  1. Velcro strip in various widths can be purchased in most haberdashery outlets. It connects at both ends !!
  2. Still drop in on a daily basis because sometimes something amusing or informative pops up. My ancient bones won't let me get onto the bank unless I have fit company (Grandson home from Uni is useful). All of my local angling mates have now crossed the bar,and this site does offer a pastime for a few minutes a day. Don't think a Fish-In is within my reach.I enjoyed the Itchen a few years back but that probably wouldn't work for me any more.
  3. Thank you very much Ken L
  4. Hi Everybody, can anyone shed some light on the missing "Musketeers" programme last Saturday evening?
  5. That was very well spotted...........
  6. Thank you very much for that Post Newt. Well worth watching.
  7. A small packet of "Wet-Wipes" may ease the problem while you are on the bank.
  8. I have found that CragHoppers solve the issues that you are experiencing. The light weight "Solardry" are less expensive than the fancy ones that pull apart to make shorts.
  9. Hello John, I don't often bother the keyboard but I feel that I have to say Many Happy returns of your very good birthday. :clap3:

  11. Why not try Korums own KXi Freespin reel? RRP is a penny less than your budget, but at least one dealer does it for £5 less. I have one paired with a Grey Specialist Feeder and I can't fault it.
  12. I really enjoyed that refresher. Thanks JV

  14. On arrival on Monday forenoon do we have to check in with anyone,or do we drive straight upstream to find a swim?
  15. Many Happy Returns of the day Newt
  16. Hello David, Sorry to be slow in reply. Seasonal activities have disrupted my daily routine. Hereford DAA do control the stretches of the river both up and downstream of the road bridge, and day tickets are available from both of the local tackle dealers,I don't know anything about Sues Tackle, but I do know that Woody is a mine of information. In this weeks Angling Times he has a mention regarding a giant pike allegedly spotted in the Belmont section----that is upstream of the road bridge. Upstream of the road bridge is also where the big weights of chub and roach have been landed this season------downstream tends to be a lot more barbel territory. Hope that helps a bit more -----when are you planning your trip? Regards, Brian
  17. Hi Dave, If you are going to be close to Hereford you can't really go wrong anywhere within walking distance of the main road bridge. Downstream on the tennis courts side is fairly comfortable bankside, and the Parking is at reasonable range. Feel free to come back if you want any more on those areas; I am fairly rusty where more distant swims are relevant. (Octogenarians don't amble too far!) Regards, Brian.
  18. Hi KayC, I am not getting much success with PMs to you.The name that you quote is not my cheque.Mine was posted on the 17th (18th) and should reach you before the holiday shut down. All the best, Brian.
  19. Please put my name down for a week day visit,if it's going to happen.
  20. Hi Offitmassive, I Googled Asda and Sues after I made my Post (should have done it first !). Of course I know where Asda is (now that I've looked).Trouble is---when you are fighting for position and survival on that wretched round-a-bout you don't notice anything other than the traffic. My approach is from Ross. Thanks for putting me right anyway. The beach section that is along the Poplars stretch is a long way down from Vicky bridge, and on the other side of the river to the shingle beach that I used to play on many years ago..The beach section (and the six or seven poplar trees) is almost opposite the road from Hinton Court that comes down to the river from Hinton Road.Used to be Mathews Farm, but I think some big Dairy concern owns the land now. I do know the bit below Victoria Bridge that you recommended---- I had eight Barbel from there during the last week of the 08/09 season. Al the best, Brian.
  21. You may know it as the Eign stretch. It is upstream from the Sewage Works, and quite a long walk from Eign railway bridge. The flats are on the far bank, well down from Hinton Court, and the Poplars are slightly further upstream where a beach section is exposed when the water is a summer level.Depending how old you are you may remember the area as Bartonsham Bathing Station, but that was a long time back I haven't found Asda or Sues tackle shop - - - - can you give a location please? I shall be visiting again in late September.
  22. Hello Snowy, Have a look at Petworth & Bognor Angling Club web site.Click on the Match Results to view recent weights of 31lb11oz and 11lb 14oz,which can't be too bad for a shallow canal. Hope that's encouraging, Regards, Brian.
