  1. I'd second that, horse mackeral for sure! http://web.ukonline.co.uk/aquarium/pages/horsemackerel.html Dash....Phil beat me with the weblink!!
  2. Very sad indeed, on the news it stated they were believed to be from the Glasgow area. My thoughts are with their families.
  3. Snatcher, of course all homebrew should be handled carefully....from pump to glass...from glass to mouth!! Don't worry I'm not advocating home distallation or rattling up manky old moonshine in the garage with all its associated health dangers. No I'm talking about real home brewed beer, brewed from malted barley, hops, and water and fermented with a top feremnting ale yeast. Not like the generic tasteless chemical fizz that seems to pass for beer these days! Next time you're down at the caravan let me know and I'll let you sample some of my beers, I'm from Stranraer, and see if you can pass the Scopex taste test! By the way I've four gallons of Mead, made with local galloway honey, merrily bubbling away that should be ready in a year or so and that really should be treated with respect!
  4. I like Badger beers, especially Golden Champion lovely stuff! Better still brew your own, I'm supping my way through some rather nice homebrewed Hopback Summer lighntining at the moment! Mmmmm......beer!
  5. I'd be careful with that as you may "attract" more than you've bargained for with that particular jerkbait! Used to make all manner of fishing bits from stuff I found round the house when I was younger, now older aI'm too lazy and just buy them off the net! I've still got a priest I knocked together in the shed over 25yrs ago during my game fishing days, from a length of rubber hose, a little knob from a ink stamp, and rather heavy letter punch, all very heath robinson or should that be Blue Peter!
  6. Used to get AT almost religiously for 20 odd years, now only get Pike and Pred and Sea Angler.
  7. Hi Chris, Any ABU 7000 or similar sized multi's knocking around? Cheers Kev
  8. Unfortunately in my area Maggie T's right to buy has simply meant that affordable rented accomodation has become as thin on the ground as the proverbial rocking horse $hit! Oh sure some benefited, unfortunatley at the expense of others, the biggest benefactor being private landlords who can charge what they like safe in the knowledge their is no viable alternative. Once all the nicer areas had gone the stock remaining was lumped together and after a massive PR campaign including glossy brosures, balloons, keyrings and a rather dapper video featuring a b-list tv presenter informing the tenants how fab and groovey housing assosiations are! Topped with bribes of new kitchens and shiney wc's the deal was done! End result, still the same old problems abeit with differnet faces and some new mismagement problems thrown in for good measure! Now the area has a massive problem with house prices rising so fast than local families cannot afford to buy and as for renting....forget it....you can spend over ten years on the list and then only get offered one in the junkie infested areas. Not an overstatemnt ...it's a fact, a sad and disturbing one but a fact none the less. As for benefits, the idea that all families on benefits are living the high life is frankly well wide of the mark. Undoubtably a small percentage of workshy layabouts who fiddle the system to their own benefit but for many families it's a safety net that lets them survive when things go wrong. Many even end up not claiming what their rightly entitled to simply because of the minformation the benefit agency is famed for, ask a welfare rights or CAB volunteer. I'm not the richest bloke on the planet but I don't do too badly either however I would never want to increase my own personal wealth at the expense of those less fortunate than me....as that simply smack of selfish greed....an ethic of the Thatcherite era
  9. Actually thats where I thought it's strength lies. To fairly distribute wealth accross society and end poverty is a strength not a weakness. Without social and economic equality there will always be turmoil. P1ssed of? The Pit closures implemented by the tories in the 80's can hardly be described as that, to destroy people way of life and their communities was slightly more than p1ssing them off. Is this what you really want, people poorer than yourself to having even less to live on? And as for your comment that people on benefits can afford new cars, well those that can are either selling drugs or working whilst claiming. What did the tories give us, they gave us the "I'm alright jack" society. As long as I've got cheap fuel for my 4x4 the worlds rosey. They sold off our heavy industry, they sold off all the desirable council housing with their "right to buy", which has now left many areas with no decent affordable housing. They just about destroyed the economy. They instilled a sense of greed and selfishness in us that we did not have previously. Many still wonder what happend to the sense of community in the Britain......well the Tories happened to it thats what.
  10. I've got one of those little Karchers, spot on bit of kit if you ask me, does a good job. Beware of the Argos Challange ones, I had two both lasted about 25 mins before packing in and having to be returned, hence I ended up buying the Karcher and it's been great. You can pick up extra bits cheap for them off Ebay too, the spinning power nozzle thingy is a handy gadget but dont try cleaning the car with it or it may end up minus paint....I know I've tried it on my van!
  11. A bivvy full of midgies is more than enough entertainment for me!
  12. Enjoyed chucking action men out of my bedroom window.......with his parachute of course! All went fine untill he got stuck on the roof! Six million dollar man was ok too untill his bits fell out and fluff got stuck behind his bionic eye!
  13. Possibly because both chub and rudd aren't warm blooded mammals?...........hey, it's just a thought!
  14. I've never liked football and never will but your comments are somewhat nasty given that he has only just died. You seem to very quick to judge him, did you know him personally? Best may have been a flawed genius with regard to his football career but from listening to the comments made by those who knew him, it would seem he was a genuinely likeable man, regardless of his achoholism.
