I don`t really want to spend out the money for a router because Windows is meant to be able to connect through another PC to access the net.

Hi Newt No its not possible to connect it thorugh an RJ=45 port as the modem is powered from the USB port and theres no other ports on the modem

Hi I`ve just set up a network of 2 computers using NIC cards and a crossover cable. I also have ADSL broadband internet access through Freeserve using an Alcatel speed touch USB modem. The problem i`m having is that i`m trying to get both computers to use the internet on the same connection. The PC which has the modem is set up as the host on the network and is running Windows ME,and the client PC is running Windows 98SE I have tried to configure ICS (internet connection sharing) both automatically and manually but it doesn`t seem to want to know. When i try tp upload via FTP by using WS_FTPLE I connect with no problems but I cannot see any files on the server,I have played around with the settings and used alternative FTP programs. Yet still the problem persists :confused: :confused: :confused: Anybody got any ideas

Have you looked to see if theres any new drivers for the CD/DVD ROM? :confused: A good Program which searched your computer for updates,new drivers and the like is Catch Up

you could try looking for the file logo.sys in your windows folder as that is a graphic which shows on start up on WinME anyway you could edit this by using paint shop pro or similar

Ever since loading Office XP pro i have this program ctfmon.exe running in the background. I have tries disabling it in MSCONFIG but it keeps starting itself Any ideas what it is? OS= winME
