  1. Heres what i would do if i was approaching the lake, as i do not know it this is what i would do. How well do you know the water? Have you done any investigation, ie marker rod and float to get an idea of depth and what the bottom of lake is like? Is there any obvious features to fish against? Have you sat about and watched for fish movement, on any water i spend 24hrs watching it while i am fishing it. Get to know where the fish are and go after them. Talk to other anglers, this one i see you have tried. You have a few options on the bait front 1) Like it has been said try the naturals, like hemp, sweetcorn, maize, particles. I would make a method mix of them and target the fish that way. 2) Pre bait with a good quality boillie, get those carp used to a certain bait, i would use a mainline bait but that is just my preference. 3) Cast at showing fish 4) Try a different rig, not saying that the rig you are using is not a carp catcher it may be that the carp you are targetting are used to it and so are avoiding it. 5) Have you tried the margins, best fished over nighttime as there is less disturbance. 6) Hi viz bait, pineapple pop up (again I like mainline) 7) Keep a record in a book and take photos The key here is time and patience, until you find out what works keep trying. I general fish one lake for 3-5yrs, by then i know generally where the fish are and what they do in relation to weather patterns and what bait they are taking at what time of year. I could go on and on with this, there is so much you could try. Let me know how you get on, hope some of this helps STC
  2. Hi All Took the boy fishing for mackerel, thanks for the advice on places to go. Only caught a few but was good fun. The lad wants to do a bit of bass fishing from a boat. What i was wondering was could any one suggest a good boat company that i could hire for a couple of hours and they could take us out? Have looked about the net but i am crap at those kind of searches. Cheers guys STC
  3. Here is the picture of the 20lb Mirror, a better photo, shame about me thou. Cheers STC
  4. Hi All Did a 48hr session last weekend, caught a 22lb, 20lb, 15lb and a 18lb. Wanted to put the 20lb picture on as it is a better picture. Will put it on a seperate post. This one was a 22lb mirror of the top on floaters, it was abit slippery and decided not to lift it up to much. STC
  5. Hi Gf Bite Alarms. Have used your alarms for ages and will be getting a new set soon, Like the look of the GFs. I know you are planning on make a wireless version, however are you planning on making a dongle or not. I have been following the thread but not sure if i have missed it or not. One thing i have had to do to my alarms, is that i had to change the battery connection cable with a more robust one as the little wires came out, other than that they have done me wonder, esp the 22lb i had last weekend. Thanks and great alarms. STC
  6. Spent a great weekend session, caught a 22lb off the top with mixers, ideal.
  7. Nice one Rudd, bet you where well happy. Off after work to do a 48hr session. Hope to get some action my self. STC
  8. Hi 1) Sensitivity - Are you happy with the GFs dual sensitivity or would you prefer more options as found on Delkims etc Happy with what you have, keep it simple less to go wrong and i guess should keep the price down. 2) Bigger sensing wheel noted Sounds grt 3) Battery low level warning - I presume you would want this on head units and receiver unit? yes please. 4) I will be honest now and say I am only designing the system to function at a max range of about 50 metres, do people see this as an issue as I would say you should not be further than that from your rods anyway. 5o meters would be great, I have ur wire and extension box at the moment so 50 meters sweet 5) Could people give me an honest appraisal of where they would like the price to be for lets say 3 head units & 1 Receiver. I am desperatly trying to offer these to people at the lowest possible price but obviously the technology in these units does cost more than the GFs/GFx units unless I buy the components from China which I refuse to do Price no sure keep it as low as you can but make them as good as you can, if you are happy with your product i AM going to buy it, have used gf bite alarms for ages, do not mind paying a few pennies for a product that aint gunna break. Hope that helps
  9. Sounds ideal to me, have been using GFx alarms for 3 years and have been thinking that it was a shame that you did not do a wireless version. Will be interested when you have finished. What would i like, same as been mentioned, Waterproof, sensitivity, volume adjustable, an on/off switch, ,matching LED etc. Look forward to seeing what you come up with. STC
  10. Tis true. I have had my force 8 for 3 yrs, as long as you follow the instructions its great. I have been looking at the one man with the aluminum poles. STC
  11. I use mainline frozen boilies, have always caught on them. Not that I would not catch on something else just a confidence thing. I only get out on the bank 3-4 times a year, so making my own is not productive. However am going to give it a go one day. STC
  12. Morning all Just been down to the local tackle shop, and ideal, wealth of knowledge and experience and not afriad to share it and give advice. Sometimes I feel the tackle shop is over looked as valuable resource for anglers. My local has never let me down and I very rarely buy anything online unless I am looking for a very specfic item. STC
  13. Cheers Dude, gunna use an inline stonz shock rig variation that has worked on the water before. Thanks again. STC

  17. Hi All I have a small request. I normally can be found on the carp forum, however the Boy wants to do a bit of mackeral fishing this year and I was wondering if any one could tell me of any good spots around the Bournemouth & Poole, area that is good for Mackeral. I know its a bit early yet as i used to fish for them when i lived in Devon. Any help would be great. Cheers Guys STC

  19. I have the tfg force 8, had it for 3+ years now, it has done well, very well indeed, no problems with it at all. The legs have started to splinter abit but for a £100, it has done well. Worked out about £33.33 per year. if you want to look at it in one way. I wrote a review on the force 8, not sure where it is but i am sure Elton can tell you where it is. Or give me few minutes and i will find the link. Stc
