  4. ................. thanks guys, bottled it and stayed home I'm afraid but good advice for next time. Glycerine is the stuff then!!!
  5. .......... going to lake tomorrow night and worried about line freezing in rings, how can I stop this happening. Don't want rods getting pulled in while I'm tucked up in my bivvy.
  6. .......... so what will you do if you do land a decent carp then???? it'll have to be killed or you'll face a hefty fine I'm led to believe. Isn't it illegal to return any carp caught or is that just some parts of Oz? my (now ex) fishing buddy emigrated to Oz last June an lives near Perth, he's ithing to wet a carp line but refuses to do so because of the antiquated law that says he MUST kill every carp he catches. He's given up carp fishing and doesn't get on with the more popular lure-chucking Ozzie fishing too well. Please advise if there are places he can fish where returning carp is acceptable, it'll be the best Christmas pressie I can send him if it's close to perth.
  7. ........ buy fresh/freezer pop-ups? I've only ever seen or bought the shelf-life ones in little plastic pots. What happens if I remove a few "fresh" baits from the freezer, thaw them out and then re-boil for a couple of minutes, would that work?
  8. Looks goods, will check it out better when I get home tonight. Big Thanks - Phil
  9. my wife went to secodary school in Peterborough, Cambs (1979-84) but NEVER received her O level results. She has been self-employed since leaving school and never needed her "scores on the doors". Does anyone know if results etc from 23 years ago are obtainable, if so from where.

    B & B

My Son went of to Bath uni yesterday and I've told him I'd pop down and see him in a few weeks after he's settled in. Anyone on here from that area who can point me at a cheapish B & B within a mile or 10 of the university? Literally just want somewhere to get get a few hours shut-eye before driving back to Cambridge so don't need anything posh.........
  12. Hi Roy, did you pop into the shop yesterday?
  13. .... firstly Roy, please re-post your last response on "power pack" I cannot scroll down to bottom of thread to read it. What's going on with this, I posted before and know others experience the same problem, it's REALLY P-ING me off now so frustrating when people take the time to reply and I cannot see what that post
  14. ....... Found this one, tad expensive but as one of the reviews implies, it's worth paying a bit more to get quality. I'm sure it'll come in handy for other uses anyway and not be just another fishing toy as 'er in doors would call it !!! http://www.caravantechnology.com/ProductDe...px?productID=35 I realise I can buy cheaper but want something that's 100% realiable. I bought "cheap" with the TFG F8 remote alarm set and that was "True false economy" trust me!!!!
  15. ........ nah, not the batteries cos it does it when plugged into mains too!!!! possibly just faulty and 1 yr warrantee has run out too.
  16. ............ keep cutting out??????????? Totally random, sometimes it stays on for 10-15 mins others it's just a few mins. The LCD display remains on so it's not a power supply thing. If I turn it off for a few mins it'll be ok when I turn it back on but then die again minutes later. Could it be a weak signal thing????? if so it's a tad wierd cos I've taken it fishing to various locations and still it happens. Get's very frustrating when y'listening to the footy and y'keep missing the goals.
  17. Thanks Rob, please let me know. I kind of have to agree about TV's and fishing, although I've only ever taken a radio with me up til now. However, those mid winter nights are very long and mostly lonel. I bought a cheap (£12.99) B & W telly with a 5" screen so gonna give it a go this winter. Summer nights are fine, I just sit outside n read or watch the water with a glass of red for company but in winter being bivvy bound for so long drives me nuts. also have a digi radio now and that kills batteries very quickly....... it takes 6 x C size and I kill off two lots of rechargeables in a 24 hr session so hopefully power pack will help there. Some power packs I believe, also have lights built in which again will be bonus. Have around £80 in the kitty so want to get a decent one.
  18. ........ Yep, I know about Huntingdon market Kestrel but i just wanted to see what others might be using and if anyone could recommend a good reliable breed/model. I've been told to pay a bit more if using as a power source when fishing as some of the cheaper versions are ok but more suited to giving y'car battery a quick helping hand/boost on a winters morning. I mostly only do 24 hour sessions but with winter coming will start to take mini TV with me as it's a long time dark (and lonely). Is there a pack that'll give me at least 8 or 9 hours viewing from one charge??
  19. Too Much!!!!!! for an average 24 hr session it takes me 3 hours from loading car to finishing setting up and only 20 minutes of that is driving to the lake. Most of what I take gets used though. Got it down to a fine art now and get everying on my chub barrow in one go. My problem seems to be finding kit when I get there. Got so many bags and zips and I never manage to pack my kit the same way twice and i've got bags to go inside bags !!!!! 20. Mixed opinions on my lake, some fish tight, some fish slack, it's down to how the fish are behaving and responding to baits. I've been slack lining since joining the lake based on advice received from the membership secretary and from talking to some of the other established members but I know a lot swear by having tight lines all the time. ALWAYS fish a tight line (locked up!!!) when dropping your bait near to snags but in clear water it's down to choice. I suggest you chat to a few other anglers on you lake to get a feel for what works best and then experiment y'self by fishing each rod differently. There are no hard and fast rules and you'll probably find some days slack lines are needed and on other days tight lines will be called for. Slack lining is. I believe isdesigned to lay your line on the lake bed and therefore avoid spooking passing fish, sometimes it is a benefit to get a few liners from the fish cos it gives you a feel for what they are up to below the surface. Have a copule of sessions messing around and experimenting a bit, that's half the fun of fishing. It'll give you more pleasure when you catch, knowing you got it right and outwitted Mr (or Mrs) Carp.
  21. Ok mate, I'd forgotten we've had this discussion before haven't we!!! I've got a pressie for you anyway!!!!!
  22. is there a system available that I can plug into my ES alarms that will convert them or give me the remote facility??
  23. ........ have a set of these and was wondering if anyone else is using them. Have a few thoughts myself regarding good/bad points and value for money etc but wanted un-bias opionions before I mention my views and opinions.
  24. ... change skins!!!!! C'Mon this is me y'talkin' about, please advise
  25. infuriating or what!!!!!! Elton - What's going on??????? Sorry TREVOR2003 scroll bar would not allow me to read your post, please re-load onto this thread.
