  1. We've all had sessions like that............ I did a few years back when fishing lake two on the Woolpack. My brother an I had spent a whole day the previous weekend "digging" a two man peg into a almost vertical bank. It looked fantastic when we'd finished but we hadn't legislated for the 16 hours of torrential rain and face-on howling wind we'd encounter. We got through the night somehow, but it was like a Somme battlefied by morning. Neither of us used bivvies (not enough space) just butted our brollies up together and sat all night. Matters made worse because I had run after run all night and missed the lot. Horrendous session and to this day do not know how we managed to stick it out, think it was probably cos we could not get out of the peg due to the mud and steep bank!!!! Also froze to my chair one night in October (year unknown!!!) when I fell asleep (God knows how!!!) bream fishing on lake three at the Woolpack. My mate thought it was hilarious when I woke up covered in frost, went to stand up and my chair went with me. The things we go through to catch fish hey??
  2. ...... manage to get out at the weekend or like me did the November-esque weather condemn us all to doing the jobs at home we've all been putting off for weeks. It rained solid for almost the whole three days and I just cannot abide setting up in the rain cos everything gets damp and then no matter how hard I try I just cannot enjoy the session. I'm quite happy to fish in ANY weather but need to set up and get landed in the dry. If anyone did get on the bank did the fish show up or did the colder weather put them off too?
  3. I tried in vain I'm afraid !!!!! Moved on now, fishing Heron Lake @ Wyboston but biggies are still evading m'baits.
  4. ............ answered my own post, found this:- http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/arti...in_page_id=1770 AWSOME !!!!!!!!
  5. ......... a 40kg fish has been landed in France, is this true?
  6. Stupid me !!!! Thanks kestrel, it was "TRAKKER" I needed to talk to and not JRC. Be warned one and all, the lady @ Trakker was absolutely adamant that you should NOT have their bags dry cleaned. She recommended a warm (woolen) type was, short spin cycle and dry them on a flat surface. Under no circumstances should they be put in a tumble drier.
  7. "Ditto" you beat me to it Rob. I have a sack but would NEVER use it just to get a day-light photo. The only reason I carry one (as yet never used) would be to have a BIG fish witnessed or to retain a fish that was damaged or carrying disease whilst I called and waited for bailifs or EA to arrive. Sacks do have their uses but must be regulary checked both before and during use and if it's only a photo that's required then most captures can be left in the water and retained in the landing net for a couple of minutes if absolutely necessary. If you organise y'self properly EVERYTHING will be ready and waiting, camera set up and focussed, mat & weigh sling wet and soaked in water, scales zero'd. Having everything t'hand quickens the whole "Egotistic" process we all suffer from and lessens and undue suffering being bestowed on our quarry. Be sorted !!!!!! "Ditto" you beat me to it Rob. 8. I spoke to guy @ JRC and apparently bag can go in washing machine but only on a 30 degree wash cycle. Think I'm going to send it to a professional dry cleaner though. I've been quoted £15-20 to have it professionally cleaned and they will be insured if anything goes wrong. don't think it'll fit im my machine at home anyway.
  9. ........ maybe I'm being a thicko but how do I clean my bag, there's no label on it other than one saying follow manufactures care instructions (which I never received !!!). Can I simply stuff it in the washing machine (if it'll fit !!!!) or do I need to send it away to a specialist dry cleaner????

Heard my first of 2007last Sunday morning (15th) - Beat Ya !!!!
  11. Great reels, I'm using Aero 6010 GT's wouldn't change them for the world !!!!!!
  12. Engage free-spool (baitrunner is copyrighted to Shimano) and set y'bobbins, then turn reel handle slowly until it meets resistance the internal mechanism will already be positioned at the precise where it dis-engages free-spool so rather than a complete turn of the hancle (you've already done that !!!!) it's a very quick and simply"click" as you push handle a few millimeters forwards with y'left thumb as you grab rod handle and arc into the srike with your right hand/arm. Make sense ???????
  13. No worries mate, quite frankly they're worth more than that to me as back-ups to my new set anyway. Any less and it aint worth me letting them go.
  14. Just ordered myself a set og the new TFG F8 remote which I'm assured will be with me within a week. If they are OK I will keep them and therefore be looking to sell my two Fox Micron ES alarms (only 18 months old), both have protective hard case and I think I still have the original boxes. How's £50 + £5 carriage (next day courier) sound? PM me if interested. Cheers - Phil
  15. SOLD SATURDAY. Colin Brett - You have a PM !!!!!!!! Cheers - Phil
  16. Hi, This is the all singing all dancing jobbie (NOT the rod or wrsit mounted ones !!!!). It comes with original box and TWO tugboats. Batteries not included. Only used ONCE for an hour in France last March and packed back in box ever since. This is a real bargain for someone @ only £85 + £5 carriage (next day courier). Please send PM if interested. Cheers - Phil
  17. Most of my fishing done at 45-50 yards max !!!!! The braid I'm using is supposedly (according to Fox) designed for marker float work. I need to think this through and use sime initiative I think. Sure it's something very simple that needs tweaking.
  18. Nope!!! check at weekend and ring looks intact.........
  19. Hi all, doing all the right things (I hope) and thought set up was right but been having problems with float not rising. Originally assumed it was weeded but now think it could've been the braid twisting round the swivel and holding the float down. I use floating braid (fox) straight through to the float swivel and a large diameter nylon ring attached to the lead which should allow easy & smooth flow of braid as float rises through the water . The float I use is the large (very) orange MCF one which is extremely bouyant. I've tried various styles of lead from 2 to 5oz. Sometimes the float will rise, sometimes not, which is why I've been blaming the weed but now I think about it , braid is prone to twist and on more than one occasion I've wound in to find my float "locked" in situ by the twisted braid. Could it be that I need to incorporate a mono leader, silmilar to or the same as the shock leader I use with my spod rod set up to stop this happening????? I figured mono would not twist up and as shock leaders are quite heavy would be stiff enough to remain straight and allow float to pass allong it. Any thoughts guys?????
  20. found a review on these which said ok as a backup set but pronreto line-trap on striking, also not tatally waterproof and should not be allowed to get a drenching !!!!! Think I'll wait til I can afford a more reliable (Delkim or Fox) set cos reliability of function is paramount, especially for a decent nights kip!!!!!!!
  21. Yeah, seen their ad and VERY tempted, looks like just what I'm after but alway a tad nervouse about buying cheaper toys!!!!. Has anyone got/used these alarms and remote. Checked web sites but info is a bit sketchty so would appreciate first hand info from someone who has used them. Anyone know what the max range of the romote is?
  22. Could've sworn I had the millenium ones (never come out of the case !!!!!!!) but mine are the ones with the "obvious" buttom on the front. Will contact RH, thanks for y'help Rob
  23. like yours Kestrel, my scales don't get a lot of use !!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for help Rob, hopefully someone in shop will know.
  24. Might be being a noddy here but I bought a set of these a while back, they are the ones with a backlight. Backlight no longer works, I know not why, but assume I've left it turned on and batteries have gone flat. Do these have batteries??? cos if so I cannot find where they are to replace them. Long since lost the instruction booklet so need help guys. Cheers - Phil
