  6. Hi David, I'm with Alan on this one, i think he has it right. Just pop into your nearest Post Office , one that does the Road Tax Disc's and show them your form, they will soon tell you what's what, as i have often heard the assistants refusing Tax Disc's quoting rules and regs with relish and customers getting very  Don't go on pension day though Richard.
  7. Thanks Gray, my mates got XP ,and i passed on your Advice . Richard.
  8. I got my first digi cam about 6 months back. A cheap and cheerfull one £80 ! It takes 128 photos and has a flash too. It also doubles as a web cam. I snap away at anything that moves then save or delete when back at home.I snap birds ,scenery, wildlife and friends fishing etc. I'm happy with basic photos that remind me of days out etc and take loads more pictures than i ever would on film.I also carry a little Canon 35mm auto focus incase a special snap is required.I will stick with it for now until the prices of better digi cams comes down a bit more. If the attachment on this post works , it will be with thanks to Gray for his help. It's my new P.B. Chub from Monday at 4lb8oz.I know i cut my head off using it on timer on a box, but i was by myself and wanted to get it back in the water . Richard. [ 21. 9. Not much of a float fisherman either , i think i would put all the weight at the bottom near the hook and have the line free running though the bottom eye of the float and a stop knot on your line 15-20 foot upfrom hook. I would then fish it lift type of style,If it's a river it may be hard to use this method , then you maybe able to 'Lay on' , but i don't know if that would work with a free sliding float and stop knot  I'm as interested as you to hear other ideas,Richard. 10. OK, so you got the kazaa type thing on your P.C. Am i correct in saying you need another program to play MP3's back? I've got mucismatch jukebox and i have also heard on Winamp on similar? But what is this program called ,is it a music player ,What's the proper discription for it please ,i'm tring to explain to some one what they need, can the 'players' by downloaded free? i don't know where mine came from, either my kids installed it or it came loaded from new? Thanks, Richard. I'm trying my best to catch up with PC lingo! P.S. What is 'Newsgroups'? [ 21. August 2002, 01:53 AM: Message edited by: Richard Harvey ]
  11. I know the ones you mean, i was given two to try out but have never tryed them yet. Are they the ones that look like a rubber muppet/squid with a jighead with a long flat profile and the hook sit upwards so less likely to snag. The muppet slips over the jighead with the tassely skirt bits facing up the line so it looks back to front. I think the idea is to let the lure'jig sink to the bottom ,tighten up your line then lift it up 1-3 feet then give it slack line, it is then supposed to glide backwards away from you (swimming away ) and so on. It does it on the TV add , but most U.K. lure anglers use wire traces which may unbalance the whole setup? Many American lures become unbalanced (= floating plugs sink etc )when the slight extra weight of a trace is added. I have seen them on Cable TV for years too, i'm sure if they were that fantastic the shops would be full of them by now. I will have to try the ones i have got if they haven't melted into a sticky blob yet , not sure where they are ,i'll have to 'Fish them out!' Also another lure they show is the 'Banjo Minnow'this is a rubber shad/grub that has the hook tied to the end of your line/trace then the rubber shad/grub is attached to the bend of the hook by a tiny wire 'corkscrew'fixing so it can move around very freely and life like. They haven't caught on here yet either. I'm sure lead when it's part of a jighead is legal in UK, but in USA in some states the lead contents and even PVC contents of pack must be shown in a warning on product. Hope that helps a bit.I'm sure there must be somehere who's used them and will post there verdict. Richard. [ 21. August 2002, 12:43 AM: Message edited by: Richard Harvey ]
  12. Happy Birthday Gray, and thanks for all the help you have given me and others on A.N. with avatars etc etc
  13. Hi PH, Ireland is the place for the good tasting Guinness these days. I used to drink it years back but went off it,probably for same reasons as you. Then i had a chance of some fishing in Ireland the other year and friends had said how good the Guinness was over there and when we got there they were right. I drunk it all week . I was talking to one landlord and he said Barmen in Ireland have to train for 3-4 years before they are seen fit to be let loose on Guinness ,i think he was winding me up but anyway maybe it is down to care of Storing the barrels, temp etc or maybe it's the different water source at their brewery, or perhaps they are keeping the original recipe for them selves After the weeks fishing when i was back here in England i had the taste for it again, so i popped in my local and i could only drink 1/4 of the pint ,a week later at another pub i tryed again and  same thing. So now i wait for my next trip over there to Ireland=good fishing and good Guinness .Also it was alot cheaper to buy it there,( Pre Euro!) [ 19. 14. Hi Polly, Could i ask if you went to the 'Jay's Pike Monster Lake' and if you did how did it go . I could phone the lake but lakes always seem to say 'It's doing well right now!' Anyone else been there lately? You can e-mail me if you don't want to post details on here. I may like to do some spinning there soon. Thanks, Richard.

  16. Hi Jimbo , could you narrow it down a bit to which countries and areas they may pass through. Will they be wanting to fish for Trout Pike Salmon Coarse fish ,on Fly , spinning or bait? This may help you get some answers .
  17. Hi Smegger, those links aren't working at the moment, could you check them please or it may just be somethings down at the moment? Also did you realise you had pinched Colin Bretts Avatar photo ,if you right click on it and look at 'properties'you will see colins name in it.Most peoples avatar pic's were made up for them personally by Gray Cathpole on the 'Avatars' thread on coarse fishing forum,e-mail him a picture or photo you like then you can be original and unique too or maybe you knew this already  Colin might be after you with words like 'Girls,Drink and Fe*k !'
  18. I'm driving my car today ,nice hot sunny day, air-con on full blast, shades on  I was overtaken by at least two convertables with their tops down, a Escort and a Audi i think? That must be nice i thought , wind in your hair , open to the world , great. Then a bit further on at a round-about i noticed another open top waiting to pull out. It was a Smart Car, less it's roof! I didn't have long to look at it but i rubber necked a bit and noticed the driver was wearing a Fullface crash helmet? Why? OK, Safety ,maybe , but don't all new soft tops have to have rollbar or reinforced window frame? Maybe this car had no front windshield and the driver didn't want bugs and grit in his face. But doesn't that take away all that open top car driving is about or maybe the driver just wanted to stay anonymous in case his mates clocked him Whats going on  has anyone else seen these half-a-Smart cars and is it law or personel choice if you wear a skid lid?
  19. Wow, Thats a great site link Danny. I will use that a lot and it's already gone on my favorites list. Let me say thanks Danny, even though it's not my thread . Richard.
  20. Yep Gray, I think thats the way i would like to go too ! LOL
  21. I enjoyed the first two Austin Powers Movie's which we watched on video at home.So now the 3rd film is out the Cinema. Well the wife and I haven't laughed so much for a long time, so many funny bits in it ,including a Scottish Sumo Wrestler, the bit where Austin Powers gets dragged in for a Navel Medical Examination, etc etc. I think you either love or hate Austin Powers, if you liked 1 and 2 then we thought #3 was much funnier and best yet! Anyone else with a warped sence of humour seen #3 yet ? Groovey Baby
  22. Hi Newt, I think Hoppy4 is going to upset some of his buddy's back home in the states with the size of that Catfish ! You don't grow them that that big back home i believe? What is the biggest growing Catfish in the states, is it the Channel Catfish or Flathead?, i have seen photo's of a 30 pound Flathead from a USA river. Hoppy4 looks pleased, i know i would be Richard.
  23. Opps !, I don't mean that a real Priest would wack you on the head
  24. Probably because you administer the 'Last Right's' to the fish with it, just like a Real Live Priest may do before a person dies.
