  1. Hi there I live in central Scotland and flyfish most of the country. PM me with the details of where you are staying and what sort of fishing you want to do and I can give you some info. is it lochs (lakes) or Rivers you fancy? Trout / Salmon / Sea Trout / Rainbow Trout? There are certainly plenty of options
  2. yes thanks for the very detailed report - this has given me much fishfood for thought....! I know what gear to take and will be fishing in PDC Just before Christmas... cant wait

I am visiting Porto Del Carmen later this year and will be keen to pack a rod or two for a spot of shore fishing. Any tips or advice would be great Best locations Best approach Tackle to use Species I can target I guess I will be doing a lot of my fishing around the old harbour area. cheers for any help!!!
  5. Looking for some help Trout Fisherman ran an article about Rutland in an issue towards the tail end of last year - unfortunately I have binned my copy. I am now due to fish Rutland for the first time in September this year and would like to read the article again. Does anyone have this issue that they could sent me the pages / scan them and email on? Any other written articles would be useful too! cheers
  6. Hi thanks for the advice.... Rudder fishing indeed! - must give it a try though!!! It would be great if I could get hold of a copy of that map at A1 it must be huge. I know I could copy it at work - if worst comes to worst, you could maybe send me it recorded delivery and I could copy and return - I would pay all the costs of course. Thanks again at this stage though
  7. If your 9 weight lines are Weight Forward, I would suggest that they may load your rod fine. I would give them a trial before making any new purchase
  8. Hi there I fish the scottish Lochs regularly at this time of year but have not fished Voil. It's difficult to say what flies or Lines will be best as the weather is still very changeable - I experienced fish taking flies off the top in a southerly wind 2 weeks ago, and 20 minutes later the wind had swung to the north and it was snowing! the fish were gone... flies really depend on which flylines you are going to fish - Lines I would recommend would be a Floater, A clear intermediate and possibly a sinker like a wet cel 2 if you are fishing from a boat. Again it also depends on what you are fishing for - I presume it's trout, although Voil has a lot of Salmon and the odd Char. For Trout Flies, I would not go without Bibio's Kate McLaren's and a Peter Ross You may also need something with a bit of weight if its cold. - Suggest black and Green Hope this helps! Good Luck!
  9. Hi Looking for some help. I'm Based in Scotland but making my first trip with a few Friends to Rutland in September this year. We have 3 days fishing planned. None of us have fished the water before - looking for some guidance on the top marks traditionally at this time of year and what methods work best. I am really keen to get hold of a map that shows the depths and contours of the water - does anyone have such a thing or can you dierct me to where I can get hold of one? Any help appreciated! Cheers

  12. HI THERE PER PREVIOUS THREADS I AM TRAVELLING TO MENORCA IN MAY AND HEAR THAT BASS MAY BE AN OPTION TO TARGET. I HAVE NEVER TARGETTED NOR CAUGHT BASS BEFORE - THE CLOSEST I HAVE BEEN IS WATCHING THAT LONG HAIRED FOP ON DISCOVERY HOME AND LEISURE CATCHING SOME ON THE SOUTH COAST OF ENGLAND I THINK. ANYWAY - I NEED SOME TIPS.... I WILL FISHING FROM THE SHORE - BAYS AND OFF THE ROCKS, USING A 12 FOOT CARP ROD. I WILL HAVE A BAITRUNNER SPONNING REEL AND A CASTING MULTIPLIER WITH ME. EXPECT TO BE USING 10LB LINE. I HAVE A SELECTION OF DIVING LURES AND POPPERS ETC IN THE 8 CM TO 15CM RANGE. FIRSTLY IS THIS THE RIGHT SORT OF KIT? SECONDLY, WHAT SORT OF RETRIEVE PROVES SUCCESSFUL FOR BASS THIRDLY, ARE THERE ANY SIGNS I SHOULD BE LOOKING FOR? FOURTHLY - ANYONE HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE TO SHARE FROM THE MED. ANY HELP APPRECIATED.....

  15. phil - you sound like you could give me a lot of further help here - the resopnses so far have been excellent. I am staying in Cala,n Bosch andI have heard that the rocky area along towards the lighthouse provides the deeper water that I am looking for. I am really interested in other "larger" species that I could target. Thanks everyone for guidance - keep it coming!
  16. Hi there Need some help and advice I am off to Menorca in May and have heard that I have the option to fish off some nearby rocks into reasonably deep water. I am keen to hook up with a Cuda when I am there and understand that they are in the area. I mainly fly fish but will not be taking this kit with me. Anyone with any knowledge of other species in the area would also be welcome - i know there are a lot of mullet /bream etc. I need advice on methods to best get a hook up - I am probably going to take a 3lb test carp rod with me but in relation to the rest / tactics / I am unsure. Would poppers work on teh surface - how about deadbait under a float? any help / experiences welcome. Thanks in advance
