    Thanks for all the replies. Will then opt for a proper rod i.e. multi sectioned one. Are there any used rod places other than ebay, which seems to be offering mainly new tackle through dealers.

    Am looking at doing some sea fishing after many years. Previously fished in South Africa. Am looking for some versatile beach rod that can be transported by plane. Any views on telescopic rods (eg Shimano) that sell for +- £ 120 ? Will appreciate any comments.
