  1. --> QUOTE(Norm B @ Jan 3 2007, 05:12 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Try not to spray WD 40 on your line or into the reel, it's bad news. really? i found that it keeps it from rusting and going manky. I avoid getting it on the line, but i put it into the moving parts of the reel, and so far it doing well. If it not a good idea, what should i do to keep it moving and smooth? YoungRod
  2. Just went and had a wipe, it was really salty and dirty, proberly from the weed i caught today! There was a faint scuff on the end ring, but not major. Thanks for the advice, YougRod
  3. Hi all, Of course, after fishing i come back and rinse my reel off in cool, fresh water and lightly spray it with lubricant, i tidy my bag up and check for damage, but what other precautions, or tips would you give me to keep my kit clean and functional? I havn't had too many problems with my gear, but every-so-often my line breaks or a hooks snaps, and i put it down to being well used and strained. I just want to make sure i don't make any mistakes, and ruin my trips, because of dirty gear. All tips would be welcome, Thanks YoungRod
  4. WOW! Thanks all, i didn't know it would be such a popular thread! I will keep me eyes peeled for all your suggestions. Keep 'em coming, YoungRod

  15. apparently, mines and bombs and such have been found in the thames quite regulary. though i have never seen one, most people say that wreckage from ships and planes still have explosives (live and ready) still inside!
  16. Hi Being young, quite new to fishing, and depressingly unsuccesful, i was wondering if anyone on here can help me out. can anyone share with me some fishing tips, mostly bass fishing (but other stuff is fine too), so that i can enjoy catching something. I regulary fish in the Essex area (near Southend) and barly catch a thing! It's slightly upsetting, listening (or reading) to everyone discuss their catches, and me with nothing but a cold! Thanks YR
  17. I'm from Canvey, essex (look for Southend on the map, Canvey's so small they don't even bother putting us on!) If you fancy loosing loads of gear, and catching nothing (or a very very small bass) come to this great hoilday resort.

Sounds like you where talking about canvey there!
  19. Hi again. got back from our second trip, windswept and chilly, and fish-less. What more should i say?
  20. Yeah, around my area, you must speak to loudly about good spots (not that there are many on canvey) or the trawlers will come along. quite anoying, actually. Y.R
  21. Trip 1 of 2 Well, what can i say. Nothing. Zilch. Zero. not even a cold! The weather was nice, untill it hailstoned and rained on us. Thankfully, i brought a boil in a bag along with us, and we cooked it on the sea wall. i think the Chilli Con Carne saved us from total de-moralistion (that stuff works wonders). Though the we caught nothing, we enjoyed every minute of it - Well, once we warmed up and it stopped raining. Tune in tomorrow as for a report of Trip 2 of 3. Better luck next time, i hope.... Y.R
  22. Hi I was wondering, are there any competions held on this forum? I mean, on the kayak bit, they have comps, and i was thinking whether there are any held on this bit. There dosn't seem to be any held in my area, i've asked the tackle shop and everthing! Y.R p.s: Is anyone near Canvey/ Southend area?
  23. Schools out for the week , so me and my mate are going to get as much fishing in a possible. the only thing between me and my rod is a pile of homework. grumble ! Good luck to everyone who is fishing Y.R
  24. Well, i tink that if the Polar ice caps are melting, and the weather gets warmer, would they both cancel each other out? The hotter the weather, the more water is evaporated, so ther sea levals amy only slightly rise. OR: it may hopefully change the currents, and wash more fish in my direction... (then i might stand a chance of catching something!)
  25. Thanks everyone! Does anyone fish the Thames, near Canvey?
