  1. 2009/10 season my bogey species has been Fish
  2. I see they are still selling the tackle kit including a pike gag
  3. If they want to show you their licence then fairplay to them but you have no legal right to ask to view it , I bailiff for a big club and one of the membership rules is that all members must be in possession of EA licence(s) for the number of rods they are using but that doesn't give me the right to ask to see them
  4. Police Act 1964 · Police (Scotland) Act 1967 · Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 · Police Act 1996 · Police Reform Act 2002 · Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005 · Law · Courts · Prisons old info i'm afraid only EA bailliffs or plod can ask to see your licence now , you dont even have to show it to a club bailliff if you dont want to
  5. wow thanks Steve will be in touch
  6. thanks Steve and Elton
  7. Hi all Dave Padgham, the much loved bailiff of Conningbrook, sadly died recently and just before he passed away he had an idea to start up a library of fishing books so that young anglers in particular could get access to them. After his sad loss , his son Elliot has taken it upon himself to see his dads idea come to fruition and has arranged with Chris Logsdon of Mid Kent Fisheries to host the library within their head office building at Chilham Mill. the books will be available to withdraw,as with any normal library but a small 'rental' fee will be administered per week and also a huge late return penalty fee. unfortunately at the moment the library will only be available to members of MKF due to keeping track of the books and issues with data protection with peoples names, addresses etc but all monies collected will benefit Elliot's chosen charity which I believe will be for melanoma research, as it was the terrible disease that took the life of his dad. We are not looking for expensive 1st editions or rare articals (although they have been offered ) but just general fishing related books that might be gathering dust that they wouldn't mind donating to this great cause please send any books to: The Dave Padgham Library C/O Mid Kent Fisheries water mill lane Chilham, Kent CT4 8EE see here for some more info thanks Kev
  8. the orange and grey ones with the angled handle (not sure of the model number) I think they weigh up to 36 lb's
  9. i used to have a set of Weighmasters and they were very nice . compact and lightweight only problem was I lost them on the bank !st day i took them out ( they fell out of the pocket on tyhe back of my waistcoat ) so i cant comment on how well they weigh things . I also own a set of fox digitals and think they are brilliant and have just purchased some of the Berkeley digi's and they are ideal for travelling light. i regularly check all my scales (2 dials and 2 digi's) against each other and they are all spot on with each other.
  10. hi Sir F, the River Len doesn't go anywhere near Snodland . It runs from Lenham through Bearsted, Mote park under the Chequers centre in Maidstone and then empties into the Medway opposite the court houses. You used to be able to fish a cracking little stretch at the top end of Mote park and at the right time of year it used to be full of big roach that came up from the lake but its all been fenced off now . There is another section by the Turkey mill office complex in bearsted but i'm not sure about public access cheers kev
  11. i found these little corkers in the normal fishing section of my local tackle shop, well away from the over priced and over hyped carp and barbel hooks. although they look very shiny in this pic the ones i got had a black finish . size 8 - 14 . i've been using them a lot lately and i am very impressed by them they are extremely strong as i found out when i stalked this 24lb common out on a size 10 to hook and hold tactics but the best thing about this range is the price , I paid 99p per pack of ten . but with the recent price hikes expect to pay about £1.25 still only a third of the price of the popular brands
  12. hmmmm a subject very close to my heart (or should that be waist ) i used to live on not poodles and custard creams when session fishing and like mentioned before would return home feeling like cr*p but i have since moved on to proper bankside meals and now preparing the menu is as integral a part of the trip as preparing the bait! i have just returned from 48hrs fishing the MKF members carp match and my fishing partner and I had fry up both mornings and pasta bolognaise and chicken tikka masala for our evening meals. i kind of cheat a bit by preparing the main meals before i leave storing them in the cool box in suitably sized tupperware containers and then i use a lightweight set of camping pans to heat them through. if i'm going alone i take a small single burner gas stove that folds up but for longer trips or if i'm having guests round for dinner i use the sunn gas double burner slightly bulky but an excellent piece of kit. for curries with rice buy the microwave ready rice (pre cooked) and simply stir it in to the meat/sauce and heat through. for bolognaises use pasta shapes rather than spaghetti . its easier to eat and seems to hold its temperature longer when its on the plates. yes it means taking a bit more stuff/weight but the benefits a more than worth it
  13. hi emma , lakeland are the guys that i brought my mariner 4 stroke from , i know it wasn't electric but i received excellent comms and customer service
  14. hi Don , hope you get some fishing in during your visit . a few years back i posed the same questions to S.O.L surftalk forum as i was taking a holiday to New York . lots of really friendly advice came my way (unfortunately i was due there about 3 weeks before the stripers would be but i had complete strangers giving me there cell phone numbers and offering me days out in their boats . ( don't you just love being a member of the brotherhood of anglers). unfortunately she whom must be obeyed decided that fishing had no available time slot in our busy itinerary of shopping, shopping and more shopping (i did manage to visit a tackle shop though ) anyway i just did a quick google of "day ticket fishing heathrow" and lots of results came up . unfortunately i can never seem to get links to work on here (maybe someone else can do it for you ) cheers kev
