  1. Henda I would go for it and it is a magical place especially since the 10mph water law has cut out the jet ski's, water ski's and the like, although I can echo some of the points made there are a few bank fishing spots BUT as there are a few they get crammed and if I was you I would look at fishing Windermere by boat and yes if you have the money a guide. As for topo maps PM me and I will give you a number for a book that has Widermere and all the other waters with good detail of depth contours, there is also another book with all the depths for the smaller lakes and tarns and the cost is only a few pounds but worth every penny. Neil's link to WADAA is a good start to plenty of information on there but it really is a case of putting the hours in and dont expect too much too soon it took me a lot of blank days to find some worthy spots both from bank and boat, if your looking at fishing Windermere or Coniston the Environment Agency is running a Pike and Trout Log book scheme its free they send you out a canvas pack with Log books, so you can log weight, length, method caught, time and date etc, its a good way to monitor the head of pike in these lakes and if anyone is interested and fishes these give them a call, Ben Bayliss or Debbie Davidson at the Penrith office of the Environment Agency on 01768 215757. If your intent on fishing the Lakes there are other places to fish that aren't as busy and IMHO better fishing than Windermere, again PM me and I will gladly give you some places worth trying best of luck, Regards Scott......
  2. Salt and Vinegar anyone will that be in newspaper large fork.......
  3. Hi DF I too fish from a Punt as well as a yak and I have a Hummingbird finder, you could buy another transducer and mounting bracket to fit your finder I paid about £50 for mine rung Johnson's got a quote and bought it were I got my finder, then you can fix one through the hull in the yak and have the spare to mount on your dinghy, but thats if you want to pay the extra, just an idea!
  4. In no particular order, The Good: Faithless.... One of the best live groups Ive seen, Paul Weller..... Got to be one of the best with an acoustic guitar IMO, Stereophonics.... Saw them off the back of Jeep, never been the same since Stuart Cable left, Killers..... Has to have been one of the best headline acts I have seen at Glastonbury (2005), Richard Ashcroft.... Excellent live seen him twice, The Doves...... Manchester Appollo, seen these a few times probably one of my favourite live acts, The Beautiful South...... Again at the Appollo just before they split, top class live, Primal Scream...... I saw these twice one was so so and the other was the dogs do da's, Kasabian...... Brilliant live band, Razorlight..... Ditto, Basement Jaxx.... Wasn't sure about these but what a performance, The Zuton's..... Very good, The Chemical brothers.... Brilliant and visual effects to match, Moby..... Excellent saw him around Play, Lady Smith Black Mambazo..... Saw these in the Isle of Man no instruments just 8 guys accapella, left smiling from ear to ear, Manu Chao..... Feel good vibe, Badly drawn Boy..... Another good acoustic act, The Bad: Only 2 Ian Brown.... Seen him 3 times every one crap, I love the Stone Roses but live Ian sucks, The Happymondays..... Well its my namesake but the years of constant drug taking has made Sean a wreck. Could list a lot more but I think I got carried away as it is.
  5. One day in the forest, 3 guys were just hiking along a trail when all of a sudden, a huge pack of Indians attacked them and knocked them out. When they woke up, they were at the leader of the tribe's throne. The chief then said "All of your lives may be spared if you can find ten of one fruit and bring them back to me." So after a while the first man returned with 10 apples. The chief then ordered him to stick all ten of them up his butt without making any expression at all on his face. He had a little bit of trouble with the first one and started crying while trying to put the next one in. He was soon killed. Later, the next guy came in with 10 grapes. The chief soon ordered him to do the same as the first guy. After to the 9th grape, the man started laughing so hard for no apparent reason, and was killed. The first two guys soon met in heaven and the first guy ask the second, "Why did you start laughing? You only needed one more grape and you'd have gotten away!" The second guy answered while still laughing, "I couldn't help it. I saw the third guy walking in with pineapples."
  6. Hi Highseas sorry for the delay, its Windermere and district anglers they cover most of the south lakes, I have just googled your mentions above are they all around eskdale, Scoat tarn looks a great spot have you fished these by the way. I have only ever fished the south lakes and only been as far as bassenthwaite but that was for pike, been up and around wasdale and eskdale but not fished around there.
  7. Hi Highseas Not fished those 2 but have fished a lot of the tarns and small reservoirs in the lake district and they have to be the most scenic places to fish to say the least. I always start off with nymphs unless there is fish rising, any of the usual suspects work for me Pheasant tail, GRHE, Damsel Nymphs, Bloodworm. Sorry couldn't give you any info on fishing them but be good to hear your report of these two when you fish them, have you fished any of WADAA's waters around the lakes? Good luck Scott....
  8. Scouser walks into job centre and tells the assistant "I'm hard working, honest and desperate for a job" The assistant replies "thats fortunate we have just got one in. We need a Chauffeur for a millionaire, which includes looking after his twin nympho daughters whilst on overseas trips, it comes with a salary of £200k a year" The scouser says "your bullsh*****g me..." The assistant replies "you f*****g started it"
  9. Man and woman are in a very dark wood making love, Man says "wish I had a torch" Woman says "so do I you've been licking the grass for the last ten minutes"
  10. An Englishman, a Scotsman and an Irishman are driving through the desert when their car breaks down. So they have to get out. The Englishman takes a bottle of wine with him, the Scotsman takes an umbrella and the Irishman takes a car door. On the way they meet this old nomad. He says to the Englishman "I know why you've got the wine so you can have a drink when your thirsty", He says to the Scotsman "I know why you've got the umbrella to keep the sun off you", "but" he says to the Irishman "Why have you got the car door?" and the Irishman replies "If I get hot I can wind the window down!"
  11. Are you for or against the eating of farmed carp?
  12. This recipe looks good Baked Carp I think its a good idea, alternative to other over fished species, Baramundi, Tilapia, Carp
  13. Cheers guys suppose that's made light work of that idea
  14. Hi just got this sent by email see what you think, This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy petrol on a certain day' campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read it and join in! Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP, we need to take an aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS, not sellers, control the market place. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocket by not purchasing their Petrol! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. Here's the idea: For the rest of this year DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two biggest oil companies (which now are one), ESSO and BP. If they are not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact we need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP petrol buyers. It's really simple to do!! Now, don't wimp out on me at this point... Keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!! I am sending this note to a lot of people. If each of you send I t to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... And those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... And so on, by the time the Message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have Been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it... .. THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!! Again, all You have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all. (and not buy at ESSO/BP) How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!! Acting together we can make a difference If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE 69p a LITRE RANGE It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and buy your petrol at Shell, Asda,Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons, Jet etc. I.e. Boycott BP and Esso.
  15. Thanks John and Darren for the replies, I think a trip to the shop's and have a look at some camera's would be a good start, Best Regards Scott...
