As per the title .... trip to hereford 7/8/9 nov if anyone knows this area, can you suggest stretches that are worth fishing - mainly for barbel but roach & chub also. Day ticket stretches preferrable as this will be our first trip to hereford. We have fished at Ross before and caught fish on the town stretch. Will obviously be getting advice from the local tackle shops when we're there, but any info in advance of that would be welcome Thanks

I've just bought a Drennan Landing Net Handle (Mega Carp I think they're called). They are carbon fibre, extra strong and are either 2.8m or 3m long (they do 2 types). The quality is good (as you'd expect from Drennan), but they are a little heavier than a normal LNH. Would definatley recc them if strength is what you're looking for. Cost about £35.

Thought I let you know how we got on in Sweden. See below written by John Hobbs The holiday once again arranged by Steve Williams was probably our best holiday yet. Some of us have been coming for 10 years or more and the 6 of us this year had a great time even though the weather deteriated as the 10 days progressed.We started with 8 days at Pers cottage near Sillerud, where the accomodation for all of us, was more than sufficient.We were met by Pers on the Friday night and his Knowledge of the local Area was invaluable.We prebaited his 6 garden swims on the first evening and found Bream good roach and rudd the next day.The Bream had just spawned but still went to nearly 3 Kilos. John had the Best Bag at 30k on stick float at 8metres on rod and line Bob and Lee fished the Pole and all the fish were caught on worm or sweetcorn.Nobody caught more than 9 Bream each before they moved out.On Sunday evening we prebaited the river about a mile towards Sillerud and next day we all caught Beautiful Rudd to nearly 2 lbs[KILO] and Lee caught 20k of Bream on double worm on the pole fishing in 4 metres of water.Monday night Paul ,Bob and John prebaited the Marina at Arjang.Pers had rang to say it had been fishing well and the Bream had moved into the River to clean themselves after spawning, We didnt start fishing until 10.00 on Tuesday mornng -late night session playing Poker until 2.30 am.John had bream in the second swim from the Bay and had 19 bream to 3 kilos (TOTAL WEIGHT 35 kilos in 5 hours) HAD TO HURRY HOME TO GET CHANGED FOR THE FOOTY MATCH against Sweden.We went by Taxi to Arjang to the HAWAII Bar .The worst thing about the entire holiday was, the nearest Pub was 12 miles away!!! The nearest Supermarket at Sillerud 10 minutes away, was excellent.We then moved on to Saffle for our final 3 days staying with Ann Marie in Billerud-well wonderful accomodation and a lovely hostess.She even invited us to a lovely Party that evening on her Terrace.It was Mid summers day a National holiday ,in Sweden.She had prepared Salmon and Herring dishes and glorious desserts,We took bottles of wine and several cases of beer.Next day Four of the boys Steve ,Mark ,Lee and Paul fished the reeds swims just above the Railway Bridge.Steve and Mark had had some lovely Ide up to 3 1/2 kilos in the week .On this particular day Paul had a 2 kilos Tench and the others had up to 30kilos of Idr,Bream and some great roach. John and Bob had prebaited the two swims on Ann Maries lawn just 15 yards from her new Landing Stage, Once again John was lucky to fall on the Bream and caught 26 Bream to 3Kilos and approx 150 Ide and roach to 1KILO .His total weight was 45KILOS the best bag of the week. Bob had plenty of roach and Ide but the last swim on the Billerud strech was very snaggy . Lastly we must say the Wildlife is wonderful.Beavers Deer and even Moose were sighted on a lot of occasions. I think we are all thinking of booking next Year again. Well its a coarse fishing trip so the main targets will be the bream, ide, tench and roach. May do a bit of spinning for the pike / zander also. Bob Nudd stayed at the cottage a few years back & the reports are he caught well on both the lakes and the river that runs through saafle (well he would being world champ) - lots of ide from the river. Jim - Saafle is located in Varmland, did you fish at Vastervik ? Jan - Pers House is located at Signebyn right on the lake there (hope the mozzies aren't bad !) All your help appreciated

On the severn nowadays the pellet is outfishing maggot /caster. In normal conditions use a blockend filled with 2/ 4mm pellets & a 6 mm pellet on the hook. When the river is up use a bigger pellet (no feeder)wrapped in pellet paste - works a treat.

Above should read Pers cottage ..... not that it will make any difference ! LOL
