  1. The Tackle Box Brighton Marina Village, Brighton - 01273 696477 or about 5 minutes up the road (well make it 10 minutes!) Peacehaven Angler 135 South Coast Rd, Peacehaven, East Sussex, BN10 8PA‎ - 01273 586000‎
  2. thankyou for all your advice. (now to learn how to spin and sea fish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
  3. well to narrow it down alot. i should be off to orkney. no clue on what there is to catch up there as i've never been before.
  4. hi there i have a shimano exage stc 2.10/2.40 spinning rod and a shimano exage 2500 fb reel. i am looking to do some spinning in february while on holiday in scotland and wondered what line people who recommend that i use on the reel. also if you have any advice on what spinners you would recommend it would be most welcome mark
  5. i changed from a box to a chair (before the korum ones arrived that you can put attachments on) but i have moved back to a box. the reasons i went back was that i found it impossible to pole fish with any more than a top kit. secondly my holdall had to suddenly hold everything reels, etc and i had to get myself boxes to hold floats, weights, hooks, etc.
  6. chris if you are talking about the tacklemania shows the used tackle aren't there. from what was printed in angling times they appear to be asked not to attend as the other dealers couldn't make money!! they have setup their own breakout tour but as of yet only has 1 or 2 dates. Mark
  7. sorry slight mistype on the company name but it is dragon carp direct / used tackle which were asked not to attend from what is printed in last weeks angling times.sorry to disappoint you. there were buckets of pellets for sale but no hemp. can't say that i saw many bungs but there was a fair bit of elastic however most of it was rated 10 or less it's up to you if you do the detour but if it were me i wouldn't bother.
  8. i was thinking the same thing ferg. go for the maver ones. they are designed for your pole. plus you won't get the same finish or the fusion top kit nor the magic steps. so will be different balance, different feel to the pole surface and possible a droopier pole
  9. hi bob. have you prepaid for your tickets? well if you have you are in for a shock with your free gift if it was like the one i got when i went to tacklemania a couple of weeks ago. it was a controller float and a bit of rig tubing!! well worth it for the pole angler!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as to what to expect think hall with about 10 different tackle shops with a market stall. the one you'll notice most will be brundall angling centre (bloke running it is abit loud) though don't think he liked the fact we were not impressed with the milo box he had there on offer (clips would break after a season or less in mine and my cousins opinion). he asked us what boxes we had if we didn't like the £399 milo he had complete with show deal of a free wheel kit and when we both told him we had a rive all he said was they are very nice boxes and did not try to actually sell us anything after that. (even when we were looking at his pole selection). we did have a little waggle of the maver n57 which he had on offer at £2400!!! how many people are going to have that sort of cash on them or even looking to spend that at these kind of shows. there is alot of unbranded items there and a one stall had landing nets with out any fish safe logos on them!! if you are looking for some new luggage you won't fall short on finding some. there is plenty to be had and i was surprised at the quality of it. on a previous visit to a tacklemania last year in gravesend it was all cheap tat but this year in my local one you had daiwa, preston and sensas stuff. (the sensas rod holdalls are very good for the money and i'd recommend them to anyone, they even had the matching carryall for it there). bargin wise my cousin and i got a great deal on the Preston Innovation Carbon Active Sentient 13' Power Float. most online retails are offering them from £180 to £205 each. we got a pair for £245. bet his bosses cried when he told them. if you are going to the show for anything specific don't get your hopes too high. and if you are going for a mooch you may spot something you want to buy. was there anything specific that yu wanted from the show? one notable absence from tacklemania this year was used carp direct and their auction type atmosphere stall. ( i have seen that they were asked not to attend this year. so they have done so but have put together their own show with vale royal angling) i don't know what the talk is like as they happen on the saturday and i went on the sunday. hope this helps. any other questions just ask. mark adding to what you say about price i forgot to say that. if you are after a specific rod/pole/box make sure you check the internet retailers first. some of the show deal prices are the same as if you bought it from their website and some are higher than other websites.
  10. wait till fi-o-mania has finished and then there may be more posters!!! but anyway if you post your rough location on here you may find someone local who will be willing to show you the ropes. mark
  11. any clues to the location of said pond? maybe it was fed up in the heat and jumped in
  12. So who's taken it up to £5300 then?
  13. I was looking on e**y and found someone selling 3 * maver 2.5lb test carp rods. I'll return to the coarse fishing pages now!!!
