  1. Hi Gloss WHERE DO YOU LIVE , and do you have transport Scunthorpe police angling club has some nice waters on the Trent, Lady Pitt Farm near Newark about 18 miles from Lincoln. Then there's the River Don around Doncaster way behind the prison. Hope that helps
  2. got 2 of the caps, 1 for me 1 for the missus, they are good quality and nice to wear . Also got one of the baitrunner reels for £7.99, it's looks a bit plasticky but i'll see how it fishes
  3. was fishing a known perch hole at a local water yesterday and catching at distance, as the day wore on and the bites stopped I could see a lot of perch swimming in front of me about 4 foot from the edge, the water was gin clear and I could see them swimming about, and it was a bright sunny day. This was the funny thing, I started to to fish for them up in the water, I could see the red maggot I was using floating down in the water, when I scattered some freebies round my bait the perch were taking them but not my bait, so I experimented. I place all my shot directly under the float so my bait would fall more slowly. I cast out then had a few fish, they then stopped taking my bait, but still took the freebies. I then tried 1 maggot on my hook, a couple of fish took them then no more bites, they were still taking the freebies and going up to my bait and "sniffing it" but ignoring the maggots, then I tried 5 maggots on the hook, bang, a nice 2lb perch, then they ignored the large baits again but still took the freebies. I had to keep changing the amount of maggot (they ignored the worm when I tried that) on my hook to keep catching. and I was catching all size's from small to about the 2lb mark and had a good session. Now I could see the fish when they took the bait, in fact I was ignoring my float and just watching them take the baits to catch them. If I could see them surely they could see me and it was interesting to see how they were reacting and how I had to keep changing the amount of maggots on my hook to catch them. Now the question, Were they learning from experience that 1 maggot spelt trouble, then 5 maggots, then 2 etc etc and then forgetting after a while about the experience of being caught which is why I could keep catching by alternating the amount of maggot on the hook. Do fish have short term memories or were they just being fickle Interesting thought
  4. fish the Don in the city centre behind Bennets tackle shop. Grayling, chub, barble and even trout, better still go down to Attercliffe and fish Salmon Pastures, you need to tackle up big and hard on the bottom far bank if you want to not get pestered by the minnows. Had some good days down there. The fish are there.
  5. when we lived in Sheffield fours years ago we used to fish the Rother from Beighton (from the small weir) back towards Rother Valley Country park. Some lovely big chub if you can get through the gudgeon. if you go towards the park there is also a pond next to the river, used to be some big carp in there, and it's free fishing. If you not been there you should try it out. the bottom of the weir used to fish well and I saw another angler pull a 5lb brown trout from there.
  6. Guess what, who's a stupid idiot. it's been so long since i've used it I forgot thats what you had to do. At least I can now use it.
  7. Hi hope this the right place to post, I went to try my lamp which has been stuck in shed for a over a year without use, and when I try to pump it up the air will not go in. obviously something has blocked up with it not being used (there was still some fuel in it) I cannot find my manual leaflet that came with it. I can get the first part of the pump oot but that leaves a rod sticking out which somehow needs to come out and be cleaned I assume. does anyone know how to get this part out of the lamp. thanks
  8. Off to our fave perch water to get a PB perch and beat the missus, or rather I am, after last week i'm leaving the wife at home to do housework
  9. i'm going to have to stop going fishing with my wife. we went to one of our fave local fishing waters where there are some big perch. She had a good perch at the beginning of the session then not much more apart from the odd small roach or perch. I was pulling in some nice roach up to 1lb-1lb8oz, but no perch. at about 4.30pm as the light was beginning to fade I had a nice 2lb 8oz perch out. then what does she do, 20 mins later she goes and gets a PB perch(beating my 3lb PB). a nice 3lb 8oz perch. think i'll leave her at home to do the housework next week ignore the time on photo as she has not set time right
  10. Fingers crossed got Thursday and Friday off this week, so hopefully me and missus both off fishing
  11. about time too, saves me having to laminate my licence when I get it.
  12. We had an old style Renault Espace a few years back till some idiot wrote it off, with all the rear seats out we could get a double blow up air bed in it, loads of space for tackle. Got a Nissan Serena now, not as much space as the Renault Espace though.
  13. Hi try this one http://www.sycamorefarm.net/ we have been 6 times, have already booked for this year in August. never had any probs with "chavs" its a very quiet site, its about 3 miles from Skegness so you can always go their for evening if you wish, but we fish into dark. pic of wife with fish caught at site.
  14. Would you believe it, me and the missus have been keeping an eye on the weather for our xmas day pike fishing trip and up till a couple of days ago it was a south westerly wind, now according to the weather channel it's going to be an easterly at about 11kph(whatever that is in english mph.) So what does every one else think, will it be a blank day, normally i woundn't go out with an easterly blowing.
  15. targets for the upcoming year. just to carry on and enjoy my fishing, if anything special comes along so be it, as they say " born to fish forced to work"
