  1. I still fish the Weser now and then. A brilliant river but not so many fish as back in the day. I was in the UK back in March at the Big One show, selling DVDs from the world championships. Got talking to some chap about the weser, and how he used to fish it a lot. He could even speak abit of German. Was,t one of you lot was it? Jayson

  8. where to fish in SE london or anywhere nearby: Been living in Germany since 20 Years, and am visiting my relatives in May 2010. looking at fishing a few venues near by and am looking for advice: As a boy, I learned my fishing on Dartford lakes and Horten kirby My normal fishing is natural waters, Lakes canals, and rivers. Pole to 13 m, Float rod, feeder rods, Bolo rods whips to 9 meters. If anyone is interested in showing me a venue or two, I would´nt be shy in supplying bait and a pint after! Would even consider a day on a commercial, something that we don´t have in Germany! PM or email to: Jayson69@gmx.net Thanks Jayson www.champions-team.de
  9. Hi Budgie, The chap that showed us how to "Ice fish" introduced them to us, he is Russian, and in russia they catch on blank jigs, we had maggot on ours or pinkies. First we let them down to the the ground, and the reel won´t be touched again. Then it´s a case of lifting and dropping quite slowly. or leaving the rod rested against a pile of ice, and the jig dangling about 5 cm over ground. To try another hole, you just pull up the line, and let it down, without reeling up the line, here you´ll see if the depth changes, or try and find any features that the fish are held up in. Sadly we had no luck on Sunday, the last time we tried it (about 4 years ago) on the same lake, we caught a few Roach using the same tactics. If the cold weather keeps up, we´ll be giving it another bash this weekend.......
  10. temp. -7 C ice 18cm thick I´m in Hannover Germany, there was 3 of us, and unfortunatly not a fish was caught (we were hoping for roach). using Mormyska´s and home made rods! more Photo´s:
  11. I braved it today, but did´nt do well at all!
  12. Thanks very very much Steve! spot on, that´ll be just perfect, and you´ve educated a fellow angler! and hopefully made a lot of fish Happy :-) Again thanks a lot! Jayson P.S could you maybe supply the standard value of a Bream?
  13. Hi all Hope for some advice and information. I´m going to organise a Barbel match on a river here in Germany. Unfortuntly Keepnets are not allowed, and the tradition here is to knock the little fella´s on the head. A situation that I´m hoping to change on our club water. What I´m planning is, to make a chart that lists the average size and weight of a Barbel. When an angler catches a Barbel, he will have to call his neighbour over, measure the fish and record it on his card (the neighbour will be holding his card) before releasing the fish back to the River. Obtaining enough Scales will be a problem, so I will reward weights accordinly with the size of the fish. below is my cm - Kg table. I ask, are the sizes and weights relistic? has anyone better information maybe? I´ll welcome any more idea´s that you chaps may have!!! 55cm 1.70 Kg 56cm 1.75 Kg 57cm 1.80 Kg in fact, no need to list them all here, as each cm receives 5 grams etc etc. so that: 65cm -- 2,25 Kg 70cm -- 2,50 Kg are these relistic "average" sizes and weights of Barbel? Thanks Jayson
  14. What distances are you really looking at Rob? I picked up 2 Rods from the firm Sänger, The "Catapult feeder" 4.55m Long. I think they sell in the UK under Shakespeare. well mine cost me 100 € each (Euros) you can cast to 80 meters very comfortably, have had 104 meters giving it wellie! (and 10 000 reels) although i did break a tip :-(
