rough price I should be looking at paying. Andy.
  6. That's a nice selection of lenses, it certainly shows in the pictures you've been posting. The 50 mm lens looks like one I shouldn't be without. My budget is £400 so not enough to stretch to the others lenses in your collection. One lens I have an eye on is the 17-85 4/5.6 IS lens, what do you think? Andy.
  7. Cheers Westie, now I have my new camera I'll be sticking around . Great photos Hellbelly. What lenses do you use as I have the same camera as you and am after some advice on which lenses to buy. Andy.
  8. Entry No. 2 ------------ I wonder what he's thinking ------------------------------- File Size: 140 kb - 640x427 Taken On: 2008:03:23 10:48:17 Camera Model: Canon EOS 400D DIGITAL Resolution: 640 x 427 Flash Used: No Focal Length: 39.0mm (35mm equivalent: 63mm... 9. Thanks Wiggly, I'll have another go next week. As far as exposure goes, on my camera I have a Flash exposure compensation setting, would that do the job?
  10. Well I tried the ex 420 flash tonight and using 1/200 shutter speed I managed to freeze the action. Still a bit of work to do getting the right settings but I'm pleased with the outcome. Will definitely be buying a dedicated flash soon.
  11. Here's a link to an older thread.
  12. Hi, I tried sending you a PM but I believe you have to get to 15 post before you can send/receive posts. Hopefully Elton will see this and get an Email to you.
  13. I don't think I've got that much left over unfortunately. The plastic we are using i think is poly carbonate and is not as brittle as perspex and can be guillotined. If you struggle with your perspex give me a shout and I'll get hold of some of the stuff we use.
  14. How much do you need Budgie? I have some at work that you can have.
  15. I'll help you out there Rich
  16. I started my kids off with a roach pole and they got on really well with it. But 9 out of 10 times it was me that ended up with roach pole as they always wanted to use a proper rod. I found it wasn't the length of the rod that gave them problems so much as the reel, I found I would spend quite a bit of time sorting out tangles. I over came this problem, after advise here on AN, by getting a closed face reel, which they found much easier to use. I also remember Newt posting a link to the Bass pro site of some ideal kits for kids, maybe he can post it again.
  17. That's a shame, the site no longer appears to be running, I'll take it off. Type dog judo in youtube and you'll see what it was about.
  18. Thanks for your help, I was wondering if a better flash would improve things. A friend has an EX420 flash that I can borrow, so I'll give that a go and see if it helps. Andy.
  19. Entry No. 1 ------------ Centre Spin ------------- Taken With: Canon Canon EOS 400D DIGITAL File Size: 282 kb - 640x637 Date/Time: 2008:03:19 16:00:40 Resolution: 640 x 637 Flash Used: No Focal Length: 49.0mm (35mm equivalent: 160m... Exposure Time: 0.125 s (1/8) Aperture: f/9.0 ISO Equiv.: 400 Whitebalance: Manual Light Source: Daylight Exposure: aperture priority (semi-auto)
  20. As well as fishing I am quite passionate about my judo. I have been doing this for years and looking back I have never been able to take any decent pictures of it. One of the main problems is Judo is an indoor sport and lighting is not the best for taking action shots. I had a go tonight with my new camera and the pictures were better than my old point and shoot but I still think they could be a lot better. Below is a picture of my daughter performing a forward roll, can any one give me any pointers on how I could improve on this.
  21. Your first 15 posts are checked by the moderators and can take a bit of time to show. After the 15 posts they will show straight away.
  22. Hi folks, first post in the photography forum so go easy . Bought myself my first DSLR last week. I finally opted for a Canon EOS 400D, hopefully it'll do the job, I think it will judging by some of the photos on here by others that have the same camera. Here's a photo of a beetle one of my kids found in a pile of logs on saturday.
  23. Nice one Andrew, what a way to end the season....well done.
  24. Me too. I found that if you hold the fish in the flow and let the current bring it to the side, then walk to the fish while winding in the line and keeping a bend in the rod helped. A landing net with a nice long handle will also help.
